KToS General Thread v5.0

You can use Thrust with the art to move out quickly. Always worth 1 point for the utility.

Yes, the Glacier shield is a bit much, but not because of the freezing effect but your complete reliance on this specific shield to deal considerable damage with a shield-based build.
The skill factors look nice on paper, but then you realize that you’re only living with the damage boost from Swordsman unless you replace at least one class of you three with Doppelsoeldner or Barbarian(at least it’s easy to stack Frenzy now).

If you replace 2 and only keep Peltasta, your class attribute will only boost your damage marginally, and also your Glacier Shield efficiency will drop drastically, meaning you’re forced into Peltasta>Rodelero>x to use the shield efficiently and to deal damage with a shield build.

Now here’s the question, though: how do you get a decent crit rate on your build without either using a sword (wastrel sword ichor) or a moringponia shield ichor? You’ll need Hoplite or Matador to compensate for the crit rate lost if you either use rapier or spear with the shield build.

This in return gives you less build choices again, unless you can live with a low crit rate, ultimately forcing Peltasta out of non-sword builds if you want to keep the Glacier shield utility, meaning Rodelero>x>x…

Does Wind ark affect nak muay auto atks with muay Thai activated? Do more skills get casted?

well if you want the “perfect” build it is clear that your build options will be very limited u.u

i think, i still goin for rodel-murmil-barbar for shield user
do we really need peltasa beside his threat/aggro skill or defense buff?

Thrust actually has the very same issue, it’s a seeker type skill, so if you’re targeting anything on your back you’ll run backwards into the crowd. I didn’t mind this because murmillo itself offers two movement non seeker type skills in Shield Train and Frenzied Slash and movement skills with seeker properties have their uses. Train is more useful for actual dmg though, so, most people just one point frenzied to dive in or dive out. But ya, just my tastes on gameplay.

You’re right that the shield kind of needs at least rodelero to make itself useful but there’s too many class specific weapons by now, so nothing out of the ordinary and Rodel ain’t that popular, guess this will boost it’s popularity a bit until the shield gets replaced by new gear.

Lastly, Wastrel Sword sure is putting the work there, it has outlived many options, I don’t even think the New Vaivora sword for rodel will replace it, at least for the classic shield build.

Not really, but Peltasta is the core for a defensive shield build. The main reason why you want to use a shield is because you want to boost your survival, otherwise you’re better off using a Blossom Blader or Lancer build.
We also need to think about what Peltasta actually offers with Swash Buckling, because at least the majority of Rodelero skills has a high AoE attack ratio boost. This means you’ll have an easier time to aggro more monsters at once, allowing you to hit multiples at once, instead of running up to them one by one and defeat them.
That coupled with a range attack skill (Shield Lob) and a defensive buff skill (Hard Shield), I think that Peltasta is a really good choice for a shield based build so you can make the best of your attacking capabilities.

Aside of that, it’s more of a preference which classes you combine in this case, if you can live with picking off enemies one by one, Murmillio is probably a better choice over Peltasta, as it provides the much-needed mobility with Sprint to compensate for both the lack of provocation and defensive capabilities.

It would have to be used before the circle is actually closed. Good thing Swordsman can just sprint out of enemy encirclement without having his sprint interrupted when hit, so you can start running and Thrust once your target switches to a monster outside the mob to widen the gap more quickly.

But yeah, you can’t just use it to randomly move away like Wizards Teleport or Archers Leap skill.

The problem I see is that it is adding a new layer to the regular problem of weapon incompatibility.
Shield builds now face the option of sacrificing one more class to increase their critical rate if not using one hand swords, or a lot of damage&utility from the new shield ichor in return for the crit rate, while spears and rapiers usually do not provide such a huge crit boost.

It’s not as bad as being unplayable, but it might influence your capability to make full use of e.g. the Ataka set effect, meaning you would have to optimize your whole equipment solely on your class choices, leaving less options to share equipment.

Hackapell still behind on damage and needs other classes to help and that’s WITH the Glacier Dagger that they obviously centered the rebuffs around.

I am tired, yall

That video is old and from a non Korean server. The buffs just arrived to Ktos.
This is a video with the buffs

Judging from this video, which has similar equip(+21 sword) when compared to the Pelta>Rode>Murm build above, Hackapella is so much worse, because it deals less damage even with Barbarian and Blossom Blader in the the build, compared to the pure shield build…

If Hackapella actually gets more attack/damage from using a dagger, that would be even worse (no idea though, I don’t know if dagger does anything for Hackapella).

They changed the Hakapelle skill to give addition damage that scales with dagger or shield by 75% or 25% of it’s attack respectively for 15 seconds and removed it’s cooldown reduction. Class seems overall nerfed if you play barb and relied on skills to spam to stack frenzy and only good if you play cataphract since they could save some sp not having to spam skills.
It’s as if they only made these changes for whatever meta builds they had for Hackapelle on ktos and wanted to give some dagger buff for dps Blossom Blade>Hackapelle variants to benefit from.

Hey guys, i couldnt find the changes to the smugis set. Could anyone provide that info?

Smugis base effect changed to 25 second duration.

With lvl 3 seal it becomes 50 seconds instead

You forgot that the minimum damage bonus of Smugis Counterattack buff is also increased to 180%.

Before the balance patch:

Smugis Counterattack : increases damage by 120% - 240%, depending on the enemies current HP
Duration: 20 seconds/ 25 seconds with Dragon Energy I

After the balance patch:

Smugis Counterattack : increases damage by 180% - 240%, depending on the enemies current HP
Duration: 25 seconds/ 50 seconds with Dragon Energy I

Source @u.bangarq

this is the first time they used dagger for hackapell with the Hakka Pelle buff change.

The changes are weird and makes Hackapell weaker than intended unless your Barb-Hacka-BB. Then all the changes do is make you an ungeared 2H BB when ur fully geared.

Sounds fun. I just hope they will not turn this into DC because there are people playing that want to keep their eyes functionning and not get epilepsia when playing…

Ooooh finally legend Dysnai with the new Planium mat.

HAHAHAHAHA…
Yesterday we did Boruta with the guild and we had a little bit over 40 participants. Well easy to tell… it was lagging as hell (usually 5 seconds before any skill would respond), resulting in probably doing the fight twice as slow as we would do without lag. Proper response would have been to optimize the engine… but no, taking the easy route here by simply limiting the number of people participating. So what now? We make a shifting list every week to decide who goes to Boruta? This is absurd…

Even worse, since they also buff Boruta attack and health as well as since the thing called ranked rewards still exist, that mean every week the top 30 player from guild have to waste 40 min (20 prepare + 20 kill) just to kill the dragon. And to ensure that the lesser member is improving, high chance that those top 30 player would only get cubes while seal is trickle down to a growing Mergen or the Pelta that only do PvP.
