The only problem is that if they elaborate too much, the ogres that play meta solo dps will become mentally unable to try any kind of strategy and will cry out that “its unfairly hard”… that’s how i see.
If the thing that makes linker strong isn’t JP, why would JP be nerfed into the dirt instead of left alone?
It’s fine and dandy that Linker will still have a niche in a few pieces of content, but JP has always been the class’s bread and butter.
The way this could’ve easily been solved from the beginning was to create a variety of different types of content where different classes will naturally excel. This was already built into the game at a fundamental level, but has been degraded over time and IMC seems intent on continuing to do so. For example I think the game could use more world boss content, with more classes being fine tuned towards boss hunting (ex. give Tiger Hunter the ability to track which map the nearest world boss is in, give Oracle the ability to predict when and where a boss will spawn, etc.) and have that be a big enough part of the game that single target damage focused classes meant to be good against bosses will actually have that niche available, instead of right now where world bosses are so limited. Instead, IMC is simply removing the majority of WBs from the game and only leaving the big ones. It took years for them to add meaningful PVP content to the game when so many classes are clearly geared towards PVP but that seems to be about as far as they’re willing to go in terms of gameplay diversity. For everyone else it’s raids and challenge modes.
Haha, they keep showcasing skin color customization over and over again for over a year without it even coming at all. At least they started showing personal housing, who knows how long all that will take to reach kToS (or be delayed with no ETA).
On a side note, I miss the Popolion post, now would be a good time for that to resurface .
TOS Content Update Coming Soon
Direction of the Next Content Update
The main goal with the upcoming content under development is casualization: to increase accessibility to complex/difficult content. In addition to making content more accessible, we are preparing changes in order to make leveling and building your character easier and faster.
Casualizing Tree of Savior
In December 2018, we introduced the Re:Build update, which simplified a very complex class system with many classes. In order to support all the new class combinations and allow saviors to experiment, we introduced the class change system.
After that, we added the Arts system to provide saviors with additional choices with this simplified class system.
In the process, the class system of the game and the classes themselves became more casual, with the gameplay becoming more diverse as we add more classes to the game (including more to come), but the content that you can play with these classes is more difficult to access and is more complex than content before Re:Build. We believe this complexity is a large barrier of entry to new saviors, as well as returning saviors who are looking forward to checking out new updates.
Along with character development, we want to casualize the existing main content of the game in order to make the game more accessible for saviors in the early stages of learning the game and progressing, while still continuing to increase the depth of the game through new content in the future.
Casualization doesn’t mean just lowering the difficulty of content, or making it easier to obtain high-end rewards. Our goal is to change things in a way to decrease the burden on saviors: making things more accessible and making it easier to reach challenges and understand them. Through changing content and increasing the depth of the game’s story and setting, saviors will more easily be able to enjoy Tree of Savior as an MMORPG.
Content Update
Episode Relabeling: Casualizing Quest Content
Episode Relabeling is an update that will help to guide both new and returning saviors through the gameplay of the game, allowing them to explore the game world and its story. We will be reorganizing the quests of the game into groups as episodes, similar to how we added quests when we did rank updates like Episode 11, along with limiting the appearance of quests while saviors are leveling their characters.
The development team has been monitoring gameplay through various angles, and many new and returning saviors get confused due to there being so many quests. Despite there being so many quests, the main story quests provide the best rewards, so current players mostly only do the main quests when leveling new characters.
The Episode Relabeling update plans to remove factors the hinder the gameplay experience, and consists of the following:
[New User Leveling Guide]
New characters in Tree of Savior level much faster than ever before, and by leveling so fast, too many quests are added to the quest objective window. We will remove the excessive amount of options and reorganize quests into main quests for each episode while still providing enough rewards, so that everyone can quickly and easily learn and enjoy Tree of Savior.
New saviors will go through the game’s quest content in groups of 10 episodes. After clearing enough episode quests, you will be able to access and play through sub quests. Clearing episode quests will give you rewards for each episode.
In addition, after completing a specific number of episodes, you will be able to freely choose between main quests and sub quests on both your current character and any new characters you create in the future. The experience and equipment rewards you get from these quests have been revamped as well, so you can fully enjoy the 10 main story episodes of the game as well as the content of episode 11.
▲ Clearing episode quests grants a reward once per team.
[Revamping the Rewards of Sub Quests]
The rewards of sub quests that had lower rewards than main quests have also had their rewards revamped. While leveling a new character, you can level just as quickly through sub quests as you did when you played through the main quest. Also, after you’ve cleared a specific episode quest, you can play through episode quests starting in Orsha.
▲ The experience rewards of sub quests have been significantly increased.
▲ If you’ve cleared a specific episode quest, you can choose your starting city.
[Increasing the Depth of the Game’s Story]
Along with all of this, we are going to look over important story events and characters that could not be fully explored in the game’s story in the past and add them with this reorganization of quests. This will allow us to tell more stories to saviors who enjoy the game’s lore and story.
▲ Some hidden content within the game’s story will be added.
Adding Casual Unique Raids: Casualizing Dungeon Content
On September 5th, we added Casual Mode to 6 unique raids. We’ve also improved accessibility to lower level Unique Raids, and through using Casual Mode, you can familiarize yourself with the raids in order to feel more comfortable going with a party.
Crevox Note: For context, the casual mode costs less raid stones while only providing 1 soul fragment upon clear (no cube). It is much easier and is for solo play.
We will continue in this direction going forward, and will be adding a casual mode to Tomb of the White Crow: Legend soon. We also have a new raid under development that will be offered with both solo and party options, similar to the current Tomb of the White Crow: Unique raid.
▲ The entry quest for the upcoming new raid.
▲ You can access the new raid through Stele Road.
[Seasonal Events: Casualizing Event Content]
We plan to expand and include seasonal content that is well received by saviors as more regular content. Going forward, we will normalize and run familiar events that saviors enjoy on a more frequent basis, treating it as core content.
For example, the new event we have added is a change from the previous “Blue Bead” event, and we have expanded it into a regular event with its own UI and system. We plan to expand the system of the event and improve its stability based on feedback, so it can be updated to be more regular content.
▲ A scene from the new event.
▲ The new event’s information window.
In addition, we plan to change up the repeating savior support events typically given by Klaipeda’s Uska NPC by having it focus on other NPCs in cities.
▲ A seasonal event provided by each city’s Magic Association NPC.
▲ The information window for the event “Stamp Tour.”
The Opening of the Content Integration Shop
We plan to open a shop that provides rewards for doing content across multiple different NPCs, different systems, and different UIs. We plan to periodically update the store with unique equipment and consumables to help you play the game, allowing to collect items in addition to those from the TP shop.
▲ You can obtain special items from this new shop.
Enhancing Customization
The arts system was added to strengthen your ability to customize aspects of your classes and more will be added on a regular basis in the future. We expect saviors to further customize and perfect their character through this.
We have also added a skin color change system along with a new hair style to further your options for customization.
▲ When creating a new character, you can change skin colors and also preview some costumes in advance.
▲ The new hairstyle under development.
We are also developing a new personal housing system to reinforce saviors customizing and personalizing their team. You can create your own “My Home” in the game by placing various different objects, visit your friend’s “My Home”, and even invite well-known NPCs and assign them roles to help you play through the game.
▲ Personal housing under development.

New Episode: The Savior’s Adventure Continues
On top of these casual changes, we’re also working on preparing a massive update that will add more depth to the game.
More details will be provided in a future news post.
This concludes the preview for Tree of Savior content that is scheduled for the second half of 2019.
※ All content, images, etc described in this post may be added, changed, or deleted before being added to the live server.
I’m really hoping we’re able to change skin color for characters made before this change happens w/o having to buy cash shop items.
Thank you, @crevox, once again. You are AWESOME!!
About the content update, I am not sure if they promised us the character customization and the possibility to choose between Orsha and Klaipeda as a starting point last year. Well, waiting for it in January 2020.
But I liked it. It seems they have listened to us complaining about how empty TOS’s world feels.
I could have sworn you use to be able to choose. I remember always choosing orsha in the beginning as if it was some kinda clan or something
Kinda weird to add a casual mode to a legend raid. Isn’t that what the non-legend version of the raid is for?
Honestly “casualizing” the game might be a good direction, considering at this point I’ve lost hope in IMC’s ability to make something with any depth to it, but the social and community aspects of a casual MMO are a big selling point for them so further encouraging solo play seems in opposition to that idea.
You could. They removed it at some point because it was confusing new players or something.
thank you ^^
well, nothing about new classes for second half of 2019, what do you think? will they release as soon as possible?
I wish there was slightly more customization options like different faces (of course more hair styles) and most of all a variety of skin tones to choose from!
There are more skins than what’s shown. Before that had red blue green black and all kinds of colors. Probably cash shop colors and the ones in character creation are the basic skin tones
So the new character customization has natural skin colors, so it should be common sense to also add natural hair color and eye color, you should be able to pick black hair, blonde hair, red hair, even white hair, also have black, brown, green, blue, and amber eyes by default instead of having to buy stupid dyes and color eye lenses to make your character “different” or even close to your real appearance
I’m surprised IMC took that long to add more options to character creation.
Boob slider by 2024?
The casualizing means that the rest of the content will become way harder?
I can still have hope that it will not stay the cheese 5 dps party insta burst… right?
They buffed all classes.
I’m just happy about the quest revamp.
A lot less ‘Here we go again.’.
15 alt all needing legendary card slots opened was pure cancer.
I’m truly hyped for housing, hope they don’t make it too dificult to obtain furnitures… It’s been ages since they first teased it.
Good that those weird orange/blue/green skin tones are not there, hope they keep this idea away. Also, cool to see Retiarius outfit on the character creation window… I know that it doesn’t seems much for a game that sells a lot of outfits, but it is a nice touch if they will allow us to check different outfits during character creation too, even if it is only the common ones from each class.
I’m also amazed that they gonna try to please players who loves the story of the game! Hoping that they will expand some plots to post quest events and fix some gaps, but specially praising for them to use this opportunity and create a good story about Thauma, Linker and Enchanter somewhat leaving the hall of wizardry classes.
I wonder if they will announce the rest of the changes for Re:SFR with this or not (yep, still waiting for Sadhu…). This statement seems to tease something bigger than only skills adjustment…
… maybe new classes included?
And previously everyone was rolling the classes that were already buffed like hoplite, exo and taoist. So after these buffs, the content wont be easier or harder, just more classes will be able to do them.
Hence, accessibility.
