KToS General Thread v4.0

A farmer.

Scout buffers are primed to farm. That’s 1 role I guess I figured is now unique to scout (I think DPE is the only drop mod left outside scout). The problem I see is the looting system itself. I made a corsair specifically for pillage and turns out it doesn’t always work (some content does not drop silver so … bleh). If there are no changes, I hear swell brain will be giving loot chance that ONLY affects HG gear.

That is the point of taunting, managing aggro. In terms of ferret marauder card, everyone is the same so that is not a point of comparison. Agress has 6 more targets over swashbuckling so there’s that.

But isn’t bully still based on evading the attack for the subweapon stats to matter? With a 30 pull you essentially have 0 evasion making bully pointless

The difference between a swordie and a cleric IS the heal. That’s not a matter of flavor. It is the same as when I say scout (dagger) is a swordie with invisibility. I’m simply asking if there is more. It’s fine to say there is none if there really isn’t any more.

Outlaw is a tank class in the scout tree. It even has a taunt with 6 more targets over swash. Aggress and bully are contradictory tanking tools though as 1 basically invalidates the other. Bully lets you tank via evasion but aggress essentially gets rid of your evasion . So you’re either a “peltasta” with lower CON modifiers or you are a single target tank (which everyone who takes aggro via mad deeps already does).

I guess it’s safe to say scout (dagger) will mostly be a PvP class with multiple invis or a farmer. That’s not a bad conclusion to come to.

Any video of a wizard solo velco or they can’t ? o_O or at least dealing a lot damage xD I want to keep as wizard main :frowning:

Unless the definition for tanking has changed, outlaw is a tank. It has aggro mechanics (the minimum requirement for qualifying as a tank) in bully. It can mitigate damage via evasion (has additional too ls to raise evasion). It has a taunt (mind you with 6 more targets that our current itos tank - peltasta) in aggress.

As for surviving? Every tank is a survival class. In fact every class is a survival class if the definition is any class that tries to stay alive while doing damage.

By definition, Monk is supposed to be a Damage class and Plague Doctor is supposed to be a Support class …

:tired:

Was just making that comparison on Monk. IMC and their color coding on classes, lel Plague Doctor looks more like the Red class in that video.

Apparently it only doesn’t apply to you (and your preference). Calling something a tank based on the availability of tanking tools is just an objective observation grounded in established norms.

It works the same way. The more of it you have, the more you are targeted.

They are called “off-tanks” (also an established concept from waaaaaaaaaaay long ako). These are classes that have poor tanking kits (due to having a different primary role: DPS or healing) but they still have the ability to do so. Off-tanks are still tanks. Not very good design wise but they are. I mean, a pure DPS class that far out aggros anything any pure tank can dish out is forced to slip into the tanking role just from that.

Evasion tanking is still tanking. It is currently what we do NOW in itos because block is just evasion 2.0. It is better than evasion because it comes from CON (because it also comes with HP). Blocking is also technically still RNG because of the block formula. It’s like saying “don’t block because its RNG and just mitigate the damage”. If you mention c-blocking you aren’t doing anything else.

It’s ok to have preferences but do not assert them as the norm when they are simply preferences.

Bullfrak, this is only the imagination of characteristics you have because you want to play Assassin/Rogue/Thief(which hopefully will never be part of this game) in a specific way which you are maybe used from other MMOG or RPGs. Furthermore don’t you think it’s kinda braindead to play always with the same cls. funktions and insist on them, just in another game/setting.

And btw. Outlaw is not a tank it is more kind of a mobber with just its taunt and evasion.

uhm Enchanter gives +25% more block and allow said scout to block even without shields, CON no more gives block, but is gained by level, (as the by RE:FAQ2 said) there also other ways to get block now is: with red gems on top/bottom, shields, enchant jewel.

Next updates removes the need to be a priest or learn increase magic defense to sell buffs as pardoner… That’s what I understood…

Edit: Also no more silver at Saalus?

That’s a step in the right direction, now make them not priest buffs so priest buffs become relevant again.

Ok next try. What will happen to our ichors if we change a weap ? Still didn’t understand it right ;/

  1. Do we get the extracted ichor+ a voucher
  2. or do we lose the ichor and get instead a voucher
  3. or is the voucher to extract the ichor

    Majin

Outlaw very clearly fills what other games would refer to as an ‘evasion tank’ niche. That’s still a tank, even if it’s not taking any hits, because it draws the damage away from other players and controls/coralles mobs to a desired location. Just look at the way the skills work and it becomes quite obvious that this is the intention. A taunt that makes not only the player, but also enemies run faster, a mechanic that provides aggro pull for evading attacks, an evasion boost, and more. All of these things scream ‘evasion tank’ to me.

To me it scream mobber, not tank. A tank is able to take hits, not avoid them by chance, have the bulkiness for taking hits.

That’s not how evasion tanking works. The idea is that you get your evasion so high that you can avoid most hits more often than not, therefore mitigating damage a different way.

the funciton of a ‘tank’ in game is not to take damage. It’s to draw enemy attacks away from your party and sustain that pull. How you do that depends on the design of the class or character. Traditional tanks do this by soaking damage up directly or blocking, evasion tanks do this by evading most of it, or even kiting enemies.

Yeap, I was going to say just that, but I have a complement to do. The term tank refers to the vehicle that has the ability to receive a large amount of damage and remain active. Technically, in games, what makes you a tank, is its ability to mitigate or deny the damage received, with passive dodges or high resistances. We can not confuse tank with the guardian role, which consists to draw enemy attacks away from your party and sustain that pull, on the front lines. Every guardian must be a tank, but not every tank is a guardian.

“draw enemy attacks away from your party and sustain that pull”

That is called CC. I do that with Cryo Kino. Im not a tanker. I can’t take hits.

Nop …
Aggro = “draw enemy attacks away from your party and sustain that pull”

CC or Crowd control = refers to the ability to limit the number of mobs actively fighting during an encounter, limiting or restricting their actions.

They are different roles too, but they can also be together.

Aggro is type of CC.
This definition: “draw enemy attacks away from your party and sustain that pull” can be used for both.
Evasion tanker ain’t happening. Outlaw can taunt and that is it.
Even if they last a little longer in fight because of evasion that doesn’t mean they can survive the hits taken. If you depend on RNG to tank, trust me, you will die sooner than later.
Yes, block is RNG, but tanker classes do not depend on it to survive. It just helps. High hp and high defenses (not rng based) makes a tanker.
Taunt makes a guadian

Riot removes all of your evasion for a short time.

Risk and reward, you do and recieve 50% more damage, so its worth it, just like when shinobi did 50% more damage and received more damage when used bushin (ITOS tooltip was bad translated).
