They should give Bokor at least 6 times Overheat. 5 is just bad design for this skill.

The overheat thing is bad design, period. I’m sure they can make it balanced, but it’s just super lame that they’re destroying a unique playstyle for these classes. What’s wrong with skill spamming classes? Why should everyone be forced into skill rotation builds or autoattack builds? I feel like they’re doing this just because of the ping problem, but that still heavily effects autoattack builds too so it’s a shitty bandaid solution.

Like legitimately the most fun I had in tree of savior was playing archer spamming oblique shot early game and watching it blow up 2 mobs per shot. Then later doing the same thing with 3 mobs per shot on scout3. People who play fencer and monk and hoplite3 play it for the 0 cooldown skill spam style as well. This is just a silly change, not because of any balance reason, but because it’s removing diversity from the game.

Yeah I know. I mean I wasn’t expecting it to stay the way it was initially after the patch since it clearly seemed like it was under progress but to me personally it seemed like the direction was good.

Now it looks like they’re going backwards with it. They even rolled out these changes to the enchant buffs and thaum that support the usage of SPR which would compliment the lack of INT when the rest of your skill kit would come into play.

I just hope this won’t be the final stage they leave it at and if it’s not it’s quite hard to see what direction they’ll be taking since I was expecting this patch to still largely focus on the usage of spirit in calculations and what not but surprisingly it doesn’t seem that way?

(I’m just rambling at this point so no need to respond. )

We don’t need another Elder Scrolls Online.

Nowadays, most mmo’s usually stray away from skill spam, because they know it’s an outdated (and difficult to balance) model.

Just look at old RO, crazy balance issues.

While I do agree with you on the fact that this is a bandaid solution, I have to disagree that it will exponentially change the play style of some classes. Maybe a tanky fencer, but you can still do fine if you play smart. 10 seconds cool down is not that long. Even as an archer/scout farmer in 130/145, I have never sat there and only spammed split/oblique shot without adding other skills in my rotation. Even so, there is now a reason for me to pickup oblique shot instead of feeling like I have wasted points in the early stage of my career. So instead of split shot > split shot > split shot over and over again I will now just do split shot x 5 > oblique shot x 5 > split shot x 5, still get the job done with minor adjustments.

I just made a FF and this brings a tear to my eye. I don’t need this though, lol. Joint Penalty into Magic Missile is enough fun for me.

Yeah, if you can get your whole combo 30% faster and have to wait 5 seconds with basic attacks, its better to go for STR build and get your whole combo at normal time dealing much more damage.

I don’t know you, but I prefer use a 10s “rotation” each 10s with Str than go for a much weaker combo that will give me 3s of AAs.

I think the faster, less powerful burst damage will be better for pvp; the stronger, slower burst will be better for bossing.

Or maybe neither. IMC probably want more hybrid builds, in stats and skills. But I don’t know if a 10s cooldown with 5 OH will solve this problem.

Maybe it’s to force a breather for upcoming rodeleros. Before I made rodelero c3, I killed glass mole and poata by spamming thrust xD

But yeah, it’s weird.

The thing with the 5 overheats is that it just kills Monk fist-roleplaying for me.

At first I discovered Monks used maces and was disappointed.

Then, I discovered they could use a 0CD punch skill with stamina.

Then, I build up my char with the maximum stamina possible to use only punches and never see the mace swinging again.

Then now, I’m full of fear of being IMC’d.

But as people said, it’s probably just for testing and see what happens… Or not.

Man… The fear, boys…

P. sure people are only playing this game because it’s not ‘most mmos’.

I never said that, though. The point is it goes from 0 downtime to 10 seconds downtime. If the overheat system were fixed, like instead of resetting all 5 after 10 seconds you restored 1 every 2 seconds, it wouldn’t be so bad. But this definitely fundamentally changes the way these classes are played. The rest of your skill rotation won’t line up to fill that 10 second downtime so instead of spamming skills between rotations you’re going to end up using basic attacks and just throwing in split shows when you can. It changes them from being consistent DPS into just another burst damage build waiting out cooldowns. There are already more than enough burst damage builds, they’re pretty much relegating sustained DPS solely to Wugushi and autoattackers.
