Sorry but I just didn’t bother to point out the incorrect statements on that post because I thought they were so obvious even you realized them when you were typing that reply. And I still believe so, so I don’t feel the need to state the obvious.
And you keep using the same scarecrow approach to “proof” stuff. Since you can’t come up with anything else and it’s easy? Or you didn’t really notice it yourself?
I personally don’t care about what you demand. There have been several stories of kill stealing in this very topic and you’d be hard pressed to find a user who hasn’t experienced it before on more than one occasion.
You’re trying to minimize killstealing and making it seem like it’s always an accident. It’s not. I’ve had Swordsmen run up to something I was attacking and hit it. What exactly was the AoE attack they were using? I find it strange that you think I would hop on the forums and make up stories about killstealing. What do I gain? Pity? Empathy? That does nothing for me. I am commenting on the social aspect of killstealing. It is scummy and no one likes it.
But you yourself said you’re not a killstealer right? So why would anyone grief you? You have nothing to hide.
I’ve had a conversation with a buddy of mine similar to what is happening in this thread, the consensus we arrived at was in the majority of situations (perhaps euRO excluded?) a large portion of a games population will be rude/unethical if provided an environment in which it is promoted. I see no reason why the system can’t be changed to yield a reward for everyone. I have leveled an archer to 80 really quickly, probably the fastest I had ever leveled a character so far. I then turned around and tried leveling a cleric which was painful, this game has zero incentive for players to show a kind approach towards one another, and this conversation demonstrates that. The battle journal, quest credit based off of last hitting, low spawn rates, bots taking what little of the spawn rates there was to begin with is yielding a community full of toxicity.
People whom KS may think nothing of it, perhaps “It only added a minute or so to their time here, so it is no big deal, they will get over it.”. I spent way more time on the Tenet Garden area than I would care to admit because of this. It isn’t just you that add time to peoples clear speed, every person with the same mentality blowing through the quests at insane speeds add to that time and it builds up really fast. A quest that took my archer 2 minutes tops is taking my cleric 20 or so because of stuff like this, it happens more often than an mmorpg should allow. I am all for an aria of competition in games, “get gud” moments put a smile on my face when done right, however the current system is punishing players whom aren’t archers and creating what feels like an artificial food chain where Archers are king and supports fight for scraps.
Okay? That still doesn’t invalidate or change what I said. No killstealer will post their name because they are fully aware that the community frowns upon their actions and are fully aware that it would negatively impact their reputation in-game.
I found that there are some classes that are particularly vulnerable to ksing. Like Peltasta and Linkers. Due to the linking or swashbuckling. Its really annoying.
I even called one out and they started being insulting and making fun of me for being “weak”.
There is literally no motivation for anyone to be kind or nice to people.
I literally had a Ranger do this to me. They would use Barrage in Tenet Garden (maybe the zone before, I forget) and steal mobs I needed to “brainwash”. When I told them to stop, they mocked me and even got their Priest friend in on it. They proceeded to mock my Energy Bolt’s damage as it was level 8 and my gear wasn’t too impressive at the time.
I had to out burst them with Energy Bolt and brainwash the mobs before they had a chance to Barrage my mobs (which they were actively doing as they cleared the map).
Then I as a Cleric who gets KSed often, can make the argument that you do not own my account, therefore I do not have to heal you, or even resurrect you unless I feel like it, when in a dungeon group, since you didnt want to give me any courtesy or respect, then I feel, I shouldn’t give any to you, if we end up in a group dungeon on a matchmaker.
While i haven’t read the whole thread i would like to add my personal view on the matter. I don’t believe the term “Kill Stealing” can be used in any context because a kill isn’t truly yours until the entity is dead, the only problem i see is that people feel entitled for various mostly immature reasons. I understand this is a very common mentality, so i personally try to avoid killing monsters that are near other players as i don’t want to make anyone upset. I would like to point out attacking the same monster as other players is in fact a social thing to do but a lot of players do not perceive it as such. Please refrain from throwing insults at one another, instead, consider changing channel if someone bothers you, if they follow you through that and don’t leave you alone when told, that’s harassment.
Gentleness is not the same as passiveness (altho its often mistaken for that). That means someone is not going to be gentle in every situation. Sometimes there is a need to speak up without being gentle.
I only see two people projecting. Personally I think both people forgot that they were discussing a topic, instead of debatting in their debate club.
His/her comparison was more correct then yours.
You know, you can discuss about matters and bring up different opinions and still stay civil about it. Or at least somewhat civil, I know I sometimes like to hint I’m suspecting I’m discussing with a child when his behaviour somehow makes me think this is likely the case
You display this quite well by not being civil in this very quote.
Proper use of language does not make one civil, altho there are many ‘welldressed monkeys’ out there who seem to think otherwise. FFXIV forums is overrun with them.
mature = cynical
I find that the word ‘mature’ is overused.
Projecting are you?
This is arrogance.
tl;dr the intention of you two seems to be nothing but trying to derail, or ‘argue for the sake of arguing’. If you are interested in that, I would suggest finding a debate club to join; they do this quite often and enjoy it.
Meanwhile, we will continue to argue about the actual topic:
I feel ya dude. I’ll be your rager instead and hate on every class besides Linkers who does this.
You got a lot of respect in RO for doing that as well. The only thing was that it was a hand in hand favor. “You don’t touch my mob and I won’t touch yours.”
Not everything, but a system that promotes anti-social, and rude behavior, punishing the already slow clear speed of support classes? Most definitely yes.
