no… the setting is in auto loot where in the item drops from the monster then when you go near it it auto picks up or goes flying straight to your character. not unless you dont wanna go near it and wait for it to go neutral then it goes to who ever goes near it. i say it takes about 3-5mins before the item goes white neutral that can anyone pick it
and that will be much better
Sorry, I wasn’t meaning to cause all of this confusion. I was just curious if IMC had developed a system to deal with KSing. I hated being KS’d on RO, so I wasn’t sure how ToS would deal with the topic. I imagine I would certainly rather party in most instances, unless the way of dividing exp between the party members is the same as in RO, which royally sucked.
For loot in ToS, if its not yours it will be black in color, as in you can’t take it. So no point of “stealing” here. Also both will get exp, so it does not really matter. I dont want people shouting ks here ks there in this game…lets just stay quiet and keep grinding
The exp is distributed according to the damage. And the loot, at least in bosses is distributed too. For example 1 recipe for one, one armor for another
But you have to do some damage
Yeah…it doesnt really matter to me as long as both get something and not nothing
it’d be insane to make rules for something not enforced by the engine. You’re setting yourself up to get griefed.
It is completely legal . It basically means your a jerk if you do
The first hit rule only seems to apply to quest kills (kills counting for a quest). You can KS / be KS’d and get a decent chunk of exp.
I second this. This debate is really old and the behavior has always been frowned on.
I don’t care if it’s “ok” by the rules or not. Unless I’m specifically asking for help I really don’t like outside ‘assistance’ which is often the excuse given–especially if you are a support class. It’s really annoying. I could be testing out skills or just in the flow of things and that ruins my rotation (ffxiv is a good example where it’s easy to ruin someone’s rotation with “helping”, I main monk and I really, really don’t like it when someone messes up my greased lightening stacks).
true conditionally you do a bajillion(lots) of damage
FFXIV is also the kind of game that will send you out to kill 10 of the same mobs and only 4 of them will be alive at any given time, as in the relic atma to animus books. I’ve certainly attacked mobs that were already engaged with another player in such circumstances. The game gave everyone full credit if you (or your party) had sufficiently contributed damage. And if you were hunting the same targets, you’d likely have your GL stacks drop before you could run to the next mob anyway.
I’m aware that you still get full credit, the example I was trying to make is it disrupts the flow of my skills and plus: it’s just really annoying. Quite a few players feel the same way. XIV’s spawn ratio to requested kills IS pretty annoying. Though more oft than not there is an unmaked spawn or two on the map near the area indicated.
But seriously, it’s really annoying. Unless my HP is in the red, I don’t appreciate it no matter how well intended it is. It’s just as rude as someone coming up while I’m eating dinner and helping me “finish it off.”

And I do understand that sometimes it’s an honest mistake. It’s not like I chew people out for this every time it happens or anything. But it’s very frustrating for me as a player.
I’ve actually found it really annoying in some games that have automatically shared quest progression to have people ‘help’ me. I’d go up to fight this boss that a long quest chain had been leading up to only to find people camping there. The boss spawns. Within two seconds it’s down. I’m cheated out of what was supposed to be a fun boss fight. Quest progression should NEVER be shared that way, but anyways… If I’m dying, please help, especially if the game has a system in place where there is a ‘help me’ key I can use. If I’m not, go awaaaaaay…or ask to team up with me. -shrugs- Exp sharing with individual loot drops is best, but when that’s not the case it’s theft, either of fun or exp, and it’s just not cool.
Pretty sure boss fights are instanced aren’t they? I mean you can bring your party with you but no one else can help from what I’ve seen.
MVP were really an issue, you not only needed to know the very second it spawns, but also be the lucky one that gets the kill, of the other two hundred camping people.
There are field boss that is hard as hell from what Ive heard with other korean friends but so far I haven’t encountered any field boss whose hard enough for me to go Japanese Pro. But with regard to Quest Boss there are some that is hard probably because Im soloing them, but not hard enough for me to go beg for people to help me XD
Yup, field bosses are pretty much a free for all from what I understand though? Everyone gets loot?
If that’s how it is then I really hope they change it. I don’t want to relive those bad memories from RO.
I honestly don’t understand why IMC would choose that system for XP and loot. That’s so last decade and does not promote fair play. Modern MMOs either use first hit gets the XP and loot or everyone who attacked said enemy also gets XP but have separate loot.
where you not back tracking posts?
1st person who hit it(not including field bosses) on field boss it varries on the person who did a lot of damage and persons who did contribute
