Kill Stealing legal or not?

Actually everyone did have separate loot. At least thats what ive seen during my kr testing

legal

loool what you gonna do lock em up?

I want an open PK server primarily for this sort of thing. It would quickly sort out the etiquette problem and create some interesting scenarios.

This can also lead to more harassment worse than kill stealing since instead of hindering progress through exp growth and equipment upgrades, you’d be hindering their gameplay entirely.

From my experience on beta, it doesn’t even matter.

It seems the person who first hits a mob gets any loot that may drop from it, but both of you get experience for it (I’m not sure what the distribution of the experience is though).

Most mobs don’t really seem to drop anything that is worth fighting over, and the respawn rates are really high. If you need an amount of a quest item or material from a mob, you won’t have to spend too long before you have enough of that item even if there are several other people farming in the same area.

Also don’t be afraid to form parties (or ask for invite), just invite whoever you see that is also farming in the same area. It’s always better to be in a group.

Look out it’s the feelings police, here to protect the marginalized with her massive ego and sense of self-worth!

Base on my experiences for CBT, the experience is -sometimes- shared and sometimes it isn’t. It could be that you need to do at least a certain % of damage to health bar in order for experience to split.

However! I had an experience of the following: it was a blue panto archer(has 250 hp if im not wrong) in Tenet Garden. I landed one hit of (200ish) damage, but some archer shot it from afar using kneeling shot and took the exp as someone in her party leveled while I didn’t get any exp.

Loots as well does not seem to be credited to all damagers of a particular mob but I also noticed loots do get shared amongst damagers of ā€œbig red kapaā€ located @ miners village.

It is interesting to note that the credit sharing does not apply 100% of the time.

TL;DR - I still can’t find an answer nor understand how the kill stealing/shared kill credits work in this game.

In response to the thread: kill stealing is unethical however most games does not make a ruling against it. Not even under the category of harassment, unless you’re way out of league of the map and you’re killing everything there when there are others without a probable cause(quest/helping friend and guild mates etc etc).

The terms of service in this game is quite short as compared to other games. As of now, it is still unclear if IMC games disallows kill stealing or not.

i will explain it to you.

imcGames implemented a share increase system.
which means, as more people make at least 2-5% dmg to the monster, there more loot the monster will drop.

on small monsters this is hard to show, but you can easily see this on boss monsters. if you solo a boss monster, the monster drops ~20(?) coins, and an item.
but if several people make dmg to is, all of them get a certain amount of coins + equipment.
the stuff the others got, is nothing you lose, these are coins and items, you would not have gotten because there is a max gain cap on all monsters.

this system is probably one of the best anti KS Systems i saw so far, because it does not matter if you kill the monster or someone else.
on small monsters its probably a little bit different, because of the amount of items, but i think its also not THAT different.

Kind regards
Gardosen

Thanks Gardosen. That explanation did help me understand the system further. However, I’m confused as to why when I dealt 50% on a regular mob that is glowing in blue @ Tenet Garden but someone else landed the finishing blow, I did not get a single exp from it?

Is the sharing only affecting bosses and regular mobs or can this be considered a bug?

It is very confusing because the sharing part worked just fine for me @ the start point where a glowing bug appeared and multiple people hit and I would say all of them (including me) jumped levels on the first day of CBT.

So far, it didn’t matters so much. There are so much mobs and spawning so fast that it is almost impossible take care of ks (looking at mines) while you play, not to mention most of the time you are hitting multiple mobs at once.

I got quest progress, exp and items when someone other finished to kill my mob, and even when I were the one killing someone’s else dying mob.

When it comes to special field mobs, it seems everything is shared so there isn’t any ks.

Exp, item, quest progress mechanics are to be know in more details, sure, but so far I guess ks isn’t something to be afraid of. Maybe we can talk of it again on higher levels, if the case.

@malkraz The previous post was meant to construe a meaningful discussion by presenting the topic in a meaningful way by asking what exactly defines a kill steal, not defending the action, and had no such intent; a devil’s advocate, if you will. Clearly you have misunderstood my words and did not comprehend it correctly. Try to understand it better next time.

@Gardosen Not a bad system at all, but needs work. If it guarantees an actual drop rate for any player that hits the monster, p-levelers and bots will run around rampant then and hit just about anything despite it already being taken, unless of course the latter were programmed to be more inconspicuous. The loots should be fine, but what does it say about experience?

I get ks’ed all the time. Do i care about it? No.

That’s perfectly fine for me, hence why it’d be its own server that people could choose to play on. Not forced onto everyone.

It’s actually last hit, sadly.

Clearly you’ve misunderstood which of your posts I was replying to, sweetheart. Try to understand it better next time.

Really? Well now, clearly a dignified response was out of the question. He and I have resolved our issues in private messaging. Now be a dear and do try to stay in topic. It’s buried already and digging up old things that have been resolved is just unpleasant.

Back to topic, what exactly defines a kill steal and when is it a kill steal and when is it not a kill steal?

The following situations present a confusing problem:

a) someone else hit next by just a split second
b) aggressive monsters attacking someone else who is alone, running away, and/or under leveled
c) bosses

I group up a bunch of mobs, someone else runs over and starts kill them all while I’m attacking them.
That’s the most common kill stealing I see going on in the game and probably the sort of thing most people are referring too.

That makes sense…but that’s blatant kill stealing already. At least one definition and example has been cited.

Dignified responses are reserved for those with the dignity to not compose themselves as more than they are.

I actually hope they do something about the monsters’ AI. When I’m already hitting monsters and they get hit by someone else, the monsters change target so easily. I’m just talking normal monsters here.

Playing a cleric, I sometimes drag monsters around a bit so I can position them right for my skills. Intentionally or not, somebody else hits them and they switch target. It’s irritating especially when I’ve just cast my skill too.
