Kill Stealing - Is it against the Terms of Service?

Considering the constant discussions that i’ve seen regarding Kill Stealing i’ve gone and checked the Terms of Service and maybe we can get an official answer on the matter once and for all.

Does harassment include continously kill stealing from the player?

Does kill stealing fall under disrupting other players’ gameplay?

If your kill stealing is preventing a player from finishing a quest, does it count as hindering the natural progression of the game?

I really would like to know what the GMs think about this issue

But people dont CARE about it.
Atm spawnrate is so low… and people are so set on getting exp or quest kills.

Partying is so nice… but most just kill steal your quest mobs and dont want to party up to share the count…

xD how to solve it?
More channels, more spawns and faster spawnrate.

if “kill stealing” would be against the ToS then i could (in theory) firsthit a worldboss solo and report all the other players afterwards because they stole the boss.

No kill stealing is not against the ToS and would be impossible to confirm. You could say it is harassment if you follow one single player all over the place to steal his mobs all the time. But everything else would be ridiculous

Kill sharing or monster tagging would solve this issue. I don’t know how competent ICM is or whether they actually change any systems in the game but fingers crossed.

I would say generally yes it is against ToS.

But it does continuously act, so I guess like following the player and KSing everything he fights.

Maybe they should re-write the ToS to clarify better

But there are also people who whine when random people passing by kill few mobs from them. This shouldn’t count as breaking those terms of service.

I bet certain someones will come to this thread as well and tell that I’m supporting griefing and harassing others. Yes, these acts should be forbidden and it would be okay for pretty much everyone, me included, if IMC starts punishing people acting this way.

you really underestimate all they have changed on the game…

as someone who took 90% of previous close beta to explore and exploit the crab out of the game, I can see all they have done to prevent all the things I did before…

from invisible walls pushing you back to mobs running away if you get in an unreachable place and lot more…

I know that with time, TOS will become great…

As a Psycho I have nothing to but hate to those that KS me, its a pain in the back to gather a mob and the moment you will PP comes some [CENSORED] and turn all your effort into dust :rage:

and 10 times worst when it’s for a quest :triumph:

Yes.
No, you are not allowed to target and continuously kill steal from other players.
No. Kill stealing is a part of the game mechanics since day one. As such, by definition a part of the natural progression of the game.
For that reason I usually just adapt my mindset and ignore other players, I just don’t target them and avoid them if there is an alternative mob available.

I understand the frustration about this issue but this isn’t easily solved as you would have to pay the price other areas if you were to implement protections.

Considering IMC’s lack of capabilities in too many areas of design and implementation my guess is you’d need a much greater outrage before something is done, and then, you’d have to wait for numerous patches stabilizing the new system.

Especially Ragnarok Online PvE private servers have a lot of experience implementing such systems, but of course, also many other games. But I don’t believe IMC is able to inform themselves to such depth and design a great system.

Ah, yes, and don’t forget, systems preventing kill stealing usually affect the whole game design so often it isn’t that simple. However, the community could agree on limited solutions which improve the experience well enough.

stop this KS BS people.
you want a care bear game go play solo games on easy mod.
you want an mmorpg that have real people then suck it up and get over it. make a party.
the monster in the game are not fo only one player but for 100% of them.
if i ned a monster for quest or drop and some one in the place i asking them to party up. if he will not then how its my problem?or you think that after ONE player got to some pace no one but him cant be there?
say thank that this is 2016 and not 2000-2005 because if it was you most likely have PK as well. then a party of 5 will rape you and ks the monster you so wanted.

I don’t think this is some KS BS thing. OP asked a legit question because OP wishes to know the answer and maybe some clarification.

its an mmorpg nit solo rpg, yuo dont understand what mmo is?
if you play solo in an mmo you will get ksed. party up or suxk it up.

Earlier today, someone KSed me and then offered to duel me (which I accepted). It just felt like players trying to fight for their territory or show their dominance. He and his party was just killing everything after so I couldn’t do my quests. Other channels were packed (and there seems to be only 5 channels to play in now days).

So my opinion just for the GMs to see is that IF KS is illegal then I wish to see less of these behaviors.

I do understand what an MMO is. Of course you will run into those “Not so friendly” people and try to ruin those days. Other times you will run into people who don’t care and finally run into the “caring and helpful” people. I mean it’s the internet on this day and age.

I just feel like you are going slightly off topic from OP’s post.

if people cant take KS in a mmorpg there games like dragon nest ,vindictus and c9. go play this . there is no open world and yuo can play solo and dont be ksed.
you can party up and dont be ksed here as well but don’t expect that all the monsters in the game belong to you. you are not a special little snowflake. one snowflake is nothing and lots of snowflakes make a storm. so stop play solo and expect no contank whatsoever from players in an mmorpg.
