Why are there some dex haters? oO
Itās like RO itself. Agi builds were beast in the beginning, until status effects came into the equation with vit/int being the stats to resist it. Thatās when agi builds became less common.
Someone marks your post as solution ._.
CON is not good, just less worse than INT
If doing so, CON needs improvement to be more defensive
I want to disagree there. They might have become less common but they were still viable. From Knights to Berserk LKs, from Archer to Sniperā¦you always had them use AGI over years and it was still viable to a certain point.
And when you reached that point group play and clever use of skills became more important than what stat you put in. If you didnāt have pneuma to block pierce in thor it didnāt matter if you were vit or agiā¦it just hurt like a truck.
But Iāve just noticed that on my own chars. All chars that I started in march are now rather useless cause the guides back then all recommended going strenght. Now iād pretty much have to reroll all chars because all of a sudden all guides recommend dex.
And Iām sitting here with 3 chars with str as main statā¦thatās just killing all the motivation.
It is still possible rank 9 strenght will overpower dexterity for some builds.
I donāt think Iām the only making same build full dex and full str in case.
On par to dexās damage if not stronger. IMC is currently balancing INT, STR and SPR. Dex will remain strong regardless of the outcome. Magics will hurt on TBL more than ever because of this change too. I hope this would be the last time they would do this.
STR actually needs to be way stronger than DEX because DEX gives a ton of survivability which translates to damage since a dead DPS = 0 DPS.
This is not a solution. Again, this would just turn the meta into go 100% STR and ignore DEX until R9 comes out and everything does 8x as much damage as it does now and then itās back to all DEX until they buff STR again. If you want to have to use a stat reset every update, sure, encourage ideas like this.
The real problem is just the way stats work and are calculated. Theyāre either flat with some % modifier to the total, or use some OBNOXIOUSLY bad calculation like crit rate, which just encourages 100% investments in either case with very little build dependency. Not to mention the fact that one stat - SPR - is absolutely worthless for everyone, while INT is worthless for over half the classes and STR is worthless for the rest.
The whole stats system in ToS is just one of the many things that is so badly designed it has no immediate solution other than reworking it entirely.
Not just outright preventing you from dying, either. Dodging means avoiding hits entirely, and for some reason IMC decided half the ā ā ā ā in the game has to throw you into the air or knock you backwards, which is pretty ā ā ā ā ā ā ā horrible for Swordsmen in particular since they basically have to be in range for things to hit them - unless they can just dodge it.
Make STR damage increase be [STR/10]%. Which means that at 800 STR with no DEX will give 80% more damage (which is fair since you pretty much die way too fast) and reduce the physical attack increase of STR by half. Ofcourse do not apply this to int since that would be OP. Or make STR give HP (40% of what CON gives)
This actually dips into dps too. Melee skills with long animations are very easily interrupted (aka wasted) when going against short animation normal atks that knock back (even just a slight nudge). Take the halloween event for example. I canāt use [umbo blow] there because it takes a ridiculous spin animation before the skill does any damage. A normal atk from one of the monsters there pushes you ever so slightly back and cancels the skill.
I would say put half of CON HP in STR for starters (so 40HP per STR).
As for my illogical, knee jerk reaction to stats, take away all offensive components to stats and have them all just be ādifferent ways to surviveā.
Think a slight change to str is okay unless ppl really want hard scaling to make doppels and fencers damage go through the roof. I mean I donāt mind as a fencer. Think the 30% treatment like swordies should apply to archers as well while swordies get slightly more crit rate from dex. I would also love concentration to give flat dex or crit rate instead of the stupid bonus damage really with lvl 15 being +50. Just my opinion
The only solution i found would be to rework all skills/stats maybe introduce a agi stat?
Dex gives to much and int/str to lessā¦
Some stats could give a Resistance against some cc skills.
Anyone noticed this?
So, SPR or STR ?
@STAFF_Ethan @STAFF_John @STAFF_Max @STAFF_Amy @STAFF_Ines
If SPR, then we can wait until R10 for IMC to start balance it.
EDIT: ignore this post if it;s actually STR.
instead of increasing the stat in itself, we focused more on improving how skills scale with it.
Instead of making stats viable to get, they really just thinking of min-max types of builds increasing skill effectiveness promoting more meta in game and breaking their own āādiverse class systemāā.
Wouldāve been great if we still have a lively population ingame, and endgame not pressuring players to reroll for meta builds.
STR already gives too much compared to the other stats and it scales with the rank⦠I donāt see any reason why STR should get any buff. Why are people even crying when they could spread their stats instead of going all into one stat just because of āmagic rainbow scalingā?
I learned from RO that going into 1/2 stats (you could basically max two stats at 99 base points when reaching lvl 99) is always wrong and proves to be fatal.
However, TOS already provides so much utility with simple 1-2 ranks in certain classes ;
E.g. Archer provides dodge rate/critrate buff and defence debuff, making it possible to spread between DEX and STR.
Thauma C1 provides matk buff and INT-> CON conversion, Wizard C3 provides +50% matk buff. This enable the Wizard players to use full INT builds and just switch INT for CON if necessary.
Peltasta gives DEF buff, Hoplite gives Block buff.
@kaixermax The post is 100% correct.
Itās about INT and SPR being not really effective, but IMC will start rebalancing INT and STR and make Cleric skills scale better with more SPR. Too bad we donāt have anything like Thauma in the Cleric tree to balance/convert SPR to INT or vice versa.
But everyone has to agree that SPR and INT are way worse than STR/DEX/CON. 1 Matk for INT and only a little bit of mdef[1/5 of SPR with the bad scaling], SP recovery[1 point], 13 more max SP, 1 block penetration[which is pointless for most Cleric classes anyway] for SPR.
If it werenāt for the SP recovery, SPR would be even more pointless than INTā¦
Ahh okay. thanks
There are not much players left in every servor outside out peak times.
If the top brass really pressure people to reroll for metas, itās not worth to bother with them.
I played 9 hours a day since 3 weeks, I saw only elememe wanted for Earth Tower and one dude once asking a filler player.
If they like so much meta but not enough āslavesā, they can wait all day long.
My idea is rework more skill and make some gear or Monster Card will got bonus effect when reach conditions stat. Also each stat should have different resist agian CC.
Example : When Str reach 100 or more while increase xx% P ATK. When Con reach 100 or more while increase xx% HP/Block. When Dex reach 100 or more while increase xx% Crit damage. And etc.
Or When Str reach 100 or more while increase xxx% slash type damage.
DEX should be splitted into AGI , DEX and LUCK
AGI for flee and slight atack animation reduction (maybe skills)
DEX for hit and minimum atack
LUCK for crit rate and critical atack
The build diversification will increase with this new parameters.
