INT vs Every other stat

I’m not going to say you’re wrong. There are some things I would like to point out though. You’re saying that there are only two classes on the wizard tree with high DPS, pyromancer and elementalist. However how many classes on the swordsman tree have high DPS? Barbarian. Barbarian and what… maybe hoplite or corsair I guess? The other swordsman classes rely on their skills to deal damage like mages. I’m pretty sure everyone is behind in DPS compared to a barbarian. Is that a problem? Not really. Barbarians have their own specific niche. They do high damage auto attacks.

What do mages have? Mages have a ton of AoE they can use safely from afar. This is probably the biggest benefit of mage DPS compared to swordsman DPS. Archers and Swordsmen can’t dish out the same AoE damage mages can. Also, the mage tree in this game seems to be a lot more utility focused than other games. Mages don’t have to do DPS to be useful if they don’t want to, and that’s fine I think.

I don’t know why you think that with your utility focused class choices you should be doing more damage than a Barbarian. Your DPS is low because you have a lot of utility, not because the stat that you spec into doesn’t give you enough stuff.

Yeah giving up on the staff seems like a good idea however for Fire Ball, it really hampers the movement since you’re probably then required to run up to the enemy and cast it there instead of far away and hit it towards the boss.

Also, for SPR, do you really think that it is necessary or required for a build? The SP and SP regen is of minor concern to me but is Magic Def and Block Penetration worth the SPR instead?

The only gems I ever wore were blue ones, I can’t recall if any of their socket spots lowered max SP, but I know i had one in my body that gave something like 70 SP so any negatives shouldn’t have shown up when leveling.

Not saying you’re wrong though, since I could just be remembering before I had a body gem inserted.

Hail and Energy bolt?

Well… all of the elementalist skills are AoE. I think it’s the only one with a wide variety and range of AoE skills in its entire skill set. Everything else is mid range and an okay AoE amount. (considering we’re limited to 3 AoE limit or 4 with Staff)

I’m not considering EQ, fireball, fire pillar, meteor, lightning bolt or prominence “ranged”

FB and EQ - Spawn directly in front of you, fastest to just drop it in the face of the enemies
Pillar and Meteor - They do have range, but they are far better used after mobbing up a group to cast them on. Especially pillar with its low duration. And the long CDs on both
Lightning bolt - You’re locked in place while using it and from what I’ve seen the initial range going from your hands to the first enemy isn’t that long.
Prominence - Starts from where you’re standing, kinda bounces around semi-randomly but generally tries to follow you.

In most cases for Pyro/ele you are in the face of the enemy when not kiting/waiting on CDs.

Any non-barbarian Warrior or Paladin/Monk can take as many utility classes they want, go full DEX and have a high AoE DPS just with their melee cleave, plus “facetank” anything with evasion.

As for Archers, as the same as you said for mages, they have some heavy focused classes for AoE, but can still go full DEX for damage and survivability at the same time.

So actually, thinking better, I don’t think “INT is bad”, but rather DEX is too damn good.

@Garrnett
Idk if spells can be blocked, maybe that part of the stat was meant for Clerics since they are the “SPR class” and use melee.
As for magic defense, it’s only 1 point every 4 SPR, but defenses are weird in this game, so I think it’s a nice boost.
However, the main reason I raise SPR is for SP regen, lol. I almost only need to use pots against bosses or mobs with huge HP, when I need to use Psychic Pressure for longer periods.

I made an Int Priest, I was able to do extra heal, extra damage. My only problem was hitting flying units.
Next beta I’m planning on making a Psycokino, and I think that since I’ll be able to levitate stuff, dissipate fireballs, teleport I should get increased weight limit. Carrying things with my mind is very difficult. What’s the point of telekinesis if I can’t carry more stuff? Oh I should also be able to fly like Jean Grey or Magneto.

Fire Ball + Psychic Pressure was nerfed. It only moves the Fire Ball instead of making it an AoE now. I don’t even understand why they did that since most of the time the enemy would walk into the Fire Ball to make it go away and ruin your combo anyway
Telekinesis is super situational/barely useless for PvE.
Pressure + Fireball was nerfed, can’t do it anymore.
Teleportation is garbage, worse than Flare/Ice Blast, like that was even possible.

truthfully I’m hoping for some buffs for int, or at least some hidden classes that are strong requiring x amount of int :stuck_out_tongue:

Where did you saw it? You said today. Any CBT still running? Any streamer doing stream? Please tell us! I want to watch them. I’m on my withdrawal period of this ToS addiction. Even watching can help me on this. Please!! :mask:

Pretty sure that KCBT got an extension to their CBT so I’m assuming Satoru is playing KCBT  Lucky bastard.

Pretty sure CON also increases your block rate so that’s five for it.

But yes both damage stats are lackluster espacilly int, maybe int should also give Magic amplification when you up it.

Do… do we even know what magic amplification does yet? I was wearing gloves that had +8 magic amplification and I still had no clue what they did.
That’s right, I am playing on KCBT extended.

There are no streamers, because it’s the test server. Videos and screeshots are forbidden now, sorry.

it’s a beta, barbarian is already nerfed, wait for the final release and play the game for at least a year, then you can talk about buffs/nerfs/changes.
you should check pvp, mage classes can literally 1shot every class with the right build. PvP balancing is more important then PVE balancing.
Int is fine as it is.
Only Ele’s Meteor with full INT can do that. Which is a bad build for PvP.

You can see by Steparu’s video. On the first PvP of the match an Ele almost killed everyone on Step’s team with Meteor, because they were all in the same place for like 4 or more seconds. But on second and third round the Ele could do nothing and his team lost the match.

Any ranged attack or CC will stop the cast. Also, it has high cooldown and need to hit more than one person to be worth anything. If anyone see an Ele on PvP, they won’t stay all packed up waiting for death.

That’s why Wizards are going full CON for PvP and relying more on utility. Full INT gets shutdown easily by anything, and the damage most of the time is not even that good.

BUT, I agree that we need to wait more and see how the game fairs when a bunch of people are max level. IMC is just fixing what is broken now, more refined tweaks will come with time.

It’s kinda easy to dodge though ;v

But that’s just my impression. I need to see more pvp vids.
