If You're Going To Play Solo

Don’t be a wizard. Ever. Don’t do it. Its a terrible idea. The already grindy game becomes so grindy that you will cry tears of blood as you are forced to grind on monsters well under your level for two or three times as long as everyone else to get the same results as them, because if you try to grind on monsters your own level you will either die or it will be a major waste of resources. With the high price of mana potions trying to solo monsters your level will make you use potions faster than you can make the money to buy them. You’ll be using about 3 mana potions for every 1 potion you make enough silver to buy.

And this isn’t complaining about the exp rate, so don’t bring that drama here.

I mostly solo level because I often get disconnected, horrible lag spikes and don’t want to drag others down (also hate it when people in group are so shamelessly KS’ing eveything they see). Currently a circle 3 Wizard. Don’t know if the grind is very bad for me because of this or not.

Note: I am not bringing that drama here, just wondering.

To get a swordsman to 35 took me 1/3(or less) the time it took me to get a wizard to 35. So there’s definitely a big difference there in my experience. Money is a limiting factor, If you had millions of silver and could just chug mana potions to nonstop use your magic on everything then it would probably be possible to level up at the same rate as other classes.

It’s all explained here why wizards are not efficient in solo: SP regeneration ticking is too slow and needs improvements

I don’t buy SP potion. When I’m out of SP, I just go find a place to sit down with bonfire then switch task and start causing drama on the forum.

I’m playing as a Wizard -> Cyromancer -> Cyromancer.

While I do have pressing SP issues, I find that I get more than enough loot to level + buy pots + repair my gear and still have a little profit. I gather a mob, dump Ice Pike on it (oneshots the mob) and repeat. Works well in Chappel.

I did the same with the ghosts, earthquake lvl 5 oneshots them as well.

It’s all about finding the right mobs to grind on.

Lvl 56 Wizard Circle 3. I solo’d most of my way. My autos do 100+ damage with bunny hopping its really not that hard. I did most quest bosses alone just fine.

I don’t know if it’s same in iTos or not but in KR most of my time I’m playing alone.
At around lv 70 or 80 I have play wiz > pyro > pyro
I have no problem to killing monster lv 90 White Pino with fireball skill.
This also work on many other higher level mob. As long as it’s not too high up level.
I use method of place fire ball and kite around, It’s still risk dying though if happen to do wrong moving step.

From whole time I play I don’t have much sp regen problem except when I was wizard and after I change job to sorc if I use my summon skill. My build is not full INT but add up some Spr. Currently at lv 181 with 38 spr and include some sp regen gear I have max 2021 SP / 132 SP regen. But honestly… My regen is kinda fast but regen at high level not really worth, if you run out of SP while fight you’ll end up to use potion anyway. It’s help at lot at low level though.

I do agreed about SP potion price. High level potion selling in NPC shop is about 1k/1 potion. I’ll make me broke if I keep buying this.

Take note that larger SP potion is meant for more Regen RATE, and weight efficiency. If you just need more SP amount, stick to the smaller SP potions.

For those of you replying, what is your stat build? I went 3:2 int:spr and am facing great sp difficulties. I’ve heard the same from 2:1. If more spr isn’t helping, then maybe going full int is the way to go if I still have to chug potions non-stop.

Problem with wizard is that you depend on kiting, AoE skills and SP - getting hit kills you very fast unless you heavily invest in vit, dex and defensive equipment, but doing that will really hamper your farming speed.

Personally, for going Solo I prefer archer/ranger, the skill that gives you movement speed while shooting is great for kiting, they have enough damage to shoot contemporary mobs a few times to kill them without crit, the dex means high evasion which means whatever you cannot kite you can probably dodge, and there are skills that give you huge single target burst if you need it.

I’m not sure but I was focus to put Int. I add some spr randomly when I feel like I need more regen/max SP. So far at lv 181 I have 238 INT and 38 SPR (no +spr or +int gear).

Solution:

1.Go to grind spot
2.Type in “pt plx”
3.Profit

In all seriousness tho, I haven’t touched wiz yet, ^^
I can imagine it would be difficult enough to play without any magic shields.

Game is built for party play. If you play solo you are playing wrong.

“playing wrong”. Lol.

You can pretend all chess pieces are Queens but that isn’t playing right. Games are designed a certain way and as such are intended to be played in that manner in order to fully maximize the synergy of mechanics. Games are not random assortments of mechanics laying about. They are intended to work in certain ways.

Well it’s not wrong to play solo. I saw many people playing solo but playing in party are way better.
Especially once you have trouble to solo stuff, party is a good choice to do.

There is no such thing as playing wrong - there are ways to play extreme man mode edition, though.

Is it wront to play a plate mailed auto attack mage? No. Is it effective? That’s probably also a no. :stuck_out_tongue:

Similar to that, you can get quite high in the game by soloing anything from quests, mobs, to bosses. It’s just not as easy.

When a type of play is not within the confines of what the developers designed the game to compliment, it is playing wrong. There is a difference between less efficient vs. more efficient and ignoring design vs. abiding by it.

I may not play the most effective way for various reasons but I don’t play it wrong. Even on the blog, they say that they will make it so people who refer playing solo can also have their way.

Game is built with a strong social aspect but the developers never say the game is only for party play. Party play may be more effective on what we have known, doesn’t mean it is the only way. You are just a player like me or anyone else, don’t pretend that your way is the only right way.
