Ichor - aka the next level of ridiculous RNG

Blue stuff has (way) lower rolls. If you farm velco, it’s a huge chore and you want just the best of the best for it

13kk to reroll EACH cube, you don’t want to enchant that gear with low stats…

And rerolling Primus for 3M each in powder and the extraction for 5M each in powder is cheaper? Don’t think so…for the “average player” it will be going for “lesser stat” velcoffer at first since even with lower stats, getting a blue one with 4 is just way better to realize.
Getting the velcoffer equips is NOT the hardest part of the whole thing.

i think the best saving money option is berthas, cause it requires 58 powder each try while the blue takes 38 powder but lesser stats

Someone got lucky here on Silute and managed to extract a Masinios Staff Ichor.

I think there is a normal progression here:

Velcoffer weapon + subweapon first.
Ichor extract rates are higher for the weapon if input from people here is right.

The rest is pretty much not worth the trouble, especially if you’re already using a Solmiki set or decently upgraded & transcended primus equipment itself.

In fact, the gains are marginal at best. So I don’t believe it’s actually worth blaming another game mechanic that’s badly designed by IMC.
I’ve already given up the thought of getting Velcoffer items, except for the weapon and “maybe” the shield, since the few extra stat gains over Solmiki aren’t worth the additional time investment.

It would also require me to farm all those shards/gems again to transcend the whole thing again, which feels ridiculous since I’ve already got enough defence and magic defense for all content.

And I don’t see a point sacrificing my 2 socket equipment(upper/lower body armor) for 1 socket equipment. What’s the point?

Getting those extra 495 matk if I happen to roll for 48 INT on every armor piece doesn’t seems so rewarding for me.
I’ve got enough base CON and SPR also isn’t much of a problem.

There is no point unless you’re a whale or perfectionist, especially considering you lose the 7 part set bonus (+571 matk, +571 patk, +818 patk) if you don’t start off with a 4 part set of Velcoffer equipment.

My guess is that Velcoffer actually never was considered to be worn as a complete set, but instead partially replace the armor parts of Solmiki (e.g., you first get Velcoffer weapon+ Velcoffer shield/sub-weapon, then continue with shoes & gloves, and your set bonus will be replaced[+571 patk, +571 matk, depending on your set] with marginal losses but at least some potential gains via green stats).

After that there is no point to continue replacing items unless you want to get access to the 5 part skill or need the additional stats.

So, thinking about this logically, there is only the extraction issue of 2 armor items(gloves&shoes), 1 weapon and 1 subweapon for the majority of people until the next cap& next legendary item set.

Judging by IMCs statement that Velcoffer is better than the next caps primus gear defencewise, we can deduce that the defence difference between Solmiki armor and the next cap primus also won’t be that huge.

This means that, in the end, the Solmiki equipment can last you through 3 caps (330,360,3xx/400) and that you go to all these lengths for a marginal stat improvement.

Meanwhile, the good Solmiki equipment is presented you for less time dedication and with certainty.

If we look at this from the current perspective, the ichor system somehow doesn’t seem so bad anymore, since we don’t need to advance at all costs to Velcoffer set to be viable for the next upcoming content,
which is nice considering the steep difficulty progression of other MMORPGs per cap in comparison.

I’m done for like 2 or 3 years…

The idea of rerolling stats and transfering it to another items is a great idea on paper. It encourages people to search for what they want depend on their purposes, like pvp players would want block pen, evasion, pve players would want raw green stats or something like that. Not like boring solmiki items. But the costs and rng make ppl want to give up on it. What’s the point of new contents and items if noone even bother to craft and use it? So if you want to use solmiki set til the day this game closes then fine, it’s your choice, but I want to use the new set, new skill at 5 set effects and im giving my feedback to IMC to make this new system less frustrating so anyone even the most casual player can afford it.

For the record, the chance of success is exactly 5% regardless of the item. Datamined it myself.

As for my personal opinion on the system, I have no issues with it.

Question: if it is possible to transfer rerollable stats onto velcoffer equips - is it possible to re-roll them afterwards for higher values since Velcoffer IS a higher than primus grade item? If thats the case then extracting ichors from blue grade items and re-rolling later for desired stats should be the way to go, imo…

NO. Why should the game allow this.

Patch came out on the 29th IIRC. Still nobody selling Ichors

Noone’s gonna sell their ichors unless they got it from yolo 0 pot items or really lucky within a few first try. Cause simply the rate is so low you can’t be risky to earn profit from it no matter how lucky you are. Surely most ppl even whales already wanted to pluck their hairs out trying to get ichors, why would they want to sell it?

As far as I know, it is not possible, since Velcoffer set is not categorized as random status equipment.

Solmiki isn’t really boring, it’s just badly optimized (except the leather set).

But, while it comes only as 3 different sets, it still provides enough defence with a decent set bonus.

As I stated, Velcoffer is designed to work more like a slow replacement.

Btw, while we’re at boring, nothing is more boring than having to farm hours after hours in Hunting Ground just to get a few Primus grade gears (which might not even be the ones you look for),
which then have a high chance to have only 1 stat (no-one would ichor that for dozens of millions).

This is boring. Day in day out the same monsters, the same frustration of getting only crappy gear with bad stats.
And that’s not the only repetitive content required for Velcoffer.
You have to run Velcoffer Nest, farm the set effect enchantments and Saalus since you no longer can extract your shards from your current gear.

4x repetitive practices in contrast to ET & Saalus for Solmiki equipment.

Have you tried it or disagree only in theory. From my point of view if a piece of equipment can have/has random status applied to it - it is a “random status equipment”. Technically you are re-rolling re-rollable stats and it shouldnt matter where they are…

And it would make sense from progression point of view - you can have higher rolls/better stats.

Suggestion: The only thing that random stat system lacks is an ability to lock stat(s) from re-rolling for an extra price (Tera Online had a decent system on this).

So, finally after breaking my 2nd Laitas Gloves and around 3000 sierra powder, i managed to get my hand on the Ichor from the 3rd gloves. Each crafted Laitas Gloves costs around 20m, and sierra is around 40k each. That means i lost 180m for this Ichor. Jesus i have no idea i spent that much just for an freaking Ichor… Then, i tried to convince myself that it’s worth and proceed to the next step: Equip the Ichor.

I swear to God that my heart skipped a beat after climbing all the way to the Fedimian top just to find out that i need ANOTHER 720 SIERRA DUST AND 180 SHARDS just to equip the Ichor to the glove. I was like: ARE YOU FKING KIDDING ME? This keeps getting worse and worse. Then here i go again convincing myself that this is fine, after all the fail attempts i’ve been through this is the last step.

Well, it’s not the last step. The last step is apply a set bonus, from 5 different random sets. Before trying, i thought that this could be the easiest part, since the chance is like 1/5 of getting what you want. But hell no, after spending 30m on 10 solution bottles, i still havent get the set i want. At this point i feel nothing but frustrating. Oh well, what did i expect in those layers of RNG…

The whole experience is not fun for me at any parts and if you ask me if i want to do it again. Well, I swear that i won’t. But afterall i’m happy that i (almost) finished my first Velcoffer gear. You can read my story then decide later if u want to do it or not. Personally i think i will stick with my Solmiki for awhile, at least until this whole system is better.

That’s kind of what I’m getting at, it’s been more than a week with this shop section, I check every day, not a single Ichor. Nobody will sell them because they are too hard to get, but here we have a market category dedicated to them instead of just dumping them in with equipment or materials.

IMC failed and now it’s just a matter of pride, how long can their pride keep them from giving reasonable rates or removing this dumb category.

People will sell them, not many ofc. Not even for very much silver.

Summary

Its a dumb system, but “for best endgame gear… for top players” and its not like its ‘needed’.
:tired:

i guess because things get slightly better in the future patch when the primus droprate is quadrupled, and the sierra amount you get from dismantle is doubled. But right now in itos i think ppl should save their resources and ignore ichors, just wait for that patch.

Another solution would be to make an option on 0 potential items to double the price without consuming potential. Still way to expensive in my opintion for the marginal possible improvements over solmiki but at least u can save ur irreplaceable one time item. And for the raid 330 stuff u can choose to just craft a new one and safe the money.

It’s ok as you’ve got nothing else to spend silver on except equipment and attribute points at endgame.

So it’s actually helping the economy very much if the players spend their dozens & hundreds of millions on Velcoffer instead of flooding the market with it.

After watching the Dragon Nest economy inflate like a baloon over the course of 3 years, IMC is still very effective in collecting the silver from all kinds of players while not destroying the overall balance that much (if we exempt the +40 weaponry).

As long as people are happy with marginal improvement, that’s fine.
In my case, I’d rather spend my millions on buying attribute points to max the attributes for Exorcists Rubric&Aqua Benedicta than wasting them on “potentially better equipment” that has too much insecurity in it to be worth the time&ressources spent.

Especially considering with how many others you have to compete with for the scarce resources[i.e. good armors/ichors/recipes].
Sure, the improvemt is costly (~200 million silver from level 80 -> level 100), but it is absolute and is a complete progress for however long your character exists (i.e. including future Ranks that provide better equipment options); i.e. future-proof investment.

Also, 20% more damage is not a shabby thing, that’s 1% per 10 million spent.

In contrast, by ruining your bought equipment, you lose several dozens of millions for recipe, practonium, possibly materials and the ichor kits or at least several dozens for an item with 3-4 green stats, sierra dusts and ichor kits.

That’s 0% improvement for up to 200m or more each ichor, unless you’re not using Solmiki, thus not losing equipment set boni by exchanging the specific items one by one.

There is no point in quickly getting the new gear. Velcoffer will probably stay relevant till Rank 11 or 12, which is until 2019/2020 (if the game survives so long). That said, there’s still a time frame of over one year to get the items slowly after improving everything else first that will stay on your character (i.e. attack attributes, status points,levels,etc.).
