Just because you didn’t spend your money on it doesn’t mean someone else didn’t.
If someone has to pay for it, it doesn’t really matter, someone is still gaining an advantage due to IRL money, and in this case it’s 2 people.
They earn silver from a arbitrarily generated in-game item with high demand for their money, and you benefit from the actual token. So you are still “Paying to win”, you just don’t know the person who paid.
Just because you didn’t pay for it, doesn’t mean it was free.
The in-game economy is still being arbitrarily effected by an item that wouldn’t exist otherwise without somebody paying real money to gain the benefits of its existence.
lol what a moron. It really doesnt matter. You think i dont know someone else has to buy them? ill use your famous argument “how does this affect you?”
IMC doesn’t need to say anything on this as this request would be well down the list. For someone to ask for a complete reset because their forecasting may predict that their build will be complete trash down trash down the road would want a full reset just for the sake of it. You still have more than enough time to prepare other 200s (and it doesn’t really take that long to make).
I support the idea of a rank reset, but I think your options are very restrictive. Many of us have characters that are simply permanently back-burnered because of horrible build choices - they aren’t worth deleting because character slots are relatively cheap and there has already been a lot of time invested in them.
I think offering both an in-game method (once per month, singular rank reset after doing a questline?) - and a cash shop method would be the best way to prevent it from being P2W.
“People will create an easy-to-level build and reset their class after”
Can be prevented with a restrictive circle reset (i.e. single resets with timed penatlies of up to 1 month).
Unless you’re a whale, you wouldn’t do this and spend a fortune on circle resets just to have an easy time leveling.
Even then, all classes can gain levels just fine solo up to rank 7. Why not just make the perfect build you already want and just buy other valuable items with that cash? It’s impractical and a big waste of money.
Second point:
“It kills class diversity because everyone will change into the meta builds”
Again, class diversity is already dead because there are plenty of meta builds available out there already, and I’m sure most of the new F2P crowd had enough information to follow up with known and tested meta builds and whatnot.
In fact a form of circle reset can promote class diversity because people can test odd and unorthodox builds without fear of having wasted hundreds of hours on a character that may or may not work well. It’ll also allow people to experiment by changing one circle of their build (i.e. Plague Doctor to Kabbalist) without having to make another whole character with the same build that the previous character had.
3rd point:
“People would change to Templar/Squire/Alchemist/Pardoner”
Simply disable it. Not much issue about it. The Templar should not be able to be changed into or changed out from, while the rest can be changed out from but not changed into.
You’d think people would actually spend a ton of $$$ just to change into a moneymaking class. It’ll probably take years of selling your services just to pay back the money you spent into being able to change to that class. It’s highly impractical and just doesn’t make sense to do so, so it’s not an issue.
Well does it really make you that angry when there are items like tokens (basicaly just a sub) on f2p games? If you consider this too p2w you have seen much sir. Current situation is good even tho I hope they dont add any too heavy p2w options.
Just because someone has to pay for it doesnt make it bad. Or did you think this was a charity game? Of course theyre trying to make a profit here…
Oh and he mentioned the ability to buy it from the market cause you can. Let someone else buy it for tp to keep the game running and you can just use silver yourself. Or do you think token is an economy breaking item? If so I’d like to hear some opinions since the player has to hunt the silver first which doesnt equal into money added into the game from botters but instead just moves silver between players.
You seem to be just demonizing anything that costs real money. I dont see why. You dont like capitalism and the current money system?
The problem lies beyond players choosing an leveling efficient build then reset later. Unlike other games whose focus is in the end game, the developers of ToS want the players to enjoy the journey of leveling their characters. You can see from the huge amount of cut scenes, quest boss fights (although bosses are recycled) and storylines in the game. Every region has its own mini story, sometimes spanning over a few maps.
With this focus in mind, ToS needs a diversity of classes to go thru all these content, so that during DG50,90,115,130,145,160,175,190 there will have enough tanks, healers, dpsers and support classes for everyone.
With a reset function in game, how many of these tanks/healers/support will you have for every level? Do you really think that players will choose to go full linker support just to party and gimp their solo time instead of choosing a easy to solo build and use that “1 month once reset” when they reach 200+? Do you think it be easier to get a holy trinity (Tank, Healer, DPS) party for the pre-200 dungeons when lesser ppl choose to go Cleric2 and prefer the C1+melee build since it levels easier?
Class diversity is not dead, there are still players who are willing to take the unbeaten path currently. Like what I mentioned previously, With the ease of a reset in game, players will more likely to have the tendency to give up on a non-meta class and choose really what works than stick to the non-meta class and exhaust all ways and means to make their character work.
With a class reset available, how many of the players will choose to stick with their current build than switch to a meta build which is more efficient?
How many are you going to disable?
What if Dievdirbys in a future patch their valkyrie statue skill allows them to “save map positions” and offer warp services like how an acolyte is in RO? Disable Dievdirby?
What if in future fletchers can sell arrows to other archer classes to boost their damage? Disable fletchers?
Doesn’t it seem ridiculous that a game has a reset but it only allows players to reset to a few classes and is not universal?
As I’ve said, you will use real money to change circles/use a reset.
Thing is, would everyone be willing to pay possibly a huge sum of IRL money just to change their class? Not everyone will. F2P players will still be there to cater you as your tanks/healers/supports because they wouldn’t spend a dime for the cash shop. They won’t go out magically just because there’s some expensive cash shop item that lets you change your class. Even level-headed people who like to spend money would rather choose to buy something else that would help them later on in the game, like tokens. Resets are just resets.
This game is advertised as F2P so the majority of the players will still be F2P, which means those classes that are difficult to level will still be played regardless if they prefer to stick to that build for endgame.
People who will only avail of the service just for this very purpose of just easing early levels will only be the rich people, and if they want to spend that money to do that then they should be free to do so, more money for IMC, they waste money, nobody’s really affected.
They don’t gain any particular advantage compared to others once it comes to endgame, because everyone will get there eventually.
I’m not saying there aren’t any people still going for unorthodox builds. Sure, there are, but they are most likely people who’ve already made plenty of characters already and are more than eager to try something new.
But every new player out there won’t jump in with little idea of the game with a new build, and instead would look for information regarding the most effective builds that would make them relevant endgame. And yes, people play for endgame, nobody invests hundreds of hours on an online game without thinking of endgame competition and viability.
This game isn’t as complicated as it may seem to be. If you research hard enough, almost every inch of game mechanics have already been explored by korean players as well as CBT and EA iToS players, and there are already notable do’s and don’ts when it comes to character building.
Also, as many people agreed, a restrictive class reset prevents your worst case scenario from ever happening. Nobody would be able to jump from one complete build to another with, let’s say, a single circle reset with 1 month cooldown. Unless they’re willing to wait 6 months and a fortune worth of TP to do so, then I’d say give them that reward, they’ve waited and paid enough.
And let’s go over this fact again: it costs money. So if you’re an F2P player with a non-maximized build but wants a meta build, you don’t pay money to change it, you simply re-roll. You’ll max level this new character before the guy that wanted to change their whole build could even change 1 or 2 of their circles.
All I see here are what if’s. What if’s don’t go anywhere but just down the theorycrafting chute.
Now, to address your concern, what classes could be disabled from being changed into with a circle reset? I’ve already relayed it. Templar, Squire, Alchemist, and Pardoners. Except for Templar, they’re classes that provide a monetary gain and don’t have skill sets that help them in battle at times, which means players who chose those paths should at least have some form of privilege into raising that kind of character.
Templars are also unique in that they are guild leaders. Changing into and out from Templar should not be possible simply for the sake of the guild you’re leading. As well as the granted privilege for players who have raised that character in order to land the role of a guild leader.
And now the what if’s are all highly irrelevant and does nothing to support that claim. Also bonus point for mentioning RO as if it’s related to this discussion at all…
If they suddenly gain some sort of utility where they can sell services, then sure, why not. Add them to the list. But eh. The developers have more stuff to be concerned about than suddenly adding services to classes that were already established beforehand to have none of it.
In any case, I don’t even support this idea. I’d say let everyone change to any other class as they please. Remember that if they ever decide to change their class into those money making classes, they’re spending money to do so. As I already said in my post, why the hell would anyone spend money to turn their character in a money making character? Especially when silver gain with a money making character like Pardoners/Squires/Alchemists is fairly low due to excessive competition and taxes. It would take months or years to get the money you paid to change into those class back into your wallet. As I said, it’s a waste of money. And I’d say let these stupid people who do so waste their money, at least IMC gets some benefit out of it.
Ok, I’ll stop using other games as a basis to discuss ToS since ToS != all other games. With that in mind it is also ok to say since ToS != all other games, ToS need not follow what other games are doing like having a reset since they are different.
Whether reset is under the TP or not isn’t really helping in anyway, players will still get to it. You are basing the fact that only paying consumers get to use this functionality, which will widen the disparity between paying and free to play players. Reset is detrimental to the game, whether it is one circle or 2 circles or the entire tree. To justify having a reset functionality in the game, the developers will need a good enough reason to include it.
Having a reset functionality sure will mitigate some problems with class disparity are higher levels, but it doesn’t solve the problem at all. Non-meta builds will still be underused and therefore lesser knowledge generated from players. With lesser information even lesser players will use it, it is a vicious cycle. Balancing will do much better than having a reset functionality.
Next a reset functionality creates more problems as the core game feature doesn’t really promotes it. Developers want players to invest more time into the game. and rerolling classes to try new builds adds to that. Things like Team experience adds to the notion that developers want us to have more than 1 character to try new builds. With a simple TP-based reset it stops players from rerolling. “What for reroll when I can just respec and be another sub-class with just money?” With lesser time spent the lesser chances for players to purchase their DLCs. With the current iteration of the game it already has limited content, and with it adding resets to it will lower the chances of retaining paying players which are the players the developers want to retain the most.
In short, the middle ground to solve this with a reset that satisfies/justifies players needing a reset, players not needing a reset and the developers vision of the game. The reset cannot be TP based or easily achieveable. It has to be something in which players have to invest time and effort into.
Eg: Reset to char/job lvl1 of that particular class level and having to grind back to the character’s original level without any quests to help (if they already completed the quest)
so what your saying is…imc decides that alchemist tincturing and item awakening are op and need to be removed , casual player has spent a few months making a build perfect to be an alchemist…suddenly its the players fault he should be punished for it and reroll like the scrub he is right? SMH
when 600 lvl cap is out and some player wants to reset something they have spent a year making which got screwed over by the many, many , many ways they can get screwed over…then they will quit and game will die
just kidding the game will die before 600 lvl cap is out
When will the balance be solid enough to solve this problem? It would take a lot of time. IMC don’t even know what should they do with pet, summon classes because they can’t find out their identification, most money maker classes stuck at 220 because nobody want them in party,…
Wizard+ Ele, fletcher C3 are everywhere and always be needed, class diversity is a lie, there is only punishment to those who dare to try something new.
I don’t like mainstream meta build but I hardly enjoy my Necromancer, the corpse system is frustrating, high cost skills, mediocre damage for boss fights, unrealistic for lvl’ing with party, pvp is a joke…
IMC want players to make multi-character for different purposes like money maker, pve, pvp,…not wanting them to reroll because of poor balance.
Lvl cap will raise, major class changes are coming, nobody know how rank 8 classes work. We really need limited circle reset.
