well it’s because I like two handed swords. and yes I already have Fencer. I have never said that people should not get DoV, never have I encouraged them to not take the skill lol. why ya’ll aggressive. :joy:

I just don’t like the skill. that’s just it. sure gives a lot of damage but at the cost of 0 defense? Nah. I don’t like being glass cannon. if you guys like DoV then take it by all means. 150% damage boost is no joke. but I don’t like and I won’t take it. won’t stop me from playing my Doppel though.

anyway discussion is about High3 vs Barb3. there will always be 2 sides. my advice for OP is to just test out both. see what he likes best. It’s not that hard to level anyway.

Cartar Stroke is about 3-4 times stronger than seism.

Since it’s divided into multiple hits and if enemies die in the earlier hits cartar will move to other enemies that means cartar stroke is capable of hitting A LOT more enemies than seism. The hitbox on cartar stroke is also better.

Seism hitbox is under your feet almost like cyclone. Cartar stroke you need a good position to effectivelly catch up many targets if some die.
So if we consider only mobs 5k hp and a basic 4 AoE AR default, your cartar stroke will hit a max of 4 medium targets(if some die) and seism will hit always 5 no matter what you do.

Cartar stroke is strong but its impossible to that reach seism AoE AR. Unless you have 11 AoE AR like me and don’t take barb 2 on your toon.

Edit: Here a example:
Mob leather 5k hp
AoE AR 4
Cartar stroke lv 1
Seism lv1
PA 200
CA 100
2 HSword bonus

Cartar Stroke = 704*4 = 2816
Seims = 2136

As you can see, seism will hit 5 targets and cartar stroke 3.
PS: In cartar stroke scenario I’ve removed the -25% penalty

Some people just don’t really get it. I was the exact opposite of most people, I was a HL fanboy until I actually tried barb and understand it deeply.

Seism w/ default aoe ratio can hit 4 medium targets and 1 small.
Cartar stroke w/ default aoe ratio can hit 2 medium and 1 small for each hit for a total of 8 medium and 4 small.

Cartar stroke is atk x 1.5 x enhance x 4 hits
Seism is atk x 1.7 x enhance x 1 hit and requires giving up r6 doppel or skull swing the biggest damage boost available

Thats why I’m trying to pass it to him, maybe some people isn’t ready to accept some truths.

You can’t get seism, skull swing, and doppel in the game build.
It’s not worth giving up anything for seism since it’s one of the weakest attacks in the whole swordsman tree, anyway.

You probably worded it wrongly (with giving up doppel R6). Anyway, what you want with Barbs isn’t seism damage, it’s the stun placer. you should have realize that by then if you’ve played barbs long enough.

For damage you have warcry and frenzy, even with HL3>Barb1 builds there’s this room where you have to AA, this is where you use frenzy.

Warcry is always available with cryo-chrono support if we’re talking about WBs, and there are many reliable -def sources to replace skull swing. Once you use skull swing everyone benefits from it right away, so the real advantage you get here is on instances.

Everything of meaning is immune to stun, you should have realize[d] that by then if you’ve played barbs long enough.

skull swing adds more damage than these against bosses, has better uptime, and works right away without some stacking BS.

Cartar stroke has no multiplier other than 4 hits.
Seism has 70%.

Do you know warcry can works like a pseudo armor breaker?

Cartar has 50% modifier too iirc

Anyway, HL1>barb3 builds actually get both seism and cartar lol so no need to argue on that point further
