Gather Round and Hear My Plea

Greetings fellow traveler!

You are welcome to join me around this fire. Take a seat, and lighten your load. Dinner will be finished soon, and I have beer, or water. In exchange I only ask of you one thing. Will you share with me your story?

I have traveled many worlds, making a way for myself, and finding adventures. Learning the hidden wonders of those worlds for myself, I have come to find that the quickest way to a higher understanding, is to ask those who have come before. As I am just arrived, the burden of this question falls to you.

So tell me veteran of this world and the one that came before, am I better off adventuring through this land with fresh eyes, or would it serve me to travel back to the lands of Ragnarok, so I can be better prepared for the dangers of this land?

Needed all of that just to ask if this game is like RO and would be fun for you? Seriously? lol.

Why not? I enjoy writing, and I figured this would be a fun way to introduce myself.

You can enjoy writing it’s fine, but some might start a drama war or something stupid similar here, you know, it’s internet.

People just don’t like role-playing anymore. :frowning:

It’s not the usual, bland intro.I like it.

The community here is a bit torn at this time over what’s going to happen to our version of the game,as we watch what Nexon is doing to the Korean version. The simple answer is what I tell everyone else here lately: Relax, have patience, and keep an open mind.

Read some active topics here to get a gist of the complicated answers.

Either way,nice to meet you~

A sad reality.

Our efforts on that are just brushed like we are talking some alien language lol.

@Azurill do a search on the forum on a post for a translated interview from Korea, there are most of the key points that IMC is proposing for this game.

Speaking of direction of the game, you gotta let me know what you end up doing nando.I still wanna gift you and the other user who helped me out before.

Will you leave it at that silly, no need, the feeling is enough.

In short, no, u dont need previous experience in the world of Ragnarök Online to enjoy ur new journey in Tree of Saviour.

Altho ToS is the creation of former RO Lead Developer, Hakkyu Kim, the similarities between both games end there. RO was based on Norse Mythology and ToS uses as background the Lithuanian one. Some core mechanics (like the base/class leveling) are almost the same.

People tend to compare ToS to RO, mostly cuz of the reminiscing art style (the scenery and characters, all thanks to MAGGI), which bring a strong sense of nostalgia. A big chunk of ToS community is made of current/former RO players (like me, but I left around Juno release), and many of em believe that ToS is the spiritual successor of RO (some claims ToS was marketed as such. I never saw it myself, but w/e lol).

I hope this bit of information can help u. Welcome Saviour.

EDIT: Thanks to my current hangover, I forgot to add that some ToS BGMs are also composed by soundTEMP, which is well known by RO players.

Fresh eyes will give you a much more modern point of view of the game. Just throw yourself in, and if your enjoying yourself, that’s all that matters.

No I will not.I would never have been able to play if not for your help.

If you don’t give me your IGN when we go live I’m gonna go rabid~

@SuicideSamurai Speaking of role-playing, is there a decent community here for that? As much as I enjoy writing, I’ve never done it in game(role-playing) and I think it would add some flavor, for me at least.

@Melon I’ve read a little, I’ve been browsing the forums since I discovered this gem of a game last night, and I’ve heard a little bit, but I’ll have to dig deeper. There are usually a few key things I tend to stay away from in games, and as long as I don’t see any of those, I’ll likely be giving this game a try, as soon as I am able. Also, thank you for your kind words, and it is nice to meet you as well. ^~^

@nando20xx Thank you for the advice, I will certainly search for that. And I hope my simple question doesn’t cause any drama, that certainly was not my intent.

@Gunnr Well now. This, this is exactly what I was looking for, thank you. I do have one more question though, if I can impose on you again. You mentioned that they share some core mechanics. Could I use RO as a sort of introductory teaching tool, so I am not completely lost when I first start? I am not a new player to MMORPG’s, but I do know that each one has it’s own learning curve, some steeper than others. Basically, would I make it even more confusing for myself starting with RO, or did you find things familiar, having played the previous game?

I may have to build a bigger fire, a much larger crowd has stopped to share their story than I would have imagined. Luckily, I always have plenty of food and refreshments. ^~^

Hahahahaha, but it was the same, we just ended up in different servers.

You might find some, like me, i do love RP, but as i said on my first post, you might find some “jewels” that come up with the most “intellectual” come backs for your writings lol.

No problem man, welcome to the community.

Well, I believe if you can find the right people, putting up with the wrong ones can be rather simple. But I thank you for the warning, it’s always best to prepare yourself for the worst. Though this community seems rather welcoming so far.

Well confirm it for the live version through PM,okay? Just do it for me :U

@Azurill
In regards of mechanics, yes, u could use it as a learning tool, I suppose. However, ToS also brings a new assortment of mechanics, but other than that I wouldnt see any issue.

And, as I said, it does bring a sense of nostalgia. I played RO for about a year and half to 2, and never cared to return later. So in this matter Im not the most suited to answer that, precisely, but from what Ive experienced so far, it looks similar (which encourages even more the comparisons lol).

Ok ok,i promise, it’s hard when there is women fighting to be near you (as if)LMAO
