EXP Rates are OK

I’m done with these stupid EXP threads. It’s a CBT, with content ready for no more than 100 levels, isn’t even the focus of the test, and people are judging exp rates like its a release version.

Giving a VERDICT in a CBT - Golden.

Devs know EXP rates need to be adjusted (and probably the easiest change to make) - now go focus on other things that are more constructive.

Consider the fact that devs have been testing various EXP rates during the latest KBT.

Then consider the fact that eastern players have higher thresholds for grinds.

Then put 2 and 2 together: There must’ve been a large dissatisfaction over too, where the current rates were much more likely to be acceptable.

Finally, consider the level cap will be over 300 (rank 5 unlocks around level 135 and there’s 3 more past that).

These rates will not stay. It’s just a fact.

Yes ! I don’t get why people comparing the game with RO saying “RO is considered grindy but it took me 2 weeks to go max levels when according to my calculations, it will take me 50 years to get max level on ToS”. I mean, nobody in their right mind would say that for their first play and without knowledge of the game, they could get max level in 2 weeks in RO.

You shouldn’t don’t underestimate the power of knowledge, even more so when there is so many classes.

ToS is a freaking baby and I’m pretty sure that people will find ways around and get ways to level up faster. For example, I’m pretty sure an organized party with the right synergies could grind in level areas 40 levels higher than their own, we just don’t know how to do it yet.

And maybe it is one of the direction of the high level areas, you can imagine that people are being capped at level 300 and the amount of XP they have to get is surreal, so those player will have to find a way to kill 400 level monsters efficiently. Maybe that’s how the game is meant to be played. But we don’t actually know what the end game is. If you consider that the end game content is at level 500, then heck yeah the EXP rates are too low. If there isn’t much to do at level 500 then you don’t know EXP rates to be too high But you don’t know that, most of us have 5 days beta knowledge (some more with korean beta and compile knowledge from those betas) and don’t see the full scope of the game direction.

Oh and it is still a beta, other XP rates will certainly be tested.

Sry everyone, next time I will pm him instead of hijacking the forum to talk about another game. But right now I want to show how stupid he is. (He isn’t stupid for not knowing something, he is stupid to keep saying something is wrong while his knowledge on the subject is all flawed. And the tone of his talk is all cocky to boost.)

I am deeply impressed by you. Congratz on successfully making me reply.

You call this proof? At the time, these people didn’t even have Louyang (it was only implemented in 2004).

  • 2004: Louyang (fight Migao at early middle to middle base level), Ayothaya (fight Leaf Cat for some quick middle 1st job level).

  • 2005: Einbroch (Metalling and Geographer for early middle to middle base level).

  • 2006: Lighthalzen (Bio Lab floor 1 for mid and mid late level, floor 2 for late level Sniper, floor 3 for party late level Sniper).

  • 2007: Nameless Island (mid late party or late solo), Mercenary System (buy mercenary scroll before rebirth then go to ayo_dun to quickly get to Sniper, can also go to other places for base level), Moscovia (farm money at late Hunter to have gears and stuffs for effectively leveling after rebirth).

Those are just some examples. There are a lot more to talk about but I am not going to make this post a long leveling guide of RO for you. Also don’t forget about support from friends and guild mates. That I still consider myself having a limited knowledge about leveling in RO.

You go all the way to 2003, where many people didn’t even know Stingers exist to prove what? Can you use your brain and stop humiliating yourself???

I’m pretty sure an organized party with the right synergies could grind in level areas 40 levels higher than their own

Truth is:

(1) We get a penalty in EXP for fighting monsters much level higher than us.

(2) EXP scaling is pretty… well not good + the said penalty => You get less EXP per higher level monster you kill than lower level ones, while they will be much much harder to kill.

(3) You can mob and easily kill many lower monsters pretty fast.

(4) You will do overkill on lower level monsters. Overkill will give you x2 the EXP.

(1)(2)(3)(4) => You don’t get to level faster when you know more about the game and fight monsters much higher level than you. Rather you will get punished by doing that.

Also another important thing, I don’t know if you can deal more than 1 DMG to monsters at 40+ level higher than you, if you can then I guess you encountered a bug. And you tell me people will fight monster 100+ level higher than them? As I said many time, this isn’t RO pre-renewal, the gameplay design works totally different.

So that sums it up.

Yeah, I didn’t take into account those points, but it doesn’t change the rest, we don’t know when the end game should be considered. And this is crucial to know how the EXP rate should be. I didn’t compare the gameplay design too, I am just explaining that with knowledge you can do a lot more than how it is actually. Maybe you can’t kill 40+ level higher right now but maybe you can kill 100+ level higher later ? Why should this be impossible ? Though I also think with what you said that it should be impossible.

I actually found 2 ways to killer high level monsters.
One with a bug (level 177):

And another one where I killed a 197 level lemuria monster with a trick, I’m going to post it on another post. It is not usable for levelling though.

Well, those are all assumptions. If your assumptions will turn out wrong then good luck for the future of the game.

At least all the things I listed here are facts that all point to one thing that the game forces us to level by mobbing lower level monsters and punish us for doing otherwise.

I didn’t say anything about getting rid of the grind but making it… Well, screw it… I’m out. You are right.

so this Mr.hardcore grindfest elitist wants to shut me up because im not into his fetish
sorry, didnt work unless you put gun on my head and make me love grinding

there is even some Lv10 player on the other thread demands lowering the EXP rate because he Lv’d too fast, seriously ?

Lol, I was in a party and one of the members leveled 3x within 30min of grinding (this was around lvl40-50), I dunno what was up with that but yeah… keep an eye out on the exp table.
As for the ppl have lives etc, lol please man I have a day job, go out for dinners etc. But that doesn’t mean I won’t progress in this game or have fun with friends. You’ll always find ppl playing at the speed you’re playing at.

I’m a casual player, but I’m used to korean grind games… The dev team already said they messed with the exp a bit, for testing. So when the game is out, it will most likely be higher or same as KR server (since it was lower than KR now). The exp rate felt ok to me in the closed beta. So making it higher only makes it better for me hehe. ^^

exp chart till lvl 300

if the rates wont change we know what gonna happen

this is me when i saw the chart

@CookyKim Like many have said already: we can’t read the mind of the developers and they can’t read our mind, either. The whole point of all these discussions and threads is to make a clear point that the majority of the community is dissatisfied and would not accept this exp rate in a hypothetical release.
We can’t just put our thumbs in our pockets and wait, hoping that ICM will magically guess that almost everyone is not too happy about this.

@Lagslider It’s good for each to take it at its own speed, but the problem is that the wall is so high (and large, because this is not a wall around 30-50 and then everything goes fine, the wall is for the whole game till max lvl) that most people would not go at their speed, they would feel that this game is extremely unkind to people who are not grindfest fans and just drop out, which is the nº1 danger ToS would have if these rates stayed.
We can make all the comparisons we want, say that koreans are grinding gods and whatever, but what matters most is how the western public has/would react, and se have seen it, extensively, and it’s not too good.

The extreme grinding should be a thing that happens to people starting to get into the “late game”, be it 250, 300 or 400. Not to people on their first weeks of playing.

Seconding this. This is an MMO, grinding is part of the deal. After all, the developers certainly don’t want everybody to be max level in a week and then become bored and leaving for other games.

We are talking about a new game with different rates, not a 5-6 years old game. But eh…

I knew you genius will say this. :smirk: Talk about taking things out of context.

– You told me that I never played RO official rate using your retarded meme.

– I told you I did and I did well. You didn’t believe, using another retarded meme.

– I told you that is up to you to believe or not, I just answered your question.

– You dig a post from 2003 to reply me, pointing that I lied because I can do something a person from 2003 coudn’t. I told you why is that stupid.

– Now what you are saying? We never talked about comparing ToS and RO in these post, we are talking about whether or not I did play RO official rate.

Lemme see

So I hope you are trolling because it’s sadder the other way.

BTW, your meme is even out of context. Well your brain would be able to understand any way. :smirk:

Whatever the next thing you have to say, I bet it will be pure idiocy like the rest of your other posts.

is posting nonsense meme the best you can do ?

Jesus christ, if you two want to have a nerd slap fight, take it to pms please. This thread, and - by extension - this subdivision of the forum are thought for serioug beta feedback. This vendetta detracts rather than helps.

Ha…ha…h-oly sht that spike at lvl 285-7, yup nope, that’s breaking the limit for me. That would literally take weeks of grinding to attain a single level. I’d prefer to just get a real job and grind a salary for weeks than that sht… That just isn’t fun anymore xD

No, because if you raise the exp by 0,5x people will get max in 2 days!!!
