Well I gave up. There is no point in explaining to these people whatever.
This.
You find a spot where you can stomp easy mobs with a high respawn rate and just stay there until you can go to the next spot with the same characteristics. Some people do it with parties, which levels faster, I prefer doing it solo for the dirty amounts of money you get from playing solo, but it doesn’t change that I spent my time from level 33 to 52 in the Chapel killing the same mobs in the same spawn spots over and over because there was no better place to do it.
stop comparing RO with ToS, just because the creator is from RO DOESN’T MEAN THE GAME IS RO ==’ similar implemented feature (not in excess) is a yes but comparing the whole game and especially the grind which is the main feature is wrong, just so wrong
Lol wat? You think you can reach lvl 35 in 3 hours? lololol
According to steam, I’ve been playing the game for 37 hours. Do you wanna know what lvl I am? I’m Lvl 56… Now I like a little bit of grinding but unfortunately 75%+ of my time in the game was grinding. I’m not all about that life plz don’t make me grind anymore :’(
A guy in other threads keep talking that there are already people who reached 100+ level in this iCBT to prove that the grinding is okay. Can anyone confirm this? For me personally I call this bullshit.
Currently level 84 - I think the EXP rates are fine. But that’s me - to each their own, this game has bigger issues to deal with than exp rates.

What class are you playing?
Okay, so like what? Four days have passed? And people are like… what? level 30-35 for the most part? Also, you only grinded for 37 hours and you got to level 56? I’ve been playing for 68 hours and I just got to level 61… Then again, mind you, I’ve been taking my time experiencing the game as I go. At my level, the game LITERALLY stops holding your hand entirely. There’s no indicator where the next quest is, no indicator where the NPCs are, there’s LITERALLY nothing. You’re shoved into an area and told vaguely what your goal is by the NPCs…
People complain about “the grind” don’t realize that in most games, grinding to maximum level was REQUIRED to experience the actual true content of the game. In this game, once you reach about… level 45… that’s when the game starts to REALLY shine and I hardly ever think about “the grind” at this point.
Listen… I think what needs to be done is to introduce more quests up to level 40 to ease the grind a little to that point… because guys…
This game is really really awesome once you get past level 40. I was having tons of fun before level 40, but after level 40, you no longer are barred from… well… ANYTHING! Once I got past lvl 40… I felt like I escaped the “newbie zone” from RO once I class changed to 3rd circle rank.
Like I said… I hardly ever think about the grind at this point… It might have bothered me a little before… but not now. I think most of you would have a different opinion if you got past the linearity of the lower level quests… they also block you from proceeding.
If the game starts to shine at level 45 and grinding will be fun then why not make it easier for people to reach this point. It isn’t like there are anything to miss, instead it can avoid giving players a bad impression of the game. I’m 4x too, didn’t play much for the recent 2 days, having spent more time on the forum. Also I think some classes are underleved, the higher circles of Wizard for example. I have no doubt lots of people who play Cleric as well as swordie are advancing a lot further than me simply because those classes are overpowered.
What on Earth are you on about? The quests are the exact same as in the previous zones? There’re still main quest and there’re still side hidden quests? What’s so different? The grind is still very much real in the the 40+ even after the weird exp curve at lvl 46. Grinding to this extent may be ok in KR and JP, but in the West we prefer actual questing and variety than staying in the same spot killing thousands of the same mob to lvl.
Well, find something to challenge yourself.
Earlier I found 2 items that made me go out of my way to kill things that take a while for me to kill, so my ‘leveling efficiency’ drops, but I had fun in discovering the things to finish it.
It was a recipe and a collection drops.
The recipe was for a weapon that’s a decent upgrade over my current one, but requires 1 item I haven’t heard of.
The collection is similar, I have pierce of it but I’m still missing a few thing.
Eventually I figured it out.
The reward of doing all these was a permanet +1 Str/+1 Int and a weapon I still need to invest more silver in to unlock sockets/+5 it.
If you think of it from ‘efficiency’ standpoints, I was slow.
But if you ask me did I enjoy it? I totally did.
And that seem to be the thing most of the ‘better exp plz’ threads never mentioned. They all want to get to higher level, but then what? Sure you might get more skills to use but if it’s still more grind they’ll still complain anyway.
Then once they hit level cap? They’ll start complaining “why there’s no endgame content” or “plz make raid”
By the way, I don’t know if they have changed something about the EXP rate or because of the weird EXP curve, upon getting pass 40 I feel a boost in leveling speed, both in base and class level. Maybe it’s because of the new EQs but this feels so weird, I was so desperate in the late 3x.
Confirmed that @dafuzzykoala is the highest levelled player (Cataphract) on iCBT at 84.
He is probably the best person to give an opinion on these things.
When you reach Lvl 46 the exp to go to next lvl kind resets almost. You only need 7k to go up then 20k, then 30k then 50k… etc.
Yes there is stuff to do while you grind, and yes I also completed the monster specimen collection. But nether the less the grind is still real and not really something that’s liked in the Western market as a whole. I’d personally much prefer more quest, repeatable missions (kill x amount of mob, kill x boss monster, etc), Dungeons, pvp mission, and whatever else. But that’s just me.
He is the highest leveled player. He has the most experience with what the grind is like and how to most effectively level. He is the “hardcore” opinion. If you want the more average player’s opinion… the forum is plastered with them.
finally someone who speak my mind, THERE ARE BIGGER ISSUES THAN EXP RATES!
How can I know he knows the most effective way to level or just because he have spent all his day and night into the game, etc? Doesn’t mean that I am saying his opinion is wrong nor he should play any other way. What I disagree is that his opinion is still an opinion and should not be considered higher than the ones from avg players.

Dammit I edited the preview post instead of posting a new one.
the main point he’s stating is, there are more issues and BIGGER ONES than exp rate
If the highest level achieveable was 80 or 100 or something like that, I’d say its ok to start grinding at level 24-30 whatever. But the level cap is 500, and after playing 2 day straight I only got to level 40(was quite lucky with blues too).
I couldn’t even reach %10 of level cap,yet I’m already grinding,that’s what makes people say its way too grindy.(consider reaching level 7-8 after farming/grinding 20 h total,in a level 80 cap game)
