Dragoon 3/Lancer 2 rank 9 theorycrafting

Hop3 is better than Cata for me. Even with Cata buffs hoplite is more versatile both PVE and PVP. I thought at first, cata with 3 overheat EW will be extremely good but IMC buff pvp cleric and Wiz who are now immune to KD. Shadowmancer and Zealot have that immunity not only that continuous rush stunning is no longer possible. + future KD nerf in PVP. They gave EW 3 OH at the same time making KD in PVP worthless.

Cons of Cata in PVP:

  • 2 handed spear: Shield is indispensable in PVP that Def boost and block are huge + shield 3 gems shenanigans and other stats boost.

  • Stun locking: Not possible anymore. This one is the bread and butter of Cata PVP.

  • Short range: Sure we have speed and new skills that can make the gap closers however what you gonna do at short range? Tank shadow torn and Immolation and new deadly skills of archer and Dragoon fall?. Then new weapon means higher damage so you need more def and magic def to offset that damage threat, while we dont have scaling defensive skills who can support our short range meaning youre most likely to die exposing yourself to all the bullsht skills in PVP.

  • KD nerf: EW, DP, Steed charge all KD reliant skills, however continuous KD will lessen the KD duration every time you use KD skills. EW 3 OH is worthless.

  • Zero Defensive Mechanism: We are melee and yet we dont have this tool not only that the class is advertised as PVP oriented class and yet we have none. All attack no def is the logic of IMC on pvp focused class.

  • Speed nerf: This skill is the only thing cata have and yet it suffered major blow. No one in fcking PVP is crying about this skill and it was nerfed randomly.

In other words, Cata went back in world war 1 meta using spear and horse to kill while new classes are using high-tech skills in world war 3 meta(Nuclear, ICBM, Satellites, Drones, Stealth bombers, Lasers and A.I).

Pros of Hoplite:

  • Shield user

  • Long range

  • Block specialist

  • Can use Shinobiā€™s cloakings (I value defensive skills like this pretty high because of Damage inflation)

  • Scaling defensive skills

All of that are valuable to new threats of PVP. You can just stay at long range and wait until the opportunity to kill is present without taking any risks. Cata is required to melee while hoplite dont have to. Anyway this is just my opinion.

yea, plus dragoon helmet is ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  hideous. iā€™m this close to quitting on this game. iā€™ve had enough of IMCā€™s bullshit.

Dragoon helmet looks like mutated chicken. Maybe cata will get helmet as well in future master rank. Cataphract always wear helmet in combat.

If you were in a ā€œnormalā€ game the company would sell 30 different helmets for euros.
But here like the rank reset (to sell in tp shop that has yet to happen), they donā€™t want money it seems so.

It would be nice if we can wear custom helmet but unfortunately helmet caters only 2 classes and would be less likely to be catered, as youā€™ve noticed they even removed the class restrictions from premium costumes. Iā€™m just thankful enough IMC is not like EA, canā€™t endure microtransactions.

Iā€™d definately buy an ā€œinvisibleā€ helmet, but alas IMC doesnā€™t want my money.

Watch a good cata-lancer play, and it makes me think at least they are fine. Catagoon is dead, but Catalansair is doing well. Heavy rushdown playstyle suits it well.

But they really need to improve lancer skill animation! It canā€™t be just a swordsman1 thrust and a dog bark, it feels like that class is half madeā€¦sigh

Beats me, maybe they all reset to goon3 to take advantage of Dragon Fall ignoring block. I know I did.

Because KR is not a PVP server, im not saying that lancer suck balls but with no competition against top pvp builds anything would be possible including that Fencer 3 Matador 1 with no life killing 3 of them. Matador is a PVP class but i dont think Fencer 3 is a good conjunction with Matador PVP tree. Fencer rank slots are crucial because Rodelero, Corsair and Shinobi are there. Meaning he got beaten by PVE build. Absence of Cryo Kinos is also there, in my server youll see 3 of them every match making life of melee classes extremely hellish. FF is also abundant, levitate is immune to melee then has a threat of one shotting you or 2 shots killing. There is no Murmillo too, we have lots of them in my server.

Murm, dopple and shinobi are in good spot so not all. Cata used to be good before rebalancing then became sht. The class is just outdated + IMC terrible balancing skills. Maybe cleric fetish too. Some archers and wiz are underwhelming. Historical references are also being considered when it comes to swordsman and archers weapons, thats why wizards and clerics can afford to use any weapons because of that very reason. IMC just suck balls at balancing, just look at matador nerfs when it was initially released they thought it was overpowered then revamp later after they learned how stupid theyre, it was really funny, theyre like headless chicken. IMC is just plain clueless.

hey guys i am cleric player but i wanted to make a swordman, i heard that the rod-murmillo and the dopple are the best in dps, but i really like the look of the dragoon. my question is, the dragoon is good or even with the rank 9 and the dragoon 3 is still a meme class?

Surpsingly, my thematic meme Dragoon which was only there to look nice in my barracks and remind me of my favorite Final Fantasy class actually plays smoothly now.

I still find some of its animations clunky, especially serpentine and to a lesser extent gae bulg and detrhone (this last one gets fixed soon with dragoon patch). But on a pelta-hop-goon build, you actually contribute a lot to party play by taunting mobs, effectively tanking them with high block, providing buffs via gae bulg zone attributes and debuffs via serpentine and spear lunge.

But thatā€™s not to say thatā€™s all dragoons do, damage wise they are quite well. The jump skill is ridiculously good: nice AoE range+great mutliplier with a fast animation. The high CD is very reasonable. Dethrone without pushing mobs is very nice for both AoE damage and to keep mobs where you want them due to its immobilize debuff. Dragon tooth has nice aoe but charge time sucks and dragon soarā€™s damage is really high with new attribute, but with only 1 OH right now, itā€™s not that useful. Whenever we get the balance patch, both of those minor issues will also be improved (dragon soar with 3 OH e tooth with fixed 1 sec charge).

Likely one of the best sword farming/solo builds as well. Taunt+good skills to clear packs smoothly.

Dragoon 3 is legit good now in burst damage department. From normal questing to end game contents like ET, Challenge mode/Raid and world bossing. Not only that it will get even stronger in the future because of Hoplite and Dragoon buffs + Fake multi hit fixing that would be given increase in damage to all hits. However like all DPS classes(dops, murmillos), it requires good chunk of silver investment to make it shine but significantly less expensive than murmillos and probably with dopple.

Peltasta is indeed important.

That single circle offers the best taunt skill in the game (at level 5 up to 11 targets, every 20 seconds and +25% hp buff), plus a very good defensive buff (+25% def -5% patk +150 evasion) and some neat + 15% block attribute.

Sword 2 instead would only mean +5ā€™ pain barrier, 5 levels of restrain and +5 levels of gung ho. Nothing that relevant imo.

The skill build Iā€™m using right now is the following: Sw1 - Pelt1 - Hop3 - Dop1 - Goon3
