Does it bother anyone how racist our community is?

I don’t speak Portuguese. I generally play with people that speak English. But I’m not an ■■■■■■■ to people that don’t, just because they don’t.

Does anyone else think this is an issue, or do people just generally not give a ■■■■?

It is a problem. But I think both of us can’t change something about the racism. Such people are too biased and stupid to change their opinion about different countries.

Maybe instead of an animal box, they should make race boxes for kids idk I’m dumb

It does bother me to see a language in shout I can’t understand especially when I see TWO words(Portuguese insults) I do know.

However I don’t think the racism toward Brazilians is justified by any means… but what’s to be expected when we have racism in our day to day lives in America. It’s a real shame though.

Did I just read a 12 year old Republicans first steps towards becoming political?

Maybe in another couple of years you’ll be denying climate change an pretending universal healthcare doesn’t work.

Towards your later years it’s the denial of evolution right? Looking good there buddy keep it up. You’ll be a stereotypical redneck before long.

That said, honestly I don’t much care either. The block feature exists for a reason. There’s no justification to be offended on the internet.

Saying racist ■■■■ about people is more of a reflection on yourself than them.

  1. Brazilian isn’t a race, it’s a nationality.

  2. BRs have earned their reputation and then some. I have played too many games where any global chat is spammed with Portuguese followed by HUEHUEHUE, while they hack, bot, ruin the economy, and generally make a complete mess of whatever game they are a part of. This is not just my anecdote either. Stereotypes exist for a reason, and there are thousands of stories and mountains of evidence all over the internet to showcase exactly why they have the reputation that they do.

  3. Are all BRs bad people? No. However, that’s how the human race works. Instinct drives us to make generalizations based on past experience, so that our brain works more efficiently, instead of separately and individually processing every single detail of every encounter. The world lives and dies by labels, and no amount of SJW is going to change that.

Right attitude, I’m sick of people getting offended over words on a computer screen.

If someone is standing in front of you calling you ■■■■ fair enough. But seriously nobody is forcing you to read the insults that appear on your monitor.

I don’t feel like the ToS community is any more racist than any other MMORPG. This kind of stuff happens in every game I’ve ever played with significant brazilian populations.

I do think the racism is rather childish and would prefer it didn’t happen. But this is the internet, it’s not going to stop any time soon.

I dont feel what you’re talking about. This is normal.
You’re overly sensitive and anecdotal.

It does bother me. They are assholes…the racists I mean…but they wont give a ■■■■…cause they are simply dumb…

@OP:
I don’t really mind, they made their own reputation. We’re in the “politically (in)correct” year, complaining about racism is old fashioned.

That’s an incredibly dangerous attitude.

Doesn’t matter if you’re Brazilian and it doesn’t bother you personally, doesn’t matter if we’re on the internet (terrible excuse – should it be okay to make jokes about the way someone’s mother died yesterday because hey, it’s just the internet, why are you getting angry? It’s not like she’s gonna care!), people don’t have a license to be sh*tty degenerates whether it’s in person or they’re hiding thinking they’re safe behind their keyboards.

I’m not targetting you specifically, but this community really does have a problem. It’s a mix of casual racism, unwarranted self importance and whiny entitledness that needs to be dealt with.

True, but remember that even the internet is real life. It’s like saying that crime and evil is never going to go away so what’s the point in dealing with it? You just keep going and don’t let it slide. Hopefully once everything settles down IMC will start dealing with the more caustic people/obvious racism on here.

It is somewhat concerning how racist the community is, however I can’t pretend it is only coming from one side. There are certainly US players racist against BR players, however I’ve seen plenty of BR players who are just as racist against US players. Just the other day Orsha’s shout chat was spammed with ■■■■ like “Gringos get out, this is our server! BR domination!” and a lot of things I won’t repeat. (And a lot of things I -can’t- repeat because I had no idea what the hell they said)

I don’t think you know what racism is. Please look it up.

Brazilians are notorious for bad behavior in online gaming and this reputation goes back literally decades from within games of every single genre so if you think you’re going to mend those bridges with one holier-than-thou forum post condemning wacism, well you’re in over your head.

I imagined that in Elmer Fudd’s voice, and promptly laughed my ass off.

That’s one of the attitudes I unfortunately had to come across during my gaming experience. Long story short I got KSed twice by the same player and then the dialogue started.

It doesn’t matter what side is wrong, there will always be extremists that will ruin any truce, on both of them.

in my opinion people connect “BR’s” to bad behaviour and such because they are very vocal about their nationality. the ones that act rudely and have BR in their name and such make people notice that they are brazilian.
there are rude and offensive people online from all countries, but most other nationalities aren’t as noticeable so no one would know where they are from and thus won’t connect them to any country.

This is not US x BR.
This problem are for all player and all regions, we have a same problem with Argentine people, br calling they “Boludos”, and they call us “macaquitos”.
This is not particular problem with ToS community, this is a Global problem.
