And Bazooka gives a good 50% boost but the set up is too long and too slow its either by the time im ready = mobs either died / or too near basic attack / cc (knockback mostly)
OK so, on the topic of Dex for cannoneer. I just remembered that crit rate is no longer granted by dex thanks to the combat update patch. You donāt need to pump dex any more unless you want crit damage. Right now my build struggles against flying mobs and is AOE focussed without Falconer, so with that in mind, Iāll take Cannoneer over Musket because Shoot Down will give me some additional damage on flying mobs to suppliment Claymore, and the rest of the sklls align with that aoe mobbing playstyle. Iām not going to care about crit, since I prefer raw damage builds or DoT builds anyway.
Shootdown only has interaction with cannon shot. Also, cannon skills all have incredibly high skill % factors. Itād be foolish not to invest in some form of crit.
So if I donāt want to do a crit build, cannoneer is out of the question? Wugushi poisons canāt crit, so thereās really no reason for me to get crit apart from the cannoneer, maybe broom trap, but thatās just supplementary damage and only at lv 5.
why is cannon shot showing me from lv5-10 is 1049 to 1096 sorta ? but on skill simulator it shows lv10 it goes around 1.2k or more
To give you an idea of how much stronger investing in crit is: With minimal setup, I can kill an entire wave of mobs in 21f earth tower with both overheats of cannon blast and one cannon shot. Iām using three lv8 green gems on my cannon.

Only the DoT after you spread the Wugong Gu can crit. The DoT from other poison skills still canāt crit
So what would be the best gems for canon and crossbow?
Cannon - Red, always
Crossbow:
If you have 90%+ crit chance AND 10k+ PAtk - Yellows
If you are aiming for higher crit chance and already have a nice amount - Greens, but ONLY socket Lv8+ greens or donāt bother
Any other case - Reds
