I hope not! Wizards have better cc options that donāt lock them in a place and anyone canāt stop them using cc. But after all I think that 10 seconds hook still good and if we take corsair c3 we still have the beneffits of equiping manamana, the recent pistol shoot buff and more damage to hexen dropper, and we also can put more points to jolly roger for more money.
Well guys, what are you thinking about the pvp way after corsair c3? What you will take in rank 8? Some class to fill like shinobi, or you want to wait and see rank 9 to choose a path like dragoon?
Iām currently rank 6 corsair c2 and after corsair c3 iām worried about what will happen if we take dragoon c1 and in rank 9 appear something better for us in pvp than dragoon c2. And yes, I really dont know if after maxed corsair c3 I must take a break and wait for rank 9 information, I donāt want to do that if is possible.

I do rmb reading it and with that in mind, went to make a build without maxing iron hook because of that. But that was 2-3 months ago. I tried searching the forums here but canāt seem to find that post. i also tried finding it in the kTOS patches for Swordsman thread, both old and new, no mention about it.
It would be good if someone from kTOS can confirm this. Or is there any TBL/PVP videos from august 2016 of Corsairs using iron hook? Would be nice to confirm.
Hey guys, following the build in this topic, what gems I must get for my equipment to go pvp? I read somewhere that i must go to green critical rate
( due to the high critical rate that i get with items like manamana and sissels) but i donāt know if I must mix this gems with something like red hp gems or green gems for accuracy due to high evasion archers and just 50 points in dex.
I will realy appreciate if someone can answer me, i donāt want to waste materials with useless gems.
well today Iāve been thinking about the following sht:
dex corsair with pelt, but other circles are same
shade skirt & jacket, vubbe fighter + some high tier leather boots (probably with stamina) + brandish/maga + gladiators or better with AoE
same into con, somehow divide between dex and str (more dex investment), take note Stabbing greatly boosts evasion even tho Finestra applies penalty
it will be really good with all the AoE ratio equips in PvE, because those equips are more effective in DEX-builds, and with Finestra you will hit quite a lot of monsters even without circling or link.
in PvP it will do less dmg but survive against archers/swordies. I believe higher tier dex-oriented equips are also incoming.
Iām not playing this game for now tho. Maybe if they ever fix FPSā¦ God, such a pity such a wonderful game has 2 FPS in GvG.
For those of you who were wondering. This video clearly shows that Frenzied Slash works the same way with Iron Hook as Long Stride (look at 2:12 and further).
So if you want to make a corsair without pistol for PvP, you should DEFINITELY go Murmillo.
Anyone know what gems would work better with the hopsair high DEX pvp build?
Seeing how much faster does your STR progress when you invests points into it, Iād say DPS-wise Green Gems are still best. For some reason ppl think you donāt crit in PvP - that is not always true, people have different con, Protection Rune is rather rare too. I guess if you go full dex (which i wont recommend) than Red Gems may work, but idk honestly.
Basically youād want enough dex to hit some evasion threshold (I didnt do the math and dont plan to), then still have high STR as it progresses really well and without it you may forget about hitting through Stoneskin. Then add the gear for that stat which is inferior, to kinda balance things.

Since this is THE Corsair thread, Iāll ask here:
Werewolf cards gives you a % chance of attacks being registered as back/behind attacks (something along those lines). Corsairs get bonus damage when attacking from behind with a dagger. If this means having a dagger equipped (as @Turbosodomy replied previously), Werewolf card would be good, right?
Corsairās Dagger Mastery: Sudden Attack is the same as Rogueās except it goes as high as lvl 5 (12.5% damage bonus). TOSbase lists it as āPassiveā ā which would mean Turbosodomy is right. I donāt have/play a Rogue so can anyone confirm it the damage bonus applies only when attacking with C or not?
I wonder if investing points in STR is enough to get through Stoneskin. It seems to me that getting block pen from items is a better option right now.
In str build there is no such problem as stoneskin at all. I mean, I get blocked, but rarely.
There was a small update with post-fps-optimization vids (all vids were me playing bad tho) for comparison reasons, but youtube deleted all three for no reasonā¦ again. YouTube hates me, apparently.

Itās not when skills + weapons = high damage (Dethrone with Spear + dagger for instance)? Corsair post c1 is meaninless for pvp anyways excet for hook. No love for pirates with R8.

ok Iāve posted them one and Iām posting them again:
Sw3-Cata3-Cor1-Lancer1
Sw2-Hop2-Cor1-Doppel1-Dragoon2 (shield)
Sw3-Pelt1-Cor1-Fencer3
- any non-cata can also add High1 instead of 1 rank of sword or pelt to have even more mobility while hooking
seriously, there are a lot of options for corsairs in r8. just not for c3 pirates xD
But you loose a lot for 5 extra seconds on Iron Hook.
Weapon Swap for Hexen is Hell! I have a barbsair. I quit playing it because shield gives way more survivability.
The only build that could get Corsair c2 and not being set too far behind is hop2>cor2>goon2, IMO. But then you go back to weapon swap issueā¦ or use Hexen only in PvE. For PvE, Doppel is much better because 50% increase in Dethrone damage is better than Hexen and will become more relevant with rank 9+ classes.
TBH, there are less people playing the game each day and PvP/GvG has just a handful of people that didnāt jump to another game yet. I quit my Barbsair and since then have rolled a Dragoon and a Fencer. Iām just playing because Iām curious about R8 content. I donāt see myself playing ToS for much longer.
