Compaions are useless(?)

So, I finally spent a lot of time trying to afford my first companion.
I made some extra Silver so I can also train it.

I feel like I wasted over 150k by buying the Companion and Training it.
At Tenet Chapel it does 1 damage, and also faints WAAAAAY too quick!

It gets knocked out in like 3 or 4 hits.

don’t start by training it at a lvl 40 area when its lvl 1 im assuming?

It’s Lv. 11 atm.

at CBT1 companions were getting xp quicker than the player and many players complainned they were broken ( lv 80 players with lv 140 companions), so they reduced it. They reduced it too much and now they never catch up, which makes them do 1 damage for the rest of the game.

Well I guess this is what Feedbacks are for.
If this was the case, they should buff their EXP back up a bit more then.

The stats scale pretty badly. But you should level him before, of course.

idk if they nerfed the companion experience rate, but iCBT1 had a much lower player experience rate, so companions caught up easier with the player’s level.

i’m guessing the issue here is that in iCBT2, the player exp rates are increased so much that we outlevel the companion.

you can switch between characters, so they are a long term investment to help you with new characters

Yeah they did reduce the rate which pets get xp from cbt1 , it was in one of the patch notes.

Yeah i think as the guy above said.long yerm investment. Right now my liytle fella is 92 and im 120…but i will move him to my new char once i finish this one. Thats when the pet is usefull…also for long range that needs a decoy works well

Smart. It makes sense for it to work that way. Having a companion that powerful can be really fun but then switching it to another character would make it too easy. This way, you can have your companion throughout multiple character leveling stages and eventually it will be tough enough to really make a big difference.

Reminds me of training Homunculus in RO. In the beginning you’re tossing pots out of all your orifices and then eventually it’s healing you instead lol

While I agree that messes up hunters so badly to the point of the class being almost useless.

At least hunters should have an attribute to increase the pet xp growth instead of the useless medical healing that never works and go on a 10 minutes cooldown.

Oh I wasn’t even aware of a Hunter class. What is the bonus that they get from having a companion?

They are awesome when you start a new twink, They eat the early bosses like candy when your companion is 70+

But their AI is terrible, I wish you could set them to passive quick, other than sending it to sleep with the companion menu.

Companions atm are mostly good for alts since they generally are way behind in levels compared to your main/first character. If you don’t plan on making an alt or whatever, then companions are mostly a waste of money (unless you pure grind mobs for a very long time).

Hunters can buff companion stats and their stamina takes twice as long to deplenish , also they can buff the damage of the skill the pet does.

But with pets dying and doing one damage like these, basically any buff is lost, any stamina is lost and any added damage is still one.

So what is the solution that you think should be found for companions? I personally liked the idea of companions and leveling them separately. It’s unlike the RO system where whatever monster you catch is just basically the level and attack you get forever. Is there any way to train your companions to a level where their damage and usefulness is NOT 1 damage?

Companions can have stat upgrades and level to a cap of 200. How I see it is companions aren’t meant to be of much use to your main unless your class uses them. Instead they are an easy way to power level yourself to 200 and try new classes once the level cap is 600. A level 200 pet with stat upgrades should be able to 1-3 shot any boss under level 100.

Useless during our limited beta time at our low level cap? I guess. I still used mine at level 100 to get a few classes I wanted to try to lvl 80 in a few hours but I also dumped about 2mill into it’s attack stat.

You just need to grind on fields and the pet will level along with you, it doesn’t matter if the pet can’t kill, they just need to be there while you grind. To be honest, I don’t think companions are that good as damage dealers if you’re not a Hunter but they can be good meatshields to tank some missiles from ranged enemies.

As a Hunter, if you grind for a while once you get your companion, it levels up pretty quick. and becomes actually useful? I bumped mine 30 levels while grinding and now its only 20 or so levels behind my hunter character lol. Um, idk about how useful they would be to other classes though.
It is true about them being good meatshields though. lol They’ll block almost every ranged attack as long as they are in the direction the attack is coming from.
