What? Why do they need it?
I guess, just thought the game was closer to release as itâs being quite some time in development and there is a 3rd closed beta that is basically a open beta.
Who said ToS is purely a group based/cooperative game? Youâre the only one saying that. Just because its an MMO you have to be with a party all the time to advance or beat a boss. If youâre forced to be in a party all the time then the game will be extremely frustrating since youâll spend more time looking for party members than playing the game itself.
what do you think the word multiplayer in MMO means?
Their auto attacks are way slower than the Warrior and Cleric ones, only hit one monster at a time and canât walk while attacking. They basecally are selfstunning when they do, and they need to do it a lot.
I am level 59 by now, going Wiz - Pyro - Psyco. Energy Bolt and Earthquacke can hit 4~5 mobs, but their damage is as strong as an auto. Fireball has amazing damage, but only hit 2 medium mobs (up to 4 if they are small), Firewall is dead unless you go for Pyro 2, Flare is dead even if you do.
Psycoâs Psychic Pressure is a boss skill, because itâs canceled on the first hit you get and Telekineses has weird hitbox, hitting max of 3 mobs, counting the one you grabbed, and is undone if the grabbed target dies before the max number of hits of the skill was reached.
So, I still need to do a lot of auto attacking and I donât think this will be gone soon. Since I donât plan on dying for mobs because Wiz autos are trash as I mentioned, I have to jump attack to keep my distance and break some of the awful delays.
âMultiplayerâ means more than one player can participate in the game at the same time. It never meant you had to be in the same party nor forced to be in one to have the full experience of the game.
There might be 99th Closed Beta so no⌠itâs not
basically an open beta.
I just reached royal mausoleum at 71 and need to get to 73 to continue the main scenario quest. Pretty confident on my equipment (hawk bow +5 w/2 lv.3 red gems, rokas armor, vubbe glauntets, leather mastery 5, etc). Should i level there or go back a few maps?
It really depends. if you can survive royal mausoleum party/solo then you can grind there. if not go back to the map with the same level and grind at that map instead. mausoleum can be very mobby though just a heads up.
On topic now, as a ranger i can say that you can solo with no problem, but you do a 2 minutes on party boss on 6-7 min solo wasting pots like a freak-o. I play from Chile and i can say that latency to NA or to KR is almost the same and if you know when the attack is coming you can evade it, with or without the little latency you have.
And for those who donât know from 50-60 the bosses stop advertising some attacks with red AoE on the ground, so you should have an eyebon the monster movements ;d they always do some animation before some attacks.
then please play the game without interacting with anyone please~ be a solo and donât group urself or use any cooperative features, please state what u want to say clearly or else you will end up with mis understandings
First of all that response wasnât directed to you. The one I replied to that insisted that the game was meant to be always played with others because he claims its a âsocial gameâ. When MMOs shouldnât limit your gameplay preferences.
And you really donât get it. I already explained it in my previous posts if you even bother reading them. The damage of mobs and bosses seem to be too strong that you can die in a couple of hits. Thatâs a game balance issue and not because its an MMO youâre forced to join party with other players in order to advance or level up. There should be some leeway for solo play.
thatâs what i meant, state ur opinions clearly in one go instead of chunks
I will have to play the game myself to judge this level of difficulty you speak of. I think hard bosses are great, they all should be otherwise it wouldnât be fun.
I actually think only tank classes are supposed to survive more than 1-2 hits from boss mosnters. But there are different types of bosses and some quest âminiâ bosses that are easier are fine. Hard dungeon bosses should not be soloable, though.
However, if it is as @samaelstarke said, that should be fixed as well. No one wants to fight a dumb boss. Compensating a lack of AI with more damage wouldnât solve the root of the problem.
I donât really understand what part of my post is only aimed at singleplayer games. It works with multiplayer games just fine.
About the teamwork bit, we havenât seen almost any group bosses atm, no endgame bosses, but plenty of quest bosses. Quest bosses, as theyâre now, are basically solo content.
Regarding damage, thatâs why I explicitly said it should be based on a average character, IE a character that has the closest to medium HP pool in the game. If you balance damage from the standpoint of your average character with average stats, HP and MP, then you can predict easily how support characters will probably take more damage than tankers, and will also have a smaller HP pool.
Still, the worst problem is the amount of idle time bosses show right now, and solving just that would probably affect the game immensely, without even looking elsewhere on the code. Thatâs why I said they should solve it asap.
More like hard theyâre a pain in the ass. The battle are endless and you got almost no dmg cause the AI is pretty stupid. You just need to be more cautious. (Lv.75 right now)
You know, I think we have brought up an interesting point here, and I might make a thread about it if there isnât one sufficiently close to it. Itâs about how we play MMOâs nowadays versus when I first started playing them around 2002-2004.
I think that tuning a game for solo play is really hard because in most of the single player RPGâs Iâve ever played, you have a party (except for Lightning ReturnsâŚevery single other game Iâve had a party for most of the game). Iâll bring this up later in another thread.
Here, Iâm not in the Beta unfortunately neither I nor my wife made it in so I wonât be able to see firsthand, but when the cameras start rolling for the international version I may check it out to see what progress theyâve made. Difficulty wise I think weâve covered that here. The game looks and probably plays a bit too easy, but I havenât seen any of the real teamwork related things theyâve got going on. I hope it takes a little longer to reach max level and I hope that getting there is actually fun, make me spend a lot of time raiding dungeons. Ragnarok Online (I know this isnât that, just using it as an example) had some pretty cool mechanics for dungeons where youâd put up a little sign for a party, shout for what you need etc. and then go spend a long time in the Abyss Dungeon or eventually we started doing the Biolabs, before that it was like Nifleheim. I liked how if you had the right gear and the right preparation you could solo those areas but you could clear a lot faster with a small party and not have to spend so much on potions.
Then it was Ice Caves, that crazy Church in the desert area with the blue hair and red hair people, and then Nameless Island. It was really cool because for a lot of that stuff you HAD to have a party to be effective there and then once people understood the dynamics it became somewhat simple to go in there solo and rip it up. Around level 90 Iâd take any of my classes to that church and just farm away for an hour or two. But having a party made life easier, more fun, you get more exp a lot faster, and some dungeons almost completely require it if you go up the levels. Payon is the best example of that, as any newb could hang in payon dung 1 but you had to be close to level 40 for payon dung 2 and if you wanted to go to the highest levels you probably needed to go with friends or youâd get mobbed.
Iâd love to see this dynamic in a new game, because it made sense and it wasnât artificial difficulty. It wasnât getting 1 shotted only if you were too slow. But the bosses in that game were no joke, there were hardly any that you could solo unless you were highly geared and very skilled.
Quest bosses are a different story. I want to be able to finish most of the story on my own, as I see fit, but let there be some interesting party story content out there in places where people would team up anyways!
Bosses arenât hard enough, if you can dodge things easily then you can kill bosses 10-20 levels higher than you, which is not only challenging, but really fun! The only problem is if the end-game bosses remain this easy, parties wonât be needed, and that would suck because i donât want to be able to solo everything later on in the game.
i am playing this solo
Well, thereâs your problem. The game encourages you to hook up with strangers (even before max level), which was a carry-over from RO.
