Boss monsters - Way too powerful?

Watching Steparu on youtube in the last CBT I felt like bosses were really easy. Yeah, they hit hard but they telegraph almost every single attack. She solo’s most of her stuff in those vids and I felt like meh, monsters hardly ever even should hit you if you’re ranged and they’re melee.

I think if you have a lag problem that’s something that can’t be blamed on the game. If you have a lot of issues that are not coming from the game it will make the game seem less fun but they shouldn’t make the game easier just because they have some people who have lag.

All due respect, I’m tired of easy games and I’m tired of games that don’t make a lot of logical sense. Like FFXIV a lot of those bosses you WILL die the first time just for the fact that they don’t telegraph most of their moves, you can’t tell what they’re going to do next unless you’ve been in there before or you’ve watched a video or someone else explains it to you. This is especially true with the primals like Garuda, Titan, Ifrit. There’s so much to process and people finally beat it by going into it like a zillion times until they figure out the rotation. From what I’ve seen in ToS the bosses have a rotation but they also telegraph their moves, so if you get hit it SHOULD be a big damage. Not 1hit KO but it should make you say crap…ouch. They’re huge. It should hurt lol.

I was the taking one damage from mobs in a boss fight. The bosses are easy in the sense that if you are not dealing with either lag or mouse you will be fine, and maybe even too easy. The thing i am trying to discuss after my initial salt, is the simplicity of the bosses and how the difficult is only how much damage he will do with one attack.

No and i want that gimmick to be completely removed. And i am a melee class so i don’t know if it works with that, oh and i and i have been progressing just fine, the bosses that don’t onehit me i can just tank because there is no variance at all in boss battles

Yes the lag problem is on me rather then the game. It’s just frustrating how if i get caught in a AOE i will take massive damage or even die, and i am melee class i have to get close.

So this game isn’t actually for you if this is going to be the final product. They are easy for ranged classes, and if you deal with lag and/or mouse issues you are going to suffer as a melee. The thing is, here you only need maybe a minute to understand a boss pattern and you should be good to go and win, that is it, no variance in the attacks, just one aoe, sometimes one ranged attack and the normal attacks. And telegraphing is not what i want in a boss fight, i should be penalized if i am going in balls deep just to do damage, i should first learn and predict the enemy movements so i can dodge properly and do damage at the right time.

agreed, no one wants telegraphing x_x

Being a social game shouldn’t force you to play in a party or dictate your playstyle. What if you can’t find a party, a healer, or simply prefer to go solo? I understand that being an MMO entices to join other players but it shouldn’t limit you to that. I believe some bosses should be soloable especially if its quest related. But major bosses that have a shitton of HP, can kill parties, with rare drops should be dealt with a party.

Well, and I hope they keep it, Wizard tree for sure needs this.

That is what i am arguing. please read before speaking.

What you are saying is that you wanna be a lone wolf on a “group based/cooperative massive multiplayer online”. Sure, i wish you luck.

@Poyui now that you mentioned it. i think that they should add more attacks indeed, but give it time, the game is still on the 3rd cbt. In due time they will improve overall combat including bosses.

Let’s apply some simple logic here.

Is it a boss found in a solo-only area (class quest/other type of solo instance?) In that case, it should be tuned so that players of sufficient level can beat it somehow, preferably - with some effort.

Is it a boss in a public zone/dungeon, where you can bring friends? Then it’s totally fine if it’s capable of one-shotting any squishy class and two-shotting any non-tank class without heavy armor. As it has been mentioned multiple times, it’s an MMO, and that pretty much means “Bring friends for hard content”, not “Solo everything like a boss”. What’s with the Kirito syndrome, anyway?

You shouldn’t come here to whine about your experience on a Korean CBT that you’re not supposed to be playing.

I do not want international players’ experience on a Korean CBT to influence the way the international release is heading and I’m sure nobody else does either.

Latency causes delay which decreases the amount of time you have to dodge things - quite bloody obvious that it’s going to be difficult for you when playing on Korean servers.

There are indicators for boss abilities to make it easier to avoid their attacks, and I honestly feel bosses do not attack fast enough (or more dynamic attack patterns) - but I’m sure they attack slower to compensate for a bit of latency that the player might experience.

The complaints from Korean players when testing was that everything was too easy.

I wish people would stop posting suggestion threads like this from their experiences on Koreak server, international CBT hasn’t even started yet.

I agree with the fact that bosses should have a more strong A.I and a less strong defense/attack. That strong A.I is basicaly the counterplay. Bosses should react to players’ actions, like cancel a delayed attack when you are out of the attack’s AoE; or suddenly strike back when they are under too much damage. Not that I’m against the “hitkill” attacks - actually I think that those types of attacks/skills are very awsome and make famous bosses that are amazing to face - ,but they need to be special and only be used if the boss is near to death or if he reaches a certain health percentage. I also think that bosses should be difficult (difficult more in terms of A.I than power) to encourage the teamwork.

I’m calm, and I’m not a woman.

Better now ?

I believe mostly that if there is no IP block i can play.

But aren’t both the same game and even if one is different then other, i doubt it is anything other then one having more advanced content.

I acknowledge that on my first sentence in the first post, didn’t i?

I know all of that and even mentioned my opinions about that.

Yes, i did hear about that, which still is, the difficult is only in the numbers.

Why? Lag only affects how delayed my actions will take, not the pattern of bosses that we are discussing here at least.

I am pretty sure every boss, even quest ones can be tackled with a party.

It is indeed an MMO, but it is a RPG too, if i want to roleplay as Kirito without the OP part shoudn’t i be able to do it too?
