Boss monsters - Way too powerful?

The only hard bosses are those that (randomly) nuke the whole battleground. Oh, and that black bear guy with his scream attack really creamed my melee guy hard.

Boss. The name say it all. A being that stands on top, something that you aren’t meant to solo!

bosses are freaking hard to kill but exciting, I love it.

More touhou-ish bosses please.

I don’t feel that the damage is off, I just feel that a lot of bosses have utterly broken mechanics to them.

Most bosses are either too weak or too strong. Some bosses spawn only weak traps like reduce Defense or Stone Pillars and the bosses themselves don’t even do anything.

Other bosses spawn traps that prevent you from attacking and the bosses use attacks that hit you no matter if you are within the highlighted spots or not. Which is just stupid. If you already show a highlighted area, then don’t let the skills move outside of that range.
One boss I remember showed a circle around him and his skill just flew far far away outside of his circle-highlight’s radius.
A second boss showed arrows into 4 directions horizontally and vertically, not diagonally. But when you moved into the diagonal areas - away from the highlighted arrows - then you still got hit.

I want them to make the bosses tough and challenging, but please not with Diablo III mechanics where your skill stops to matter because no matter what you do, you get hit.

Maybe some classes have advantage agains certain bosses
I think most bosses are ok (maybe a little buff?),
and a few very hard to kill, like Ravinepede and Bramble

This boss Ravinepede was extremely strong,
I spent many iCoins and a barbarian was trying to help me (died many times too lol)

nah the damage itself is pretty ok. i still manage to survive 80 levels under 1.2k hp with minimum armor

lol this guy was super easy. pyro stomps on this guy so much

I didn’t find the bosses hard when I played the CBT. I tried it with all classes at a time and they seem to be ok? Very easy to dodge… The only thing I hated was I keep pressing WASD to move and keep using items haha

If this games higher bosses are not at least as hard a RO Beelzebub pre-renewal i would be very disappointed.
and unless there are some real hard challenges in this game you wouldn“t have a goal to work towards to :3
just my humble opinion ^^

Bosses should be hard! I love it when a game is challenging.

Yes I was with Cleric c3 =p

Players who play solo shouldnt even consider killing a boss monster. They should stick to smaller low risk easy to kill monsters, and leave the BOSS monsters to the players who gather together an army of players to take down these hefty foes.

This is an mmo… There has to be an incentive to team play. Players who really want to experience the game in FULL should find a group of players that they work well with and strategize to kill boss monsters. And even in large groups players should experience disaster as the boss monster still has the power to devastate their team.

Successful completion of killing a boss monster should only be a result of an extremely well calculated approach, coordinated by a group of intelligent, well-equipped players.

To the solo player, killing a boss monster should be a dream unattainable… The only exception to this rule should be that an exceptional player has obtained gears unmatched by any other player on the server and has a quality that makes them capable of besting a boss monster. Otherwise, soloing should be improbable…

Was about to say that I solo’d just fine… but your last point is pretty true.

+5 Thresh Two Handed Sword with lvl 4 red gems in it and a build designed for high attack. It was the gear and skill that made the bosses doable, and some bosses were a little troublesome even then. I was level 68 and somehow made it through all the bosses up to that point without using iCoins… well I think I used it once on Ravinepede because I ran out of antidotes and on some bosses I already beat with another player (cus I was too reckless lol)

ive had that happen to me a couple times i feel the pain :_)
on the other hand if its not lagging out ive found some of the fights to be rather easy, give it until next beta to really see where we stand on boss difficulty ^-^

In the iCBT I Solo’ed around 90% of bosses and killed them just fine, including Bramble. Even if some bosses should be made soloable, soloable major bosses should only be early game and the current 90% soloable ratio hurts the game.

Bosses should be all designed for group play, else players will only really party for EXP grinding. In fact, there were occasions were people were expected to be able to solo bosses. I once ran into someone who was desperately looking for just a few partners to fight a boss with and was met with ā€œLol, that boss is easy, you should be able to solo it.ā€ rejections. That’s what happens when bosses get too easily manageable.

Let’s face it, deep inside all of us we all expect solo’ing a boss to be an extremely difficult task -> that’s why we love hearing stories about it. When just about everyone in the server can do it though, it gets kinda awkward.

The only really hard boss for me was the very first one in the noob starting area. I didnt know any of his mechanics beforehand and i did crap all damage. He spawned heaps of monsters and i was like level 3…

when I beat him, I felt like… ā€œHell yer! We asked for harder bosses and they are raping my face wahhh!ā€ I thought ToS was going to be something crazy good! But then every other boss was just the same and since i pretty much knew what to expect now, I just spanked them all with no effort or excitement… They really! Need to fix those bosses. They are such a huge part of the game!

I think the bosses I faced were balanced. Not really difficult, due to repetitive mechanics of the fights, but definitely damage wise they were balanced. I played a peltasta, and like you suggested they fix, it took 3-4 hits to kill me. I don’t know what class you were playing, but if you were solo’ing and playing a squishy, then of course you’re going to get smashed.

Mages in my party were getting one shotted pretty often, so maybe they need an hp or defense boost so they only lose 75-80% of their hp in a hit instead of 100%. But as far as tanking went, the damage itself was definitely balanced. In fact, the only time I got caught off guard and died was due to a graphical error fighting the boss just before chapel (the ground move was invisible). It put that ground thing on the floor that pulses and was doing 400+ damage per pulse. Often times it would cast fast, and I’d still get hit by one pulse before getting out of range.

The damage is balanced. HP/Defense needs to be adjusted for squishies.

Cbt1 everyone was saying that bosses we’re way too easy and that everyone was easily soloing them. Now we have bosses that are way too difficult to be solo’ed. I find this amusing.
