Beta-Testing, What should be done?

Hello Saviors and Toasters, Sharp here!

Now, I want to talk about what we can and should do as a community as we enter the International Test that is just around the corner and firstly I will explain what means to Beta-test:

Beta-testing is not all fun and games, well it is but just playing during it is not the entire point and nor is it the most helpful thing we can do! The intent of the devs is to iron out the game to leave it the best as possible!

So when we all fire ourselves up and enter the world of ToS

There are 2 types of reports you should do when you are Beta-testing:

Techinal and Design!

In the Technical criteria we have such things as:

-Bugs and glitches visual and otherwise, they should be reported immediatly!
-Optimization Issues, ToSting on you Toaster and settings options that the game doesn’t have and should!
-Technical Exploits, most of them will be Bugs!
-Mistranslations, when it’s clearly a mistranslation of text report it!!

In the Design part one of the most important things to do is try and stray from the beaten path as much as possible! that means try and exploit the game and do things you would normally wouldn’t, such as:

-Try and fight monsters with levels higher than you.
-Have one character only griding and another only questing and compare what goes faster.
-Min-max a character with only passives to determine if the game is unbalanced.
-See what class combinations don’t work well (Like Hunter-Falconer).

These are only a couple, sorry for the minor hiccup and sending the post incomplete >.<

and stay “sharp”(get it) because Tree of Savior is coming!

What are your suggenstions? What will you do?

Beta is testing and not actual game. Data will be wiped.

and this is something that is an issue we all know in international servers

SĹ‚awa Sharp!

I’m Balien, ancient European dragon.

In my opinion Beta-testing is about showing players the ideas, changing them while game is evolving with players experience. Looking for more good ideas / mechanics for players who are sending tickets about Pros and Cons about beta product. When players discover new content in beta-game they send their reviews about it to develepors so they can constantly upgrade it for future tests. After few beta-tests devs can release game with all players tips and hints about what to do with your product to be closest to perfection.

//Sorry for my English if i made mistakes.

I feel like a key part of the CBT will be the quick-translation tool. This will really make the polishing of translations much easier, seeing as we’ll have some context to the entries.

Additionally, I know it will probably not be the same at release, but if I have the chance to do so, I’d like to test some builds in terms of leveling speed. There is such a large focus on rank 6(+) classes from everyone, I feel like the lower levels are getting neglected in terms of builds. I know there’s the freedom to literally change classes every rank, but let’s be honest - that’s by far not the most effective. There are some classes it will be well worth to have multiple circles in later on, as there is a lot of synergy amongst the ranks.

Players may give suggestions about what they expect to see from the beta test.
There are a lot of us who are wondering about the hidden classes access and information about guild-making.

It’s important to note that we as beta-testers can help the game change for better and shape it into something more enjoyable to us and the new players.

inb4:
Break the game
And do not forget to report every bug

Every time I’ve beta tested a game I never could find anything wrong…THIS IS MY CHANCE :loud_sound:

Report bugs, enjoy, meet people, make articles about all that.

Mostly what I do in beta testing is,… Option and see what my computer can and cant handle, then try out stupid stuffs that push the game to its limit xD got my characters stuck in most games

The idea is to explode the game to his limits uh
(YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!)

I played a lot of CBT and most of the times you are able to exploit the game somehow. Its important to report things as soon as you see them because that will help devs to fix them ASAP, and if you want this game to be released soon its important to help as much as you can.
Screenshots, videos and details always help a lot!
In addition to the suggestions I would add:

-Try breaking quests. Try not following Quest order and see what happens. Deliver extra items in gathering quests, try “farming” quest bosses by not delivering a quest or things like that. Use your imagination.

I think there’s something very important everyone should consider in regard to the translations: continuity. Working on the translations without playing the game makes it kind of difficult to keep track of what’s going on in the story by just looking at each text entry. Sometimes lines right next to each other are related, and sometimes there will be a reference 100+ entries back. So, when you’re playing the beta, please take the time to read through the dialogue. If some npc seems like they’re referring to some previous quest or event, but it’s unclear…flush it out. Give the devs the input they need to make ToS’s lore both deep and fluid.

Yep, context is extremely important.

Another thing is 3rd party program, if you want the game to be a living breathing community, like how RO was, report any programs that can be used in ToS, bots basically killed RO for me.

Get stronger than other by exploits, if it works - report it.
Try to cheat game system, do things that you should not do, if it works - report it.

I guess I’ll try to do some of the stuff posted here. That should make it more fun at least. :frog:

I like the idea wherein you test if questing or grinding is faster. I think I will do that.

There are people out there that uses beta testing to try out character builds to get a head start in the game instead of bug testing. XD

Find flaws in the game system, especially in classes skills.
It’s for the sake of balancing the game itself.
