Be wary of mass guilds

Honestly, I’m kinda surprise at how many guilds are already forming.

Note to the guild leaders, before you create one, make sure you know what you’re doing; the responsibility of a guild leader and the time to do so.

For now, most of the guild that is “forming” seems really weak and doesn’t have a proper foundation.

It’s a testing phase, the leader probably made it for his/her friends and other people joined. But since it’s THAT phase I’m sure the most of the folks that joined the guild are only there to test things out. To wait it out and when the game goes live they’re going to join their friends guild instead. Then maybe, some who likes the guild will decide to join with the next cbt.

Well, many good guilds has started exactly this way.
For players without already defined group of people to play with (friends, gaming communities etc) CBT is a perfect opportunity not only to test the game itself, but to look closely for new people and communities in case they feel a need to have a company while playing.
Also it is a perfect opportunity for ambitious people who want to run their own guild to test-drive themselves.

And I’d really want you to write about this “proper foundation”, caught my interest.

The more the merrier, right?

Well I am he guild leader of Maelstrom and we are all getting along just fine and communicating through Discord. The foundation is not set for most guilds since the game is not even completed. My philosophy is to recuit the most dedicated and kind hearted people which will reflect on the results.

Execution is needed, I’m just being realistic here folks.

Handling guild is quite difficult so take wary of that.

There’s a difference between “a mass of guilds” and “mass guilds”

Just because people are forming a guild doesn’t mean they’re a “mass guild”

Also, your post as a whole seems confrontational.

Even if someone isn’t experienced at leading a guild doesn’t mean their intentions aren’t capable of making a great one.

Noone needs to be wary of anyone. We’re all here to have fun.

I’m just warning every new MMO players here honestly, I don’t want their MMO experience to be ruined just because someone wants to create a guild and they don’t even know how to manage it.

And yeah of course we’re here to have fun but it’s just quite funny how so many guilds are springing up and I can imagine 90% of those barely have any organization.

Your idea of an organized guild may not be the same as someone else’s

Some guilds are hardcore, have tons of rules, and requirements.

Others may not have any requirements at all, and just want people to play with.

The only way someone’s experience is going to be ruined from a guild is from the people in it, not from how it was organized or disorganized.

Even then, there’s the option to leave.

OP has a point tho…
i mean, most guilds who posted early dies out eventually during the open beta phase where most people are doing the actual interactions/activities.
IMO, it is within the intention of the op to warn those people who are easily baited through recruitments sighting the most positive things and the most generic guild goals.

it is the same for guild leaders who are on ongoing recruitment for their guilds, there are also applicants and or accepted members who you will not even see playing with you during open beta.

it is safe to say that most recruitments as of now serves only as an eyecandy, an advertisement for a future community that isnt guaranteed 100% during and through out the game release.

This post is meaningless in my eyes. What was the purpose of this post? Can you explain it?

to warn potential members not to be easily baited and to ask existing guild leaders to reflect on whether they are doing enough as a leader (regardless of whether they are casual/hardcore)?

nothing wrong with self-evaluation, it helps you improve as a person

@elysium That’s common sense. People will just look for the guild that fits their needs. I still don’t see the point of this post.

nah, you’d be surprised how common sense is not so common these days

You still don’t see the point of this point?

I’m just giving a reality check to the players here, like someone else said, most guilds are eyecandy and I don’t want people to get stuck on a guild that will be meaningless in the future because they didn’t think thoroughly of it.

The world isn’t all about candies, there must be spices too and I’m here to all give you the spice; that is a reality check, don’t like it? Too bad

I’m not surprised by human stupidity, but that’s each individuals fault. If they make a bad call and join the wrong guild, it’s their own fault.

People are really salty here, if you feel offended of this post then please evaluate your viewpoint to the gaming world, this is the reality. It’s silly how people are already creating guilds already when there’s not even a guild option yet within the testing phase.

I’m not saying that I don’t like something, I’m just saying that I don’t find this post meaningful. In fact, I gave it more attention than what I should… I guess I must be bored. Cya, salty.
