Anyone got QoL ideas for Hunter? (Besides obvious bug fixes)

Here are mine. Share yours with me below.

I’d say:

Coursing:
-Does a knockdown, instead of pinning the enemy.
-No Overheat.
-Puts a bleed on the enemy in place of the old pin damage. (Now it can work on bosses yay!)

Rush Dog:
-Put the pet’s random Auto Rush Dog use back in the game. Its damage is meager compared to R8 damage, I dont know why it was removed.

Growling:
-Add a slow effect debuff. Think Diev Lamia statue. Although ANY debuff would be nice to help make circle 3 with bosses/players.

What do you guys think?

EDIT: Also, a flat -50%-75% damage reduction on any AoE attack would help it stay alive. (Many games use this feature for pets.)

I’ve been a hunter since the game released, I’ve no idea what’s like to do damage to bosses.

However, I think I’ve grown too used to coursing and retrieve as how they are now. Anyway, they could just simply make them work on bosses you know? there’s absolutely no need to pin the boss to the ground with either skill, they could just make it do exactly the same without the retrieve it or pin it effect.

Now growling, I’d love it if it had an attribute that made the pet get x7 its defense or an attribute that allowed to “walk the dog” so to speak you and your pet both move slowly (as slow as when you get “slow”) and you’re still able to use archer or higher circle skills.

Rushdog : auto rush dog would be nice although I think it would bug the pet to inifinity.

Assuming if it wasnt buggy, how big of a help auto-rush actually would be? (or any QoL to skills for this matter.)

I feel like there is only like 5-10 hunter players on the server, I almost never see them, not even people on the forums talk about it much. Its hard to drum up a conversation with people because no one knows about it or plays it.

Off topic:
(I see you post a lot on hunter stuff, and Ive recently come back after quitting in May, I gotta ask a professional hunter opinion. I’m A2>H2>Wugu2. I know this is a crazy build already, but is Hunter c3 gonna benefit at 280+? I dunno how often growling gets resisted.)

Heh “professional hunter” MY vision is severely hindered by just being a hunter if that’s what you mean, I refuse to play anything else. (Doesn’t mean that I don’t have alts, it’s just that they’re so dull to play)

Now an auto rush dog, would it help if it didn’t bug the pet? I guess it would, if not for the damage, for the stun. although it does deal some decent damage after a heavy investment into the pet, decent being 20k every 5 seconds.

Growling, yes it gets resisted, but aslong as you keep the enemy near the pet they’ll get “fear” (seriously, get diff names for ailments, there’s like 10 different fears) at lv 3 they’ll have to resist 2 fear checks as it refreshes every 3 seconds, and at lv 3 it last for 6 seconds.

Growling is a solo player life saver and its usefulness only begins to shine in group play at rank 8 when the enemies gets so stupidly high amounts of hp that growling can be useful, that is if your team doesn’t have any transcendance. otherwise it’s just as useless as it was during the first 7 ranks. (it’s nice to have at ET or library, not needed though.)

How would you suggest leveling your pet? I best I can think of is to stack phys attk, phys def, mag def, and ignore all other stats.

Also, I forgot to mention, the reason for the bleed on coursing is so that you can do other things with the pet during that time.

About coursing, I’d like to see a whole class rework, we’re supposed to be “crowd control” so far the only skill that does that is growling at bloody c3.

As for the pet, if you encounter a sub weapon with 2 or 3 sockets easy to obtain tell me, The best of the best you can equip your pet would be 2 lv 315 orange cannons with 3 red gems to get 1K damage per cannon for your pet.

Other than that, 2 light gorithos or something similar is the cheap alternative, couple that with 2 didel shields with 2 red gems each and you’d get a geared pet.

All you can stack on your pet is PATK. Ignore PDEF and MDEF it wouldn’'t even matter at r8 content, it wouldn’t get hit for one, at most you’d enable the pet to survive 2 hits instead of 1.

C3 attribute for Praise increases pet attack by 50%.

C2 attribute for pointing decreases enemy Magi Defence 30%

Hopeful they will work on it like Monk/Rune Caster/Cannoneer?

@Composition @ImBlue
I personally go for leather boots on my pet, they have naturally high evasion, so I stack more on them. Its great because it allows the pets to avoid all the pesky stuns, knockbacks, and knockdowns that normally makes you waste a rush dog activation. It gets to the point that the pet pretty much tanks the boss for me or my party (in merc missions). Pets always die to magic, magic is just to OP in this game.

For now I only have Superior Wreech bows (with squire weapon buff) on my pet. This is just until I finally feel like investing on getting it 315+ weapons for both me and my pet (oh the practonium grind…)

I’m with Composition on Coursing and Retrieve, I’m kinda use to it being used only on non-boss enemies now. #RushDogForDays #SnatchingFlyingBossesMelt
My Hunter build is

I find my damage to be acceptable in fighting bosses for not so much investment. I get rank 1-4 in damage for bosses depending on if there are any strike debuffs up on the bosses. Which is pretty ridiculous since I have been using the Savage bow for the +2 hunter levels since I was level 75. Granted I do have 2 red gems in it at level 4.

If I had to have a QoL it would be to bring back the Auto Rush Dog that made hunter pets so great in CBT. Those were the good days.
Auto Rush Dog alone would significantly increase our damage output (in terms of dps) by leaps. It would also give an incentive for other players to actually max out Rush Dog and Praise (since Praise increases the rate at which the pet attacks). Also it would also make auto attacking pets great again.

Sidenote:
There’s easy/clever ways around the bugging pet interaction. (Learned them from Composition :kissing_heart:) Makes it feel like a real pet.

@ImBlue Oh and leveling a pet is pretty easy (If you mean actualy leveling it to 330). Just use it on other characters when you grind, merc missions, or dungeon runs. My hawk and my hunter pet past me in leveling so quick, it is quite refreshing.

@Composition I don’t remember, do pets and to you team level? If so, is it the same rate as a normal character?

Think he meant training the pet, the one where you spend silvers.

Yes to both.

I guess the main problem is that Coursing and Retrieve applies the damage as the debuff they bring, which doesn’t affect bosses. If they could make them separate (full damage in the first hit or a DoT), independent of the debuff, perhaps it might work a little better. At least there’s other damage options besides Rush Dog and (flying) Snatching this way.

I really didn’t like this. I mean, where the 40% of critical rate goes if the enemy is knocked down? And for parties, knock down is a pain in the ass.

I wish to see how this works. I made my hunter after this feature got removed and now I’m really curious how it works. Actually Rush Dog is an awesome skill with low cd, and deals a nice dmg.

It would be great a passive to double damage on bosses OR deals a bad status like bleed on them, since it’s the only skill of hunter which works on bosses (Snatching works too, but it’s just in flying bosses).

Agreed.

Flying bosses melt in Hunter’s hands. My hunter’s snatching deals 20k dmg per hit of bleed. It’s insane.

I’m all agaisnt and all in favor an auto rush dog, I’m agaisnt it because I know it will 100% bug the pet, have you ever issued two orders in quick succesion to your pet to two different targets? it breaks the pet so quickly and it takes so long for the pet to decide which action to take first that it is not funny.

However I’m in favor of it because it wouldn’t be exceptional damage, but rather a nice little stun on the side, sure it deals 12~15K with the items I have, not enough for rank 8 mobs, retrieve does like 140k (in all the 14 seconds though, in that time rush dog deals 40k at most)

OH flying bosses; It’s a delight seeing a flying boss as a hunter, that is true. But, they’re not that common, atleast the newer bosses fly.

I know that rexy, helga, nuaele and mirtis fly that’s something atleast, however amazing snatching is with lethargy. No one in my server ever uses it. bastards.

-Edit-
Yes, snatching does shine on its own, It’s just that I’m salty that no mague ever even the support ones use lethargy. Not only would it boost snatching, it would boost my sonic strike! snatching + lethargy + sonic strike is beautiful and it almost never happens!

Does snatching have its damage increased by Rodelero’s high kick and slithering too?

I’ve never partied with a rodelero, and I believe slithering works (is it the one that boost melee attacks by the dragoon? if tha’s a yes, then yes)

Aslong as something boost melee or strike damage, snatching’s damage will increase.

Yes, any strike debuff will boost it.

Serpentine will affect it as well.

mhm, lovely.

Thanks for the clarifications you two.

You can hit some crazy numbers looking at all the possible multipliers available.

It doesn’t snapshot, so you can Kneeling Shot to increase it,

2h Bow Bonus (100%) + Snatching Attribute (100%) + Plate (50%) + Lethargy (100%) + High Kick (100%) + Headbutt (50%) + Slithering (50%) + God Finger Flick (50%) [Double Punch will not stack] + Serpentine (100%) + Attributes.

Additionally, 60% of that total can be added as holy damage with Kagura. (Which can double vs dark)

Eh, I don’t remember it bugging pets back when it was a thing because auto rush dog was just its normal attack with rush dog added onto it. It was also true “true dmg” in that form because it could easily destroy any of those objects that only took 1 damage in one hit with rush dog.

huh rush dog wasn’t rush dog back then? interesting, did not have the pleasure of playing the beta.

Even then, do you actually run with auto attack on the pet? When it tries to go after an objetive that’s already dead, it will keep going after that thing for ever and it won’t move. it doesn’t want to lose the target easily.

To be honest, I do not know why they thought that hunters used the pets auto attack, they gave us the option to remove it, then they gave us the “enhanced praise” (hah, surely they know what praise does. god damn it)

Yeah, rush dog was just a normal auto attack by the pet that did the rush dog animation (only when in auto attack range) and had rush dog damage.

Yeah I do run with auto attack on the pet, added damage is added damage. I honestly don’t see my pet bug that often. The only times my pet bugs is when I lag and get those enemies that are dead but they are still on screen, or when I mount my pet and dismount. Letting the pet auto attack keeps him closer to the target I’m fighting. This is especially useful when fighting bosses as I have aiming on so I am often further away.
The pets auto attack is similar to how falcons pre-emptive strike works.
