Anyone got QoL ideas for Hunter? (Besides obvious bug fixes)

Hm not really, pre emtive strike goes after your target, ground companion’s auto attack doesn’t seem to prioritize the player’s target, instead it’s like whatever comes closer or attack the player, in a 1 v 1 encounter vs a boss it might keep it closer to the boss, in a 1 v many encounter it makes it unreliable and for that reason I keep it off.

I keep it off so I can keep the pet close to me at all times instead of it wandering around choosing its own target, makes skill cast fail less often due to proximity.

@postotaruma please you’ve already made your point, you’re in a vendetta agaisnt IMC, just don’t come to derail a topic about a class that gets talked about once every century, and like 7 times in the millenium is about a nerf, let us have this.

Yes, sorry I should’ve clarified. What I meant is when you start attacking the target, the first part of the target acquisition which makes the people attack, goes after your target. Afterwards it just does what it does.

Become a hunter! Be one with a trustworthy companion!
Disclaimer: Companions are not yet trustworthy!

I’ve mentioned it in another thread, I feel that there’s no progression as one advanced through the ranks of a class. C1 voila you get skills and attributes!
C2 you get one or two more skills! repeat for c3!

If C2 and C3 added attributes to improve skills it would be better, now a days there are few skills that become better with more skill points into them.

The obedience attribute I’d like if it unlocked further levels to be purchased as one advances through the ranks that’d be sweet.

What do I mean by lack of progression? Well, as you invest skill points into a skill there’s little impact to the skills performance and no difference in its behaviour in many cases. there’s no increased AoE area, The few good ones get an increased duration, that’s about it, increased duration, great…

Companions give in your location under cloaking by facing where you are at.

Those pesky little fluffballs :rage:

Thanks for all the good input guys n’ gals. I typically play utility classes in any game, and its good to see other people wanting some tweaks as much as I do.

I’d just move the +40% crit rate onto the bleed debuff. The reason why I had this is because I hear a lot of people complain that Coursing is “op” in PvP, but from my (indie) developer side, I dislike it because however long the duration is, its unfun for the recipient. At least a bleed can be removed. Retrieve also has the same design space as Coursing (actually better if you ask me).

What would you have for a growling debuff for bosses and players? Do you think you should be able to move with growling on? (Maybe at half speed?)

I do not know why retrieve exist when there’s coursing that is indeed a mistery, and also. YES, retrieve is far better than coursing. more damage, easy to cancel. it even impresses the gals! they yell cute!

As for growling: I’d like it to be able to move around with it, and in PvP? Well, perhaps a small area dispell? I mean you’re frighten you cannot keep yourself together! (could also take that and apply an accuracy debuff instead, but dispell sounds way more interesting, could also you know, force unmount? perfect defense vs catarush!)

Forced dismount would be pretty great actually.

Meh I remember auto rushdog. It was nice, back when Hunter wasn’t a complete pain to raise.

Pointing should be improved essentially working as the boss skill for hunters.
Halving the effect and turning it into % value would help. Throw in some kind of c3 attribute like 25% more slashing and magical damage received.

In PVP the skill should be reworked, like many skills in this game.

It would be interesting put a debuff in Growling, slow in PVP and something like halves enemy defense and magic defense for 20 seconds. It would be great and make Hunter a really good pick for late R8 maps. Actually the way Growling works is really nice, but It could be better.

Just bumping this thread for the sake of my beloved hunter class.

Here’s my build:
https://tos.neet.tv/skill-planner#311222eee.1a214a5465.16253f456a7183.11213f4651618ab5c5

The fact that my skill build is there is to be honest: irrelevant. I just want to bring attention to the fact that I do not have pointing. I’ve always thought of it as a joke skill, saw the description (once again fixed values) saw the video on its behaviour (looses reliability), So I just went ahead and dismissed it.

What does pointing really do? what does it bring to the table? What would improve it?

And yes praise is just as bad with its fixed values glory, I don’t really know why when they touched it. They decided to add an ASPD buff to the pet. Like that means something, oh boy! look at my pet hit 0,5 seconds faster! look at the DPS. Truly my pet is salvaged! yet it still randomly selects targets and chooses to ignore the user’s target, dies easily when wandering around and is overall a mutt.

Bumping.

I’ve described in a couple of old threads how to fix the pet once it’s broken. They’re so far buried now that I guess that those words became irrelevant.

For the sake of those who wish to eventually try this class I leave to you a video all about how breaking & fixing the pet’s AI. it is quite simple, both things.

Also if any @staff is reading, when can we expect a companion UI that shows both ground and air companion’s stats? It’s really a drag having to go to the lodge just to unequip the ground companion so to see the bird’s stats and equipment. also when can we see new falconer’s birds?

I’m pretty okay with the AI right now, honestly, aside from the occassional times it gets stuck.

Hunters desperately need skills that work on bosses aside from Rush Dog, though.
Even if it’s just the debuff part of coursing / retrieve (-DEF/MDEF), it’ll at least make hunters not almost utterly useless against bosses.

Oh, and Coursing does have its uses.
It lasts significantly longer than Retrieve and it keeps the enemy still, reducing the chances of desync.
Works well with skills that require charging time or does damage over time from the other ranks.
(especially Musketeer’s Butt Stroke which is melee range and cancels Retrieve)

Oh fixing the stuck problem is quite easy atleast now.

I know why neither coursing or retrieve can hurt bosses; because they’re classified as CC and bosses are immune to CC. if you ask me, they probably believe hunter damages bosses just fine. they probably go and look and say “it should be working just fine” but it isnt! just enable the damage and disable the pinning!

Yes well coursing does have its uses, but they managed to make the same skill twice. puzzling! and don’t say “oh but retrieve moves the target” yah, but it is fundamentally the same thing as coursing!

I still wish they added attributes to all c1 skills at c2 and c3, and attributes to all c2 skills at c3 and c3 skills why are there some without attributes, growling?

I actually wish they bring back the old synergy between Hunter skills, specifically with Rush Dog + Other skills. Now when you Rush Dog in the middle of a Coursing/Retrieve/Growling, it insta-cancels the ongoing skill.

Also yes, at bossing situations Hunter is incredibly pale unless its a flying boss. Another factor that decreases Hunter DPS on bossing situations are getting your pet knocked back/interrupted when it tries to Rush Dog and then the skill goes on cooldown.

And yes, just like everybody else, I wish we had other attributes to make it better on Boss Fights as well as better things for Growling. We are deemed as a support/CC class, but outside of Growling we still dont have that utility/support kit when compared to for example a Cryomancer’s Frost Pillar or a Dievdirby’s statues(heck, Diev can even now go 100% uptime on World Tree with Miko aka 100% Silence - which used to be the ace of growling)

Ehh. carve world tree is one up growling, since it is very unlikely that the statue itself will get killed, a pet on the other hand…

I am talking about longevity of the skill. Growling when set-up perfectly can outdo World Tree with its duration(well, used to). This setup usually requires a Cryomancer to Frost Pillar while your pet is its radius, or a Diev to Carve World Tree so your pet doesnt die from an initial wave. Its only good for protect/defend instances like in ET - those deemed as afk floors. On DPS floors tho, dont expect for Growling to be useful as compared to World Tree.

It is exactly my point. you see, the pet is way too vulnerable in comparison to those wooden pegs. A skill that should shine due to its usefulness. it is a worse carve world tree. A statue can’t move, a dog, a freaking animal with anywhere between 2 and ? legs can’t move because he’s babbling at some piñatas?!

Growling should be the patrol carve world tree, it has already a smaller radius that can only be enhanced through a falconer 3!

I would really like to have skill queuing for hunter pets. Unlike falcon skills where the falconer need to summon them back, hunter skills doesn’t really need resummoning. So it will be good to have some form of skill queuing.

Like Rush -> Retrieve -> Rush -> Coursing…

The pet will do the next queued move the moment the current one finishes. This helps the hunter a lot allowing him/her to focus on other skills and attacks while the pet plays like a separate extension of the hunter.

If they listen to you, please. remind them to add an “emergency sthap and rush to me” button, I’d dread my class even more when I’m unable to save myself thanks to a queue of commands that will mostly likely break the pet once I’m dead and had to respawn, making the pet’s target be nowhere near and thus it doesn’t know what to do.
