Swordies version of animation canceling still works in out version…
not sure whats up with kneeling shot
Interesting, you have to give up auto aim to do animation cancel. I normally just use the mouse to aim and have space bar held down to attack. Being forced to do mouse clicks to attack faster would mean the loss of auto target acquisition plus pet clicking issues.
Will have to test it myself to see how much faster it actually is and if it works with Kneeling.
Does animation cancel work on 0 cd normal attack replacement skills, i.e., Oblique Shot?
Well, I bit the bullet and went A3. So here I am with Kneeling level 10 tests. I’ll dump data first.
Tree of Savior Attack Speed Test

Compare that to level 5 Kneeling:
Kneeling + no cancel
9 to 25 = 16 seconds to shoot 25 times = 1.56 atks/sec
Kneeling + cancel
36 to 51 = 15 seconds to shoot 25 times = 1.66 atks/sec
Kneeling + Running + no cancel
1:06 to 1:17 = 11 seconds to shoot 25 times = 2.27 atks/sec
Kneeling + Running + cancel
1:52 to 2:03 = 11 seconds to shoot 25 times = 2.27 atks/sec
I normally say that a difference of 1 second is within margin of error. I am not counting frames and some of these could start near the beginning of 1 second and end a second which could potentially add 2 seconds of error.
It seems to me that Kneeling on it’s own has gained a good bit of speed. It went from 1.66 aps to 2.08 aps over 25 attacks. Does that mean that 162.5 attack speed is equal to a gain of .4 attacks per second? Would need a Chrono to help me test. For reference, level 5 Quicken is +150 attack speed.
It seems to me also that I can’t figure out how to cancel Kneeling Shot. Mouse mode Kneeling didn’t increase speed either times I tried. It makes me a little happy that Kneeling + Running did increase in speed from level 5 to level 10 though. It increased from 2.27 to 2.5 attacks per second. Still, this might be within the margin of error, but I like to think that the extra speed from level 10 Kneeling is providing that extra speed. I might want to do a long test to see.
For reference too, the Korean video of an attack speed test had level 10 Kneeling + Running at 2.33 aps…which is close to my own. Except he could clearly animation cancel. Which is strange since he only achieved 2.33 aps when he animation canceled while I achieve 2.5 aps without animation canceling.
Whatever the case, it seems that using mouse mode to attack does cause an increase in attack speed if you aren’t Kneeling. So if you are attacking enemies without Kneeling, make sure to click on them. It seems like Running Shot + mouse is almost equal in aps to Kneeling + Running. Your attack is much less, but you are mobile.
A couple random things here. It seems my ping is highly variable. I live within 150 miles of the server. At my best //ping, I had around 13 ping. At my worst, around 99 ping. This changed literally every second. ToS ping stability is crap.
ALso, level 50 Kneeling Shot attribute gives a literal 50 attack in your character sheet. I did the math on this, but didn’t save the screen shot. So for those that told me that Kneeling Shot attribute was just bonus damage and not a flat increase in damage, whelp I haz proof it is flat damage (which is good).
It seems that you can animation cancel outside Kneeling, but you give up auto aim. Now, does anyone have concrete evidence that you can animation cancel Kneeling Shot.
Help the Archer community with moar science @_@
Can you cancel using keyboard mode?
Fell pretty far. Bump up my post t.t
Does anyone here speak Korean? If so, could they ask the Koreans how Kneeling Shot animation cancelling works? Help us pew pew moar!
If you do not have a target, it will not do an animation cancel unless you’re aiming diagonally south east or north west.
That is highly strange and probably not the full thing. The Korean video is facing directly east at a target dummy and animation cancelling Kneeling.
How are you achieving faster attacks? Can you do it while at any facing when you have a target? Is it actually faster, and if so, by how much?
Me r work at. Can’t do analysis atm.
If you have something to shoot, you can cancel the animation at any direction just by holding down a direction and your attack button (controller tested). I believe in mouse mode you can just hold down the left click button and it will do the animation cancel on it’s own. Without a target to shoot, I’ve noticed that I can only animation cancel in two directions (southeast and northwest).
can anyone tell me what the aps is at compared to all the examples above when using a controller with RS + kneeling shot + holding a movement button(usually in the direction you wanna shoot).
i know it’s much slower if you just kneel and shoot without doing anything but it speeds up considerably if i hold down one of the directional buttons while shooting.
sucks that(if it’s indeed the only method) in order to cancel regular shots on controller you have to spam attack and lose auto aim which means you’ll be firing on random enemies unless you have target lock toggled on which also sucks in its own right.
wait what? normal animation cancelling with controller is just to move normally(holding down a directional button) and holding attack while you’re target locked to an enemy?
that’s pretty much what i’ve been doing all the time.
As far as I know, if you use target lock you can still animation cancel. I can try it out after the maintenance.
Yeah, if you attack standing still, your attack speed should drop. Might be a ping issue if it’s not working the same for everyone. My ping is like.04~ when I //ping. Not sure if that matters.
Don’t think it is as simple as simply holding a direction as you shoot. Think I was doing that in my attack speed tests. Sid at least 100 shots over my tests with directional holds and I didn’t see an increase in my speeds.
Can you produce longer tests vs a a target? I recommend the test dummies near orsha.
this is in regards to normal movement/RS shots, right?
because there’s definitely a noticeable speed increase when kneeling+RS and holding a directional input on controller.
wow, in kuonkuon video you can tell he gains a boost when shooting diagonally southeast…
lets put this magic into science !!
I have several videos on attack speed. I want to know if the attack speed boost is achievable consistently, vs a target, and how much faster it is.
For me using a controller, I can maintain the improved attack speed. I’ll upload a video when I’m free.
How’re you able to maintain the improved attack speed with a controller? Using a DS4 and holding the AA button (square for me) gives the regular attack speed and spamming it gives like ~80% of mouse mode cancel speed.
So apparently is not just ping related, but some trick when using certain keyboard/controller/mouse pointing into a certain northwest/southeast direction ??
its becoming dumb to try and theorycraft, going through nerfs/buffs based on poor coding or a sprite not loading correctly or some bs like that :<
