A functional, fair, and borderline necessary TP shop item

I came up with the concept for an item that I believe should be added to the TP shop:

Artisan’s Pliers: Use this item to remove a gem safely from a socket. This will not lower the gem’s level. Monster gems and level 1 gems will not break. One use only.

During my time playing, I have found that a lot of players (I have tons of screen shots to prove it) do not know you can trade monster gems. A lot of players feel that you should be able to. I am one of those players.

This opens up the option for a cash shop item that would not be overpowered, could be cheap, and would be purchased a lot. Not only that, but it would also bring the knowledge of being unable to trade monster gems to every player. Even if they didn’t know about it, there is now an item that can rectify the mistake of placing a gem in a socket and then wanting it back later.

Furthermore, this would allow players to put a gem in a level 170 socket without having to worry if they would want it on their 220 gear. This will become especially important when the level cap increases.

This is just a basic idea, and I’m sure IMC would want to change a lot with it, but I believe it has some merit.

Please don’t try to make this game any more P2W than it already is.

As long as it’s kept on 5 TP price, it’s fine.

In addition, I think enhancement scrolls for hair accessories should also be dropped to 5 TP.

Token is enough of a necessity for them to earn money, there is no need for additional p2w elements.

If you think this game is p2w…I don’t even know what to do. I know there will always be someone who calls every game with a cash shop p2w, but still…

Enchantement scrolls, Skill reset potions, Token that you sell for silver, Soul crystals, Emergency repair kits etc…

If you think that all of those items in the cash shop don’t give crazy advantage to people who pay then you surely have a problem.

The moment you can buy something in a game with real currency that isn’t cosmetic, the game is considered as “Pay to win”, maybe less than other games but still a P2W or if you’d like, we could call this game a Freemium ( which doesn’t make it any better ).

So don’t try to make it worse with more items like that on the cash shop, I can surely afford it, but I will never put money on games like this, EVER!
Not only it’s unfair for others, but it’s also dishonest towards your customers, the only thing I bought, and will ever buy is the 10 euro access just to kill off the hype, but as soon as they add more non-cosmetic stuff to the cash shop, I’m leaving the game.

Either make everyone pay, or make it truly free for everyone. I have no problem paying a montly fee and have a cash shop where I can purchase skins but the Freemium model is just ■■■■ and is doomed to fail sooner or later.

You’ve literally just described literally every single free to play game with a cash shop as pay to win. Stop misusing terms to suit your vendetta against games.

Please, do just leave the game now. People like you are unhealthy for the community as a whole.

Well, enchantment scrolls drop and with the upcoming guild pvp thing thats coming you can regen 8 tp to get them from the shop for free. soul crystals you can get for free. emergency repair kits i think you can get for free also.

So that makes everything except for tokens and cosmetics able to get for free? skill resets also.

Well, tokens you can buy with silver.

This game is ridiculously fair as far as free to play games go. Someone will always complain about every game though. This guy clearly just doesn’t like the free to play business model. He has described literally every free to play game as pay to win.

That said, this isn’t a discussion about that. I just was hoping perhaps someone from IMC might see this and take note about the suggestion. Monster gems being untradable is both annoying and relatively unknown. I must message nearly 30 people a day telling them that they cannot be removed from sockets or really traded in any way.

I really like this idea. They should make it 8tp so you can get them if you win the guild battles.

That sounds like a fair price for it as well. Even 5 TP so you could get it with free TP would be fine.

They could just make monster gem trading possible in game and remove penalties, but if they don’t make enough on fair cash shop items, they will start adding unfair ones to pay for the game.

As long as it’s not necessary to win the game, it’s not P2W. JFC, I don’t get how people make P2W definition get so far from it’s original meaning.

P2W means you need to pay to win. If the game forces you to pay before you can win, then it IS P2W.

I don’t see the suggestion of OP being necessary to win. It’s just convenient.

Exactly this. There are four types of items that can be in a cash shop essentially:

Pay-to-Win: This would include buffs and gear, especially if they can’t be traded (for any fair price). Anything that gives an unfair edge over a non-paying player in a given situation.

Cosmetic: Anything that doesn’t have any effect on gameplay. Purely visual.

Convenience: Things that speed up your access to things other players will get by playing the game slightly longer such as exp boosts.

Service: Name changes, server transfers, etc…

The first one is the only real problem. Convenience items can also become a problem if they are too powerful. I have seen a game that allowed for 600% exp boosts, which meant it was basically necessary to progress to endgame.

The only things even close to pay to win are enchant scrolls and the move speed on tokens.

You can get a couple of the scrolls for free, or buy pre-enchanted accessories off the market, so it’s not strictly P2W, but the sheer absurdity of the RNG makes doing it yourself, even if you got one free per day (which you can’t with only 5tp max) never reach the level of a paying player. So you just pay silver, whatever.

Move speed isn’t a huge difference (+1 on what, 30 base?), but it should definitely be disabled in combat and PVP if it isn’t already. Moving around in town or from map to map is fine, and they could even double move speed for all I care, but as soon as you’re competing against anybody, even indirectly, then this is unfair.

Tradeable cash shop items makes it LESS P2W since you can just buy them as a free player.

So long as it’s not required to upgrade all your gear to max or something, like insurance and rerolls and crap.

I do worry about that movespeed buff too IF they allow it in group PvP. It would be a very simple thing to turn off on certain maps. Honestly it could just be removed from the token altogether and I’m sure they wouldn’t lose any sales.

I haven’t checked the in game market for them but aren’t higher level monster gems rather valuable? If you could attach them on some low level equip no one bothers to search from market, these pliers item might be used for stealthily transferring them inside those equips.

This could make new kinds of silver transfer methods possible? At least RMT based on the gems themselves if the gems have no selling to npc value. You could always re-attach the gem on some new equip to transfer it to someone else, who then takes it off for his equip, making the gems being tradeable infinitely, with little risk involved of course.

Can you even sell items with gems on it in the market?

Good point. I honestly haven’t tried that out yet, and it didn’t come into my mind that they could be limited for trading too.

I thought I did sell a +5 mace with a lv2 blue gem in it once, not that I could check or anything. Don’t think I would have salvaged it either, since it’d just become a lv1 which is easy enough to get.

Well, the gems would be rather valuable if you could in fact sell them. As it stands now, if you get a gem you can’t use, you just use it as fodder to level up your other gems. Given how rare they are, this is really unfortunate. Monster gems are essentially cards from Ragnarok. Can you imagine if you couldn’t trade those?

As far as the monster gems being used in RMT, they could be, but no more (or less) than any other valuable item. Expensive recipes, head gears, materials, and equipment could all be used for RMT. You can’t really stop RMT sellers from finding a way to distribute silver or items of value to other players; the only thing you can do is try to lessen the annoyance to the average player and ban anyone you catch doing so.

There’s no need for this CS item. Monster gems should be tradeable by default.
