Whole groups of people would chunk tomes if you build random parties you would see 5 tomes again and again and again for hours straight one after another.[/quote]
Are people that mindless that they would all repeatedly pop experience tomes, without bothering to see how much it affects their experience gain?
In most games when I decide on grinding, I’d take not of how much exp/hour (Or how much my % of current level moves) I get in a map after a quick 30~ minute session. Only then do I decide if the map is good enough to pop any experience modifying premium items.
You’re telling me that people just pop an Exp Tome, and hope that the map is indeed good, and that an Exp Boosting item isn’t bug-free in a game’s pre-release state? I would have at least done my normal routine to make sure the Tomes were working in the first place, as there could easily have been a coding error or something that made the Tomes give +0% placebo experience.
So if I was grinding at 1mil/h normally, and after popping my 1st Tome I get 1.05m/h (Because of Map Bonus), I would already be questioning something and stop my purchase of tomes.
Even better, is that we got plenty of free compensation Tomes. So we didn’t even have to spend 9 (or rather, 5 Free + 4 Real) TP to even get to experiment with Tomes. We could have just used the compensation Tomes and got clarification on how they work then.
Besides; the only Exp value we see in game is the Adventure Journal right?
Technically, if a monster says it gives us 1,000 experience in that Journal, we would assume the Tome would award us with an additional 300 (30%) experience.
This would be correct, and nothing at all is wrong with the Tome.
Just because there are other hidden modifiers in the formula, and you use datamining/lua addons to find out your actual experience gain doesn’t change the fact that a monster which was supposed to give 1,000 experience was increased to 1,300 experience (before other modifiers).
