Would Buy To Play be the solution?

Faced with these changes on Steam price and the constant problem with bots, it is not feasible to make Tree Of Savior Pay To Play / Buy To Pay charging the price of Pack # 1?

They could open at least one server with this business model .

I believe pack 2 in btp model would be ok.

I agree the game being P2P would be perfect.

I agree with pay to play and from the very beggining i hoped for it

Totally agreed. Pay to Play system is probably the way to go with this game to be enjoyable. Can’t even imagine how this is gonna be after it becomes free for everyone…

I think it’s the only way, really. Every conversation I have on the subject I come away from with more knowledge as to how, specifically, F2P can’t work in currency-based, open trade MMOs anymore.

Botting has destroyed the viability of this business model by becoming so intrusive, repellent and aggressive towards normal players that I am certain any company trying to release a game like this will lose more money by the destruction of their paying player base at the hands of botters than what they’d lose completely walling off their game from freebs.

At the end of the day, IMC is going to do what gives them the most money. And when the cost of doing business with freebs exceeds what they get from tolerating them, the wall comes up.

But aren’t people ignoring the plain fact that b2ps aren’t the solution to botting and gold sellers?

That every p2p MMOs are still infested with such problems because gold sellers simply use stolen credit cards, and the real solution to them lies entirely elsewhere?

I’m not against p2p, but I would strongly caution against using bots as a reason for advocating for p2p.

I would prefer a pay to play option as well. However when setting yourself at the subscription standard a certain quality is to be expected. That being said this game feels very very barebones, something you’d see in a transition for alpha to beta. Not something you’d expect from a full release, free to play or otherwise.

I guess B2P can be the solution for a lot of problems. But anyway will exist peoples with bot for levelling, selling and etc.

But if we stop and think about it, maybe IMC will earn lot of money with acess pass but lose tons of money with TP that I supose that will be more cheaper.

Maybe IMC believe in a community that are not buzzard and want to ruin our game. Maybe this thought make then work much more until finally get a solution.

Anyway I indeed want F2P and a world open for all peoples play together but if it doesn’t have a easy way to solve I prefer B2P.

We been over this too many times to not ask you to use the search function.

Oh, and no, it wouldn’t be.

I’d like to correct you there: IMC is going to do what THEY THINK gives them the most money. I doubt any developer/publisher actually knows for certain whether or not, the payment model they plan to use will be the right onw, until the actually implement it or release the game.

There have been a few examples in recently MMOs releases, wildstar one of them (TESO antther, but people might argue that this was just a planned marketing move while waiting to release on consoles), the game launches with what the devs think is going to be the right model, but then they have to change because they realise it’s not working.

Ultimately what matter from the “game”'s point of view, is to keep it profitable for as long as possible. Devs want to make as much profit as possible of course, but sometimes even the perfect choices might lead to a failure and to a game becoming unprofitable, and thus having to shut it down.

I think if they did btp would be better, let those who bought the game already and on 28/04 might give the game to purchase at a fixed price of 50 dollars , I believe that is a reasonable price for the crowd and avoid an absurd number of players and pranksters bots possibly the steam could launch promotions as it always does for the purchase of even cheaper.

I think a B2P system is better

Buy to Play or Pay to Play? U’re joking, right?

I’d rather continue playing World of Warcraft or Final Fantasy XIV. IMC popularity with ToS is really low atm (62% accept rate on Steam which is lower than some Indie / RPG Maker games) and it would ruin the game definitely.

ToS still needs more maturity, regain popularity with marketing / events worldwide and a lot of work still need to be done before thinking on making it B2P or P2P.

I laugh at why people think B2P would work for ToS, I really do. It won’t stop the bots and RMT will just be able to justify and secure even more customers.

B2P with cash shop especially is god awful… People complain about DLC yet they want to constantly spend on a cash shop for a game they actually bought…

Free to Play has its problems but so do sub services and if you think buying stops bots it doesn’t, look at Final Fantasy and WoW they both have RMTs. They just get dealt with the ‘old fashioned’ way IMC doesn’t want to bother with.

B2P is the better option for me.

This is my suggestions:
A) Pay-To-Play model:
Like a FF14 with mensal payment, but for this the game need several changes like:
1.Remove Trade and Market restrictions, make team storage free for transfer items and silver and not decrease potential items.
2. Remove TP shop, give us gifts for fidelity example: Play for 6 months give premium costume, make events that will give us a costumes and premium items live Skill & Stats Resets, Scroll Enchants, etc.

B) Buy-To-Play model:
Pay once for access:

  1. Remove Trade restrictions and Market Taxes, make team storage free for transfer items and silver and not decrease potential items.
  2. Just remove tokens and give us more cosmetics options, like a mounts is ridiculous only few classes able to ride, more pets, etc.
PS: Don’t put pay-to-win options in TP shop NEVER.

Yes, B2P or P2P is aways better. F2P attracts too much bad players.

no not really, p2p doesnt fix botters anyway. plus we already payed and so did the botters.so the botters will stilll be staying. how would p2p fix anything? the game is already p2p and theres hackers, exploitters and bots
