Worst Case Costume Scenario

#Worst Case Costume Scenario

as a costume collector

Since most of you suggest only cosmetic as the only cash shop this is how ill assume IMC will make out most of the money

Costume in cash shop are not permanent, thats the only way IMC can keep earning money with user keep buying.

Permanent Costume are via gacha along with other cosmetic items (hair and accesories), RNG will decide what you get. And most of it are going to be the same accessories, the ugliest accesories.

these Costumes, hair and accesories will not be tradable. You can exchange them for some coupons if you have duplicate.

DISCLAIMER: This is a pessimistā€™s imagination only

Luckily I just want Paladin costume thenā€¦

Make Paladin> Get costume. 100% chance drop.

werent you planning to take Sadhu

Yeah, you make a lot of assumptions about what might or might not work for IMC. There are ways around the limitations you propose without succumbing to things like a gachapon, lottery, or rental outfits. Just a couple of ways:

  • Outfits are permanent and can be resold to other players for in-game currency. (This comes with the downside of effectively letting players buy in-game currency with real money, but there are few things, if any, that donā€™t come with downsides in a F2P payment model. It does give players reasons to keep buying outfits, however.)
  • Outfits are permanent and can be bound to already obtainable outfits, overwriting their looks. (This makes it so outfits are effectively character bound. More reason to rebuy them for alt characters, or buy new outfits to overwrite your currently bound one.)

A cosmetics-based payment model works for games like Path of Exile or Dota 2. Itā€™s been done before and it works.

Iā€™m reconsidering it. If they improve Paladin a bit so itā€™s not so boring, Iā€™ll probably go Pallyā€¦ But if I canā€™t figure out some way to make it interesting by rank 4 then Iā€™ll go Sadhu instead.

Pally is same rank circle as Sadhu

@Aries

If you want more cosmetic content you can buy from the cash shop take a look at this!

Steamworkshop support or any equivalent system from IMCgames could really help keep new items rolling out in the cash shop.

Iā€™m not sure how they would enforce the renewability part of you owning the costume xD (in your inventory?)

Speaking of which, itā€™d actually be a good economy sink if ToS also makes certain costumes buyable with lots of Silver. Of course, it needs to be renewed in order for it to be a really effective sink to prevent inflation in the game.

Well, this is a depressing threadā€¦

Here, have some alternatives,

Thereā€™s also other potentially fun combo-able stuff like

  • Outfits can be pumped out easily at such a quick pace that thereā€™s always something worth buying each season. (Maplestory practically breathed costumes and ToS costume models are quite simpleā€¦)
  • Outfits can be introduced once every month, limited edition, as a set. (even with accessories/etc)
They can then be purchased in one of two ways, through an iCoin-only ā€˜Random Ticketā€™ which picks a random item out of the setā€¦ or with a more expensive iCoin-only ā€˜Golden Ticketā€™ which allows you to pick the item you want. More ticket variants can exist.
(This is similar to PSO2, although thereā€™s no necessity for ALL outfits to be part of this)
  • Outfits can be seasonally limited and random. This would be a heavy temptation for many spenders.
(GW2 proved that this worked, though itā€™s a B2P game)
  • iCoin-only Outfits that donā€™t sell well can combine with certain in-game items/equipment (by pairing/crafting) to create new special effects/outfits, thus increasing the value of purchasing an unpopular outfit.
(basically a way to improve cosmetic sales without lowering its value to players)
  • Stuff. xT

Being able to buy currency by selling cash shop items per your quote, isnā€™t really a downside like they saidā€¦ IF implemented well, there are heaps of knock-on benifits. Casual player catch up, gold seller bankrupt, Cashshop items available to non-cash players, IMC making moneyā€¦ There are multi wins in that area. IF implemented well. The ā€œdownsideā€ as your quote suggests, seems to be in the form of disliking the idea of people being able to get silver any way other than grinding or playing the AH. But not everyone has the time to do that, and itā€™s going to be those ppl who donā€™t have the time, that will end up carrying this game for those (ā€œelite peopleā€) who have no job and can just sit on it all day for free.

Just a general FYI to ppl. Gotta be realistic.

@Aries
Well, Iā€™m gonna be short with this.

  • The quote is meant to reference the alternatives to OP, not that the quoted stuff is depressing.

p.s. I will delete this post in if this thread is replied to anymore, since it is, after all, off topic.

I wish they will have that outfit system where it can be unlocked depending on class rank or class level.

If you played eden eternal, class outfits are unlocked depending on what level that current class is.
For example lets say you go cleric, then decided cleric 2 it unlocks another outfit.

And in addition those outfits are dye-able.

I prefer PSO2 costume, you can wear and trade any of them regardless of class.

the only problem it gacha RNG and you will most likely not get the costume you want

This game does not need a terrible gambling system that is in some free to play mmos. Make costumes permanent and tradeable.

Im not spending money on a CHANCE to win something I want. It is stupid. So please stop making these threads and pushing that gacha crap onto everyone. Just freaking drop it already good lord.
