Windows 8.1 Graphics brightness and sound noise [FIXED]

Weird issue with the launcher, already updated graphics driver but nothing:

  • When the launcher is at title screen (server selection), the brightness of other applications gets veery bright, while the game remains normal (at least i think its normal), but if i alt tab to other applications, everything is veery bright.

  • I’m experiencing noise sounds on the music on title screen at some point.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Update drivers, i got that brightness thing on Diablo 3 generaly when its on installing process, some say to reset to default the graphics settings on the GPU control painel.

As for sound, i can only guess its driver issue, update it and see if it fix., btw post your system specs so we can try to provide more help.

System Specs:

Processor Intel® Core™ i7-4500U CPU @ 1.80GHz
Video Card 1 Intel® HD Graphics Family
Video Card 2 NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M
Memory 8.1 GB
Operating System Microsoft Windows 8.1 (build 9600), 64-bit

As i said earlier, i already did update the graphics driver, did not update sound driver, will try that and come back here.

Since your got an integrated GPU, go on your Nvidia Control Painel and On Manage 3D Settings theres an option to change the preffered GPU, change it to the Nvidia, avoid leaving that on Auto since some games simple cant find the off-board GPU and end up using the on-board.

did everything, updated everything, changed 3D settings from auto to Nvidia GPU, things are still brighty on background applications.

Sound issues seems to be fine now after i updated the graphics driver.

Is your PC plugged on a TV or Monitor with built-in Sound? Anyway, the brightness thing is weird, did you install the DX runtimes that come with the game? Its on the game folder (TreeOfSavior/Release/Patch/DirectX10).

will do that, and no, im using the laptop display/audio source.

did install the DX10 that comes with the game, however background applications still become brightier while the game is on.

Can you post a screenshot here?

i could, but you wouldnt be able to see because the screenshot wouldnt show the brightness as it is on my pc, since its a change on the display.

It should show the bright screen if its software related, i dont know if going on nvidia control painel and creating a profile with default settings for ToS only (Its on the manage 3d settings, theres a tab called app settings or program settings, after clicking in there you can select ToS (if its not on the list click in add and locate the game executable in the folder TreeOfSavior/Release/Client_tos.exe) and in every setting select the option with the nvidia icon on the side, click in apply and try to open the game again.

tried that, nothing =(

Inside the game it feels nice, but when i do alt tab, aaarrrgh. Any possibility that the game is trying to correct gamma values when it starts?

Lets try this as it may fullscreen problem, go on the game folder (TreeOfSavior/Release) and open the file user.xml with notepad (can be opened with notepad++ also), and find this line <Resolution mode=“1” and change it to 1 if its not, if it is, change it to 2 or 3 and see if it do the problem.

ok found the problem, on the same file you said, theres this option ‘DevGamma’, as i thought it was a gamma value setting, the default value was 10, when i set it to 0, the gamma just got normal, what does this option do? it tries to correct the gamma?

The option i said is the screen mode, window, window borderless and fullscreen, but since you found the problem, its fine dont change anything else, weird the gama setting be that high. More funny is that on mine is set to 10 also but its working fine.

i guess my system gamma might be low setting and this option tries to fix it during run times.

PS: I tried to put window mode too, at this “Resolution Mode” option, but it didnt fix, anyway. When the game goes live, i will try it with this gamma on 10 to see how the game feels.

Thanks for the help man! if anyone else finds this problem as well, the fix is on my last comment
