Why not to stop playing Tree of Savior?

hi i want to share some experience about ridiculous game mechanics that destroy fun and also explaining why on steam its so bad rated…

i came back to play after many months because i was very happy they send me welcoming back gifts like boost pack that contains reset skills and reset rank items… ( FINALLY RANK RESET i though )

then after got betrayed / scammed all silver i had by some buff seller that sold me 2 simple buffs for 1m each i thought maybe i report since other in town said i should and they did too… so i did report and got since few days no answer except that they will send it to appropriate department for that…

i thought whatever and will not give up. so continued to play and did new char and wanted do the appraiser char. followed this guide

only to realize how ridiculous time wasting it is becouse i camped the npc to spawn in kleipeda for around 1 hour… and then the got shock when i came to part where i need to camp the Weynd Flower…

i did this quest till the flower like ~6 hours…
looks like there flower never spawned… and i changed many times channels.

dear developers and GMS you think this is fun camping same spot for half day hours and watching this same screen , wasting electricity and time of 1 real life without progress?!?!
its like same gambling system…

and after research on INTERNET ABOUT “QUEST IN GAME SUPPOSED BE FUN” i discovered this link which shows many TOS players feel about this…

its really unbelievable it still not fixed since then…
about

GMS THIS IS RIDICULOUS AND DESTROYING WHOLE GAME FUN.

really because all that nonsense to suddenly stuck in questing torture and wasting time how you think people will want continue to play… LOOK AT THE STEAM REVIEWS!!!
maybe thats why because i very rare met someone doing quests…

guy what you think will wake up the GMS to change and realize TO LISTEN to FORUMS MAYBE…

just read all the complains on forums…
dont even want to start on bugged skills… its like some dirty joke how they make very rare event to let players get rank reset potion… like it would be something special while they let people play skill bugged chars…still…

how can be someone so mad to destroy such amazing potential

SO EVERYONE WHO READ THIS PLEASE WRITE TICKETS TO THEM TO WAKE THEM UP TO MAKE FUN OR SOON TOS POPULATION WILL BE 0

IMC wants you to buy unlock voucher :prince:

You MUST stay in 1 channel only. If the channel has noone there, the flower spawn time reset again
This is hidden class so if the pre-quests are ez and everyone can do it without any effort then it’s not hidden anymore

IMC won’t listen to your feedback, they can barely speak English enough to read it.
Just leave it a bad review on steam and move on to better games.

I understand your complaints. I also struggled through completed the Appraiser class hidden quest, but I was super lucky and ended up doing it with a team of people. I would recommend shouting for a group to help the experience pass by quicker (you can talk and vent together) – I honestly recommend this for all hidden quests. But they are hard for a reason.

About the expensive buffs, if you report the seller we can check their account for suspicious behavior, but it’s also very important for you to double check the price before paying :sob:

No one is talking about being able to do these quests with no effort at all. It’s just bad design to have items only spawn after 2+ hours and only 1 per channel/map. Especially when someone can not contribute or party with you and just come by and take it after you’ve been waiting and watering etc. Also, these hidden quests don’t test your skills or gameplay knowledge at all, almost purely waiting games.

2hours ? Old yellow eye flower says hi

there’s a reason why hidden quests stayed hidden and should never see the light of day XD

now, being an appraiser means you earn money even when logged off right? i think that’s a fair trade

2hours isnt bad though, i once repeatedly hunted a specific field boss that spawns every 2 hours for a whole day.

I wasn’t trying to bring up the other hidden quests since this post was about the appraiser and I said 2 hours going off of what the OP and the thread they linked said about the time. But since you brought it up, shinobi was more frustrating and while we’re at it, the miko quest was a nightmare.

You can earn money logged off with Squire, Pardoner, Alchemist, and Enchanter without having to go through the exaggerated test of patience that is hidden class quests so no, it’s not a fair trade if that’s your argument.

yeh but, since everyone can easily do these shops and the fact that a lot of people does appraisals due to the unidentified gears drop like crazy compared to the frequency, quantity, and competition to those other shops mentioned. i think it’s a fair trade

enchanter-24hrs before enchantment runs out

squire-you repair on an average of 1 every 3 runs of gear gathering (mine averages to 65 gears before i need repairs)

pardoner - 4 buff lasts 40min on average, low priced

alchemist - not much people use this service on a normal basis

In my reply to you, I’m not saying hidden classes aren’t worth having these types of quests. I’m saying your argument about this hidden class having a shop doesn’t hold when regular classes also have shops. What about the other hidden classes without shops? Was that goddess forsakened miko quest a fair trade for a class with no shop?

that clap skill is really game changing if you ask me. worth the saved installment costs among other miko buff skills

though i am merely responding on OP’s PoV in regards to how he quantify the effort with his costs

@STAFF_Letitia

you mean with shouting for a group = buy megaphone item with real money to be able to shout ???

and how about you look through my report on the buff seller i already did?
what you mean about we can check their acc for suspicious behavior? what does it mean? you can check whole day something without doing something.

in my 131 hours of playing TOS i never saw anyone selling above 1000 silver 1 buff. so suddenly is my fault not check the price… : /

day later i still saw the same seller in town selling each buff for 1m silver.

looks like you ALLOW such scams to make.
so dont even try to make nice your TOS management crimes looks harmless !!

about the quest again. i not really mean about how hard it is to collect the items for that quest i complain about the existence of this ridiculous / time+fun destroying quest parts

i would understand to farm like 5x times the ingredients for the crafting special reagent ingredients part. it would be hard slow progress. but this is like gambling now with luck.

games should be fun and not like sad work that you need wake up when server resets to rush for it…

really sad people here trying to make such game system look it harmless. will see how you think about such things when you get older…

THATS IT i going stop play TOS.

EVERYONE LETS WRITE TICKETS TO THEM OR STOP PLAYING SO THEYLL WAKE UP

Buy megaphones with the free TP you receive periodically. You get 5 free TP per day = 5 Megaphones.

But it is. The buff price is on the shop window. If you’re such in a hurry that you can’t even read what’s on the screen before buying things, then install the “Shop Helper” addon (it shows a warning message when you try to buy expensive buffs or repairs) or don’t go around with so many silver in the inventory.

And like Letitia said, doing it in a party helps a lot. Hidden quests are not supposed to be easy. And if you’re already whining about that, then ToS is not the game for you, since hidden class unlock quests are one of the easy parts in the game.

Also, just a note about hidden quests.

Try to do some search before actually jumping into them. There are tricks or recommendation for most of them.

Appraiser:
Klaipead NPC: Check all channels continuously or each 10-30 minutes. It’s a sure-shot.
Watering flower: Spawn after 4h ish in a channel, you can afk and come back later and shout after finding the flower. Team is recommended here.
The other flower: Seems it spawns each 2 hours swapping between each channel and stays for 5 minutes? in the map. This gets a little tiring, Team is recommended here, share by picking the flower at the same time.

You should also check the channel count. If a channel is already at 1/100 after you get into a channel, you might need to count less time for the 4 hours.

Miko:
Mostly about spirits: Pay attention to the game and don’t spam space because the cooldowns. Share by picking the spirit at the same time. Some can’t be shared I think ( ? )

Shinobi:
Flower: Despawns in about 5 minutes I think? can be shared normally. Team recommended if you can but not neeed.
Materials: Either with SR or Thaum. Wax: Evacuation Residential District due to higher spawn rate. Colifly Stamen in Roxona maps, I recommend buying this one if you can. The rest is easy. With a chrono-thaum character one can farm all Slick Sap within 45 minutes-ish, for example.

Runecaster:
Chronomancer master: Install “Show Hide Buff” addon.
Royal Mausoleum rune: Runes spawns at either X:00 or X:30. Get quest warps through all the floors if you’ve already done the main quests, if not it’s not needed. Just check all spots each :00 and :30.

Another good thing is to check the DB when you need to find drop rates etc. Example:
https://tos.neet.tv/items/645187

I know that some people might complain “but do I need to check outside sources to do the quests then?” - nope, you don’t.

A lot of people did them before and figured the hidden mechanics and better ways to do the quests, so it’s worth reading a bit before trying these quests for the first time. You’ll have a far better time doing them with help, even if in form of tips from who did them before.

I wouldn’t really call “waiting for hours in hopes that something spawns so you can click it for a few seconds” “hard” or “challenging”… heck, not even “interesting”. It’s just tedious busywork… or in this case : tedious waste of time, since you’re doing nothing else but stare at the screen. There is nothing challenging about it, nothing hard, nothing interesting. Making a player sit in one place for hours, having him stare at the screen while unable to move anywhere else to do anything interesting/fun is horrible game design.

Imagine playing chess, but before you are able to kill the King you have to wait and stare at the board for 10 hours, roll a die. If you roll a 6 you are allowed to kill the King, otherwise : another 10 hour waiting time and then another die roll for you. I bet you’d never touch that game again.

If, on the other hand, the items/questthingies were not to spawn every X hours on the same spot, but instead had instanced (one for every player who does the quest, but others can’t take nor see yours) spawn and spawns randomly anywhere on all maps directly connected to map “insert map name”, then it’s at least some sense of exploration and “challenge”, because you know it’s somewhere around that map, you just have to find out where it is.
Or, if you want Mikos to pray repeatedly for hours (which is the only hidden-class boring busywork i could think is somewhat understandable due to the character of a Miko, although i would’ve made it a pilgrimage around the world instead where you have to pray on several important spots in the world of praying at the same spot for hours), make it instanced or so several Mikos can pray together, not limiting the reward to one at a time.

Letitia, for the current hidden quests it’s “too late”, but could you please transmit to the devs to stop this kind of time wasting quests for the next hidden quests ?
People don’t mind if it’s difficult, the problem is that those quests are simply boring, not actually difficult. You have to camp some spots for hours and you can’t do anything else. People who play the game want to actually play it, not simply wait for some item. Instead it would be more fun to add puzzles, mobs to kill, things to gather, or whatever. But please, no more camping for hours for one item…

they made it time consuming to subtly lock the content from players with no time (the ones that work and have $$$) to force them into buying advancement vouchers

yet another predatory business tactic
rng cubes are enough…

But the vouchers didn’t even exist at the very beginning. The vouchers are really new, while Shinobi and Rune Caster for example have existed almost since the beginning.
I feel like the Vouchers were just an easy and profitable way for them to appease the players. Also some players did ask for it (“make it easier or let us pay to unlock them !”).
What I proposed don’t mean they will be doable fast, it can still take some time. But this way at least it won’t be boring as hell.
