Which build would be better for PvP + PvE?

I’m currently A1QS3 and I’m between two builds. One is a cannoneer one and the other is mergen.

Cannoneer: http://www.tosbase.com/tools/skill-simulator/build/9nzl3yajsn/

Mergen: http://www.tosbase.com/tools/skill-simulator/build/coh1yxsok1/ (I could change Rogue1 and take Falconer1 instead).

I think I prefer the mergen one (Running shot + Kneeling + Range
attribute from mergen could be a beast) but I just can’t ignore the
"%Atk" scaling (I think it’s important in the long run, isn’t it?) and
the utility it brings (siege burst and smoke grenade) and the fact
mergen has long CD so I won’t have sustained dps but single target.

What would you recommend me? Or what advantages/disadvantages does each build have?

Side questions:

  • Are %Atk important in the long run? Because I’m almost obsessed
with this kind of skills just to avoid being IMC’d in the future because
    of bad scaling.
  • I saw lots of people take fletcher for sustained damage (for mergen). Are there more options?
  • Do I really have to take a sustained damage class to go throught the mergen route?
  • Why is cannoneer2 considered a bad class? I read some threads about that and I really don’t know why.

Thank you in advance!

If you’re concerning about AOE, have you ever consider SR3 instead?

It has good synergy with Q3 because SR is an excellent AOE class too.
Not to mention running-shot+ mount is super fast, and boss can hardly hit you too :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s quite a popular build in Ktos.

Go Scout1 Cannon2 for PVE + PVP.

Falcon1 Mergen is really more of a PVE build even if you get Scout1. It would be a stronger build for PVE if you replace Scout1 with Archer2 (crit + evasion, lv.10 multishot) or Rogue1 (Sneak hit + werewolf, Capture Arrow Sprinkle).

Scout1 Rogue1 Mergen is a build that’s too spread out IMO, like you’re not really sure what you want to do.

I think I will roll a cannoneer.

One more question, is it worth leveling bazooka?

If not why should I be QS if I’m not going to use running shot+bazooka? Isn’t better to choose something like sapper, hunter o ranger?

Sorry, can’t comment on that C2 skill as I’ve only had experience with a C1 Cannoneer.

This might help though: https://www.reddit.com/r/treeofsavior/comments/4zp791/ktos_cannoneer_c2_buffed_bazooka_stance_running/

TLDR Running Shot will boost Bazooka damage but not attack speed.

Auto-attacking with Running Shot is mostly used as a filler when all your other skills are on cooldown. You don’t have be QS though if you’re not into that kind of gameplay.

Which classes do you exactly want to play? We might be able to suggest proper builds.

I like QS gameplay but in the end I will use it mostly to buff bazooka damage and some utility. If bazooka isn’t worth then I will only use QS for utility and I was wondering if there are another class that can bring more utlity :stuck_out_tongue:

And I want to play cannoneer or mergen. I don’t care previous classes but it should complement cannoneer/mergen for PvP+PvE.

I don’t know of any PVP Mergen builds but I guess earlier ranks makes it somewhat viable (e.g. Broadhead from Fletcher3, Scout1 Rogue3, Hunter2/3, Wugu3, etc.).

For Cannoneer C2, I’ve seen the following builds work well if you take into account PVP + PVE:

  • A2 QS3 Scout1 Cannon2 <— alternative to the classic PVP Musket build
  • A2 X Scout3 Cannon2 <— nice dungeon farming build

In my own theory, the following build could work as well:

  • A2 QS3 Falcon1 Cannon2 <— running shot + hanging shot
  • A1 R1 Hunter2 Scout1 Rogue1 Cannon2 <— more of a PVP build but still decent mobbing with Feint+Barrage and Cannon skills; can use pet tank/lure
  • A2 Hunter2 Scout1 X Cannon2 <— non-rogue variant of the above
  • A1 QS3 Scout1 Rogue1 Cannon2 <— requires werewolf card stacks
  • A1 Ranger3 Scout1 Rogue1 Cannon2
  • A2 Ranger3 Scout1 Cannon2

In most cases, you’ll want at least Scout C1 to PVP with a Cannoneer.

My concern with Rogue builds is that Werewolf cards requires quite a fortune though with a complete stack your crit chance is very high even against highly crit-resistant targets. If you go high STR, you’ll sacrifice evasion.

Going A2 (Archer C2) means that you’ll have better evasion and crit rate if you go with a high DEX build, but both won’t always be guaranteed to proc especially at higher levels.

The thing with going rogue and high str is that you’re locked into getting plate, because, if you wanted high crits and high evasion, it’d be much easier to go for a high dex build with A2. Not to mention cheaper. Going high dex also lets you have the gimmicky cloth set with nuaele cards that may or may not be great for facing magic

Which one would you recommend for pvp+pve?

A2 QS3 Scout1 cannon2

A2 Hunter3 Scout1 cannon2

A2 Hunter2 Scout1 falc1 cannon2

Anyway, what a hunter (2 or 3) can bring to pvp and pve?

Safest pick and easiest to get used to. PVE, just drop Pavise in front of mobs to take aggro and cannon them away.

PVP, mostly Cloak + Cannon Blast (works a bit like Barrage [spread attack] where you have to get near the target to deal the most damage) and/or Cannon Shot. QS skills are mostly for utility/defense. Running Shot is your kiting friend.

More PVP-oriented than the 3rd/last one you listed. Stronger Hunter skills. Growling (C3) is great in PVE though I heard recently it’s been buggy (not sure though).

I’m tagging @Composition here in case I’m wrong on the Hunter stuff and if he can give further advice on Hunter synergy with other classes.

Not much interaction between Hunter and Falcon except that you can go around and aggro a group of mobs, go invi, let your pet take aggro of mobs, cast Circling, and then Multishot + Cannon Skills.

Still great in PVP as well, and Falcon brings Hovering and Pheasant to the table - both can knock Clerics or anyone out of the Safety Zone.

Growling has been working as intended for a long time now, those reports about buggy growling were back from may I believe.

There’s no synergy between falconer 1 and hunter 3, there’s synergy
between hunter 3 and falconer 3 though.[quote=“ZeroFoxGiven, post:10, topic:337184”]
Hovering and Pheasant to the table - both can knock Clerics or anyone out of the Safety Zone.

I believe in KToS pheasant was changed from a knockback to a stun (and only with attribute)

Hunter at PvP is bad, real bad. but it has its uses, such as : killing clerics. You’ll be using other skills from the archer tree to kill, unless, you meet a sage, in which case only hunter’s skills will do damage thanks to missile hole.

Oh :frowning: . Always loved having that utility. Even made a Falconer3 knowing I can always rely on that mechanic.

Does Sonic Strike knock down? Except for Hunter, do any other archer class has a counter against Safety Zone?

At least Cannon C2 has “Siege Burst: Circle destruction”.

Falconer still has hovering, Pheasant was changed from the knockback to the stun to give a real utility in PvE I guess, since it has a real wide AoE mass stunning would be something, so Hovering still knockbacks as far as I know.

Sonic strike doesn’t knockback, it has 30% of blinding something though.

Only problem with hovering is its RNG nature, since it attacks whatever.

They really should’ve just made it attribute at least, like when attribute is on, it becomes an AOE stun, else if off it’s knockdown by default. :frowning:

Hmm I answer one of your side question Then

%Atk is pretty good at long run but you have to know about real value.
Archer already have %Atk since R1 but show up as Multihit or Fake Multihit

EX
Multishot = 16hit = 1600%
Barrage = 5hit = 500%
Feint Barrage = 10hit = 1000% (3oh with fastest speed = 3000%)
Magic arrow = 25hit = 2500%
Covering fire = 11hit with 150% = 1650%
Snipe = 1 hit = 400%
Cannon Blast = 1 hit = 300%

Some multi hit skill = fake multi hit = %Atk skill
EX
Twins arrow = fake multi hit = 150%

now let try check dmg output (500atk vs 2000atk)

Multishot lvl15 16hit 457 base
500atk : 457+500 * 16 = 15312 | 2000atk : 457+2000*16 = 39312

Feint Barrage lvl 5 = 10hit 250 base
500atk : 250+500* 10 = 7500 | 2000atk : 250+2000*10 = 22500

Magic arrow lvl 10 = 25hit = 1139base
500atk : 1139+50025 = 40975 | 2000atk : 1139+200025 = 78475

Covering fire lvl 10 = 11hit 1404base 150%
500atk : 1404+500x1.5x11 = 31416 | 2000atk : 1404+20001.511 = 56166

Snipe lvl 10 9503base 400%
500atk : 9503+5004 = 40012 | 2000atk : 9503+20004 = 46012

Cannon Blast lvl 10 7065base 300%
500atk : 7065+5003 = 22695 | 2000atk : 7065+20003 = 27195

Twin Arrows lvl 5 320base 150%
500atk : 320+5001.5 = 1230 | 2000atk : 320+20001.5 = 3480

Twin Arrows lvl 1 151base 150%
500atk : 151+5001.5 = 977 | 2000atk : 151+20001.5 = 3226

IMC will bump agaisnt every wall trying to fix a class to eventually make it worse. That’s the message they’re sending right now.

Actually this is the masochist route, I have a QS3 Cannoneer and put on hold on due to how QS3 skills doesn’t have much sync with Cannoneer.
Basically it would go like running around a group of mobs while goin cannon shot > cannon blast > AA > x(caltrops to slow down/ pavise+teardown for knockback) > Cannon shot > AA > stoneshot (if RS is out)> repeat until the group of mobs are dead.
Which if a group of beefy 240+ mobs are chasing you, it would take a minute or two assuming you don’t die to the mage-type enemies that are in the area.

and Pavise does close to nothing after you either blast the group with a cannon or have aggroed the mobs in the first place.

That’d be where Cloaking comes in.

I agree with you though that rotation kinda takes long to finish a group. QS3 is mostly for PVP, but there are indeed other options.

Thank you! Now I can understand how it works.

My doubt now is why should I be cannoner instead of just using lvl15 multishot or rolling other class? Because cannoner has very little multihits or fake multihits.

@Aerev then which class would be a better option for pvp and pve?

Cannoneer has no fake multihits, the only multi hit is cannon barrage and it has sihtty base damage, long cd and doesn’t have a % modifier.
Don’t go cannon2 if you want to be good, go cannon2 if you want to have fun with explosions.

Cannoneer is not the best at anything.
