Looking at doing a Corsair built around Double Weapon Assault. I have 2 questions to pose:
Does Double Weapon Assault effect skills?
Would a barbarian using Frenzy (maxed) or a c3 swordsman maxing both Gung Ho and Concentrate (and using Peltasta or something as a side for Swash Buckling (aoe taunt) be better?
Maybe you’ll want swordsman 2~3 for restrain
I don’t know if double weapon assault would work with Spears, but if it does, maybe hoplite would be a good choice, together with a trident-like weapon, plus the finestra buff
Yeah that would be cool. I’m not 100% sure though b/c the DWA doesn’t give you weapon specifications aside from “Basic and Sword Attacks” Which is a bit unclear to me, based on how they’ve described some other skills. Does that mean you’d better build your class around swords like barbarian/swordsman/highlander?
I’m not saying it’s the best option, neither that you should go for it, but for a DWA build i’d build swordsman 2 hoplite 2 Corsair 3
Restrain - 20â„… stun chance
Trident-like weapon - 2 extra hits
Finestra - extra crit chance
I’m not sure how those things would work together, but assuming DWA would work with Spears, the best case scenario would be;
3 hits from main weapon, and the trident-like buff being literally a buff, wich would make it work with the daggers too, so 3 hits from the dagger, plus the stun chance from restrain proc’ing 6 times, for every attack
And the worst case scenario, assuming that DWA would work with Spears
3 attacks from the trident-like, plus one from the dagger, finestra crit and the stun chance proc’ing only once
Still a good scenario, but it’s all assuming that DWA would work
It does work with spears, in fact thats the corsair build people use for based on basics, the other would be the usual highlander barbarian into corsair thing for dps or anything really , corsairs dont really have that much synergy aside from dwa with finestra.

I mean, would sub-weapon attacks get extra hits too?

I think DWA only works on normal attacks. Spear + dagger, and Crits works too. To make DWA work, I think you need to press+hold Z (normal attack) + spamming C (special key) or something like that to make DWA work. I really don’t remember exactly since I only played my corsair c2 for a bit. My build was sword>pelta>hop c2> cor c2.
DWA only works for auto. you hold C while spamming attack button. You will consume 2 stamina per attack.
If the trident buff works on sub-weapon attacks, then with sacrament and fire enchant you would get
3 attacks - trident
3 attacks - dagger
1 attack - sacrament (main weapon)
1 attack - sacrament (sub weapon)
1 attack - fire enchant (main weapon)
1 attack - fire enchant (sub weapon)
Total: 10 hits per basic attack :o
idk about trident working for DWA i cant confirm it. but i know spears do work its labeled right on the skill. i was corsair x2 as well. it was fun. i never thought about spears when i was one i used a sword and dagger. slash+pierce felt right. if your going for the maximum on DWA grab as many on hits as u can get. that’s my advice. i wouldnt mix any tanky class in with it tho. it would just seem weird but who knows maybe you’ll stumble onto the new shiznit.
tridents are two-handed. and the triple hit is visual only, does not actually make you do more damage or anything.
I’m not sure about the “no extra DMG” part, but you said something that just makes the build impossible xD

So the whole build falls apart haha

For 40â„… stun chance and extra mobility
as many on hits as u can get that you like without going over the limit on buffs you can put on yourself. i forgot to mention this. you can only be so good due to that limit unless you have a krivis w you all the time casting their here you can have more buffs skill.
Lots of great input! So far I’ve only had a chance to level into swordy c2 but its easily the highest damage output i’ve played so far.
Now that we have rank 7 it’s possible to use Deeds of Valor i wonder how fast we can attack now.
The thing about atk speed buffs is that your main attack is limited by your ping. So I wouldnt recommend an basic attack build unless you have like 60 less pings to make use of those buffs.
Dont do that. Swordie c2 and c3 are BAAAAAAAD
and restrain’s proc rate is trash…
Its cut by what feels like 75% in pvp, becuase that ■■■■never procs and if it does you wouldn’t notice it.
Your better off picking a class with guaranteed stuns, like barb or rodelero
Best Corsair builds are certainly
Swordie -> Paltasta -> Barb3 -> Corsair 2 (c3 if you want pistols)
OR
Swordie -> Paltasta -> Hop2 -> (Rodelero for PvP, or something else with a useful c1) -> Corsair 2
or Sword - Highlander 2 ( if not nerfed) - peltasta - corsair 2.
It seems like the highlander 2 outdpsed the barbarian.

Highlander was indeed nerfed, well carter stroke was…
Also highlander skills scale like crap compared to Barb.
Barb has better CC (and better mobing by extension)
2 stuns, and better scaling into the late game.
And 2 buffs that give ALOT of dmg.
Barb wins vs highlander on everything but bossing.
But if you pair either with Corsair that’s not the case at all.
