What's the point of going Monk really?

What’s not great about being a monk?

Since you all know the range sucks it’s simple, walk the extra millisecond it takes to get into range and hit them.

Yeh dude I must be a retard for not having tot of that b4.

You made a valid point I agree.

First off, this forum sucks, I have no idea how to quote multiple people…

Anyways, I apologize for being misinformed about Sacrament. It does increase attack, as I’ve tested, but unlike regular property damage increase stats it adds a secondary attack on normal attacks as well. Thank you for pointing that out along with dualshielder756.

But when I think about it, despite me using Sacrament regularly during my early Monk days (especially since I was out of stamina all the time and I’m forced to do normal attacks), Sacrament did not give me as much of a damage boost that I would notice for Double Punch, nor for the rest of my skills.

I believe it would be more effective on normal attack based classes due to the extra attack like one of those archer classes or Chaplain, outside of that its damage boost is just too low to even consider, even at a point where you’re dealing 1k~2k damage ticks only.

It still bears the same problem as Blessing does - it provides a raw value that falls off in the late game.

You might consider getting DEX as well to deal with high evasion targets. I would probably settle with a decent amount of CON (perhaps 100~150?) at late game, while early on you can just focus on 1:1 STR and DEX. You also might want to consider focusing on pumping Dex early on to make leveling easier, as criticals provide a very decent damage boost.

I should have gone cleric c2 priest c2 instead of going cleric c1 priest c3, so i can support more in dungeon.

Yes, that is certainly more ideal. 10 heal tiles and 40 block Safety Zone is just too good to pass up just for higher blessing/sacrament levels or Stone Skin. Stone Skin is nice but being able to provide more healing is better.

I’ve been thinking of going cleric-XXX-deiv-pally-monk-Oracle2 and building str-spr-dex.
What fits best in those Xs? Krivis, with 0 Zaibas and decent SPR? Can crit resistance go negative on monsters?

Investing on multiple classes is often not recomended. If you go for Krivis in your build you’d be picking 6 classes and that’s too much, you’ll do many things but none of them well.

If you want to play a support role, Cleric c2 is pretty much a necesity for extra heal tiles in party play, so that could be your Rank 2 pick.

Any particular reason for you to want to go Oracle c2? It doesn’t have much sinergy with Monk.

More synergy with monk than anything else. Heavy stamina buff for double hit and the melee range counterspell aura, which I assume works on allied magic circles? So oracle would want to avoid being classes that use them, like Bokor and krivis. and cleric and diev and druid and…

I really do need more info on counterspell. If it kills allied and my own stuff I dunno how you’d build for it.

Anyway, point of krivis is to weigh spr more heavily. Deprotect zone essentially means spr is 1 damage, and Zalciai would add crit rate and crit attack to that too, to a certain extent.

an attribute for increase maximum stamina or higher stamina regen would be great tbh

There is one, Clerics get it at level 1. Plate Mastery: Defense.

i run with 80 stamina monk c2 . my Energy blast level 5 hit for a crazy amount of damage k + (kinda like 2k x20 time per energy blast ) . I have 220 strenght , 110 dex and 50 con . If i hit monster weak to strike damage i litteraly one shot them , and i hit for like 4k per double punch ( my double punch is only level 15 ) .

I never die and i heal dungeons without any problem with c1p3 build setup .

My plate mastery is level 30 + more stamina and i use the level 40 earth plate set for another + 10 stam .

I love monk <3

How often do you crit and dodge with that amount of dex ?

I need some screenshots for that. We have almost the same set-up, I’m currently at 79 stamina, but with only level 22 plate mastery, also using suncus maul. I use Roxona Plate Boots with Riena armor instead of earth set to get +32 stamina, and have only done three out of the four stamina quests so far. I’m assuming you’re using high end accessories and Arde/Karacha Dagger?

Be sure to do it on regular, even-leveled mobs, not lower level mobs, and compare between enemies weak to strike and not weak to strike. A heads-up on your skill attribute levels would be great as well. Also how regularly do you crit with just 80 dex? I would like a screenshot for both criticals and non-critical attacks with Double Punch and Energy Blast ticks. Would really appreciate them.

And now I’d also like to question survivability. With a level 40 Earth set your defense must be extremely low. I would like an update at how you’re dealing against mobs in the Kaliss Province area, where the harder hitting mobs start appearing.

How do you keep managing to find even dumber things to say?

How often do you troll? Oh wait, lemme answer that. Very often apparently.

Now scoot along, it’s obvious you have nothing else left to prove or say. Of course I expect you to come up with another poor argument like “hur durr, monks are strong, others are weak” and stuff like that while hiding an insult behind it. Very predictable.

I will really commend you though and take back everything that I said if you can actually provide a good argument that I can’t easily disprove like your other posts though! So if you’re not giving up, why not go for it?

Excuse me @Levan

I’ve read like 70 post so far, no joke.

So basically, apart from waiting for that guy to prove his damage with screenshots or something, do you think finally monk is viable or not?

As many guys said, i know it could be seen as “equaled class”. It deals no BURST of damage but has sustain too. But anyway i don’t want it to be useless damager at the end -.-

I dont know what do to. I plan to do a new character but i’m trying to choose between monk or sorcerer/dragoon.

Thanks!

Well, it’s still up to you to decide really.

Do note that the balance in this game is really just bad, and most melee classes are screwed. All ranged classes will be meta at late and end game, and support classes will be expected to deal damage from afar in endgame content like Earth Tower, and give useful offensive buffs that cannot fall off late game like Priests have. Maybe a Monk that went Diev2 build would fit in this case, however, your Monk side that you have invested on till c2 or c3 will have no purpose and you will be easily replaced by other, more useful clerics that got either more supportive r5 and up classes, like Plague Doctors, Paladins or Krivis.

The damage the guy claims he has is pretty questionable really so I’m waiting for screenshots as proof. You can see from the following video here,

that he is outdamaging this high level, end game geared Monk should he really be doing 4k Double Punches per tick as he claims, unless I’m mistaken from what he said. But anyways, the only cause for his damage will either be his attribute level or his accessories, which he didn’t state.

Well, to be honest, I don’t really see a point of going Monk as of yet. And by “as of yet”, I mean that Monk might have a better future being one of the more underpowered classes, and might receive certain buffs in the future; even recently in krToS they buffed his damage values up. There will also be an upcoming Dalai Lama(?) class that would surely be a hidden class dedicated to the Monk tree, but with no idea of its kit yet, I’m not sure what role he/she’ll have to play. Hopefully it would fix the glaring weaknesses that the Monk has.

If you want to gamble, then make a Monk with an ideal build of Priest 2, Cleric 2, and Monk C3, and pray to god that Dalai Lama is a force to be reckoned with once he is released. Or play it safe in the meantime and make another character, and simply make a Monk once he gets buffed further either through balance changes or the existence of the Dalai lama. Either way, it’s still your choice. Just be sure to choose what you feel like you’re have fun with. If the Monk is just your alternate character, I suppose it wouldn’t be so bad making one since you will be investing more effort into your main character anyway.

Take my words with a grain of salt, because the experience I had with a Monk might just be different for you.
