What stacks with kneeling shot?

Are there skills you can use with kneeling shot?
what classes have good synergy with it?

Ranger’s steady aim and Quarrel Shooter’s running shot. If you’re trying to maximize kneeling shot, Running shot is your best bet.

edit: I also heard you can use rogue’s burrow.

Kneeling shot have a decent synergy with DOT Skills, like flare shot, since the damage is calculated with every thick
Sapper, Wugushi, etc …
(Stronger traps,bleeding,poison)

interesting… bleeding depends on str though… I was hoping to maximize dex

This build is based on traps in order to use kneeling without being afraid of atks, and poison for some AoE DoT to help killing many mobs at once, no STR required.
It’s trully, trully outrageous

how come claymore is not being taken? claymore deals a large amount of damage

Utility > Damage

I see thanks. That makes perfect sense

I…don’t get it. How would Sapper 1 traps help you in using kneeling shot? There’s no knock back and they really suck, even as utility.

This is alot of help… Thanks bro

Personally I’ll go with quarrel shooter and archer 3 to maximize kneeling shot

I think their idea is to cast them and start with kneeling shot.

but I personally want to use stuff that stack with kneeling and a few deterant like caltrops and shield

But…Sapper 1 only has Stack Stockades and Claymore. Both are quite useless since Stockades require the mob to run into, then out of, then back into the trap in order to get damaged more than once, and Claymore has soft taunt + needs you to be out of kneeling shot in order to activate.

Punji Stakes are so situational that you don’t really use it. I guess I see what they mean now by stacking with kneeling shot - Punji could be a last resort barrier, but it still seems a waste to go Sapper just for a skill that is so situational that I’ve never found a time to use it, even as Sapper 3.

If they had wanted to stack with kneeling shot, they should’ve gone C2 for the Broom Trap. All the kneeling shot combos I’ve seen involved ā€˜standing’ AoEs like the Broom Trap or Throw Gu Pot.

so what you are saying isa that sapper does not provide enough utility. Am I correct in saying that?

As a person who will never be able to PvP (from Australia), I really need to know your definition of ā€œutilityā€.

Do you mean the ability to re-position mobs? 90% no. 90% since anyone with skill in both the traps and the mobs’ behaviour can do that, but that’ll be something like the people in Demon Prison who’ve grinded from 150-170 without a full team most of the time.

Do you mean the ability to do stuff other than just damage mobs as the mobs rush towards you? Sure. It has utility, but those situations are rare since people usually want mobs to be rushing towards them.

I’m just stating what I think through PvE experience. PvP may be completely different.

in all simplicity, utility is something that provides OPTIONS.

Utility provides things aside from damage or direct buffs to stats. In games things like damage and effective hp are the most straight forward approach towards the game. you will need your life and damage all the time, but Utility is more of an indirect approach or a supportive approach.
The idea of traps is good example. A good way to describe utility for me is anything that gives me MORE than just simple offense or defense in terms of stats.

Skills that would allow you to use another skill better is utility.

Utility skills would include, but are not limited to, invulnerability, mobility and crowd control. Crowd control or disables are the pinnacle of utility in a sense of disabling the enemy from hurting you or you team.

utility could also be quality of life skills that helps you use your other skills.

Here are some examples

  • the cleric’s fade. it does not help you with anything directly but it removes agro from you and it supplements you in a sense that monsters can’t detect you.
  • Another example from the swordsman’s tree is pain barrier. it allows you to not be knocked around or disabled.
  • Lethargy from the mage tree is the sleep spell where you get to pummel an enemy for multiple hits and they can’t do anything.
  • Full Draw impales units and keeps them from participating in battle. This provides great counter-play.

damage over time like poison or bleed are described as utility because it gives you options to just let the enemy slowly decay.

Ah…Let me see…

Stockades is good for when you’re waiting for your skill’s cd and have no other choice but to run. Simply smack a few down and run around them to make the mobs go in and out of the trap (to get damaged). It does quite high damage, but it’s quite hard to get the mobs completely out of the trap before you reach the draw limit.

Claymore can act as a semi-taunt. When you put it down, mobs actively try to attack it. But it costs 300 silvers each, the trap can be knocked around, and you take a long time just to set it up (compared to Stockades and Broom Trap).

Conceal can help conceal traps and objects. See: The Earth Tower video for 1-5F where the Sapper concealed one of the orbs they had to protect. Quite useful if you’re going PvP for Punji Stakes, but not much use in PvE.

Punji Stakes can bounce mobs back and damage the mobs, but it has a charge time (think of the interact with item quests). Never really experimented with it since there’s the charge time, but might help with Kneeling Shot since it can be a last defense, in case some tanky mob just spawned from an Oracle’s buggy Change skill.

Detonate Trap can kill anything you and your allies put down. Anything. Safety Zone, Heals, Cure, Broom Trap, Stockades etc. Be very careful with this. Early on, if you have no Ranger, this’ll be one of the few AoEs that can affect flying mobs (although the range is so small the mob needs to be practically on top of the trap). This is for the as*hole Sapper and the desperate Sapper who has no other skill but Stockades and Detonate. It’s a cheap combo that needs nothing but sp. Haven’t seen it Detonate the boss traps though, might need more testing to confirm.

Broom Trap - AoE. That’s it. Putting the trap down does attract mobs, but then any attack you do should attract some nearby mobs. Usually used to dumping near the bosses that love to AoE 90% of the time and spend that time running for my life since the closer the trap is to the mob, the better the damage (rotation issues).

Collar Bomb - ideally, it would be the cheap backup AoE for flying mobs and when Broom Trap is on cd. Currently too unreliable to even get it to trigger. Utility…pretty light?

Spike Shooter - Currently, it seems to only shoot down and no other direction despite how the trap is set up. Again, might need more testing. Utility…Last defence for Kneeling Shot archer? It really sucks as it shoots arrows along the trap, so the longer the trap, the more spaced out the arrows are. Used on the right target with it crit-ing, for example a flying boss like Harpeia, it can deal up to 1/2 of the boss’s hp. Usually it just does around 3 cm’s worth of damage (boss hp bar length).

That’s about all I can think of. To summarize, Sapper = class that’s slap trap and run forever.
