I loved the open world PvP system this game had, based on the real job you picked, its too bad the game was so grindy that it was overrun with bots lol.
gunz 2

Gunz 1 too, for that matter.
League of Legends, top 10 in beta. Always among top players. Friends quit lost a lot of motivation. Did a bit of âcompetitiveâ dominion, lawlâwe didnât get paid. Helped out in small group testing for awhile. A few of my friends from that went on to doing game analyst for Riot. But I just enjoyed the little peaks I had. Jobs sounded a little too stressful. Finally left after a leak in our PTR group got us shut down and PTE got created in our place.
That said closed testing is what kept that game from being a complete cluster for years. And yes⌠we reported everything that ended up OP⌠Itâs just the nature of things⌠Iâve seen champions that are released balanced⌠ie, Nunu. But no one wants to learn the champion or get over the learning curve. And than one overly vocal trash poster would never shutup about it, masses rally behind him. Pitch forks come out. And then Nunu gets buffed to do something he really shouldnât be good at anyway and then next tournament⌠Nunu would get picked 100% of the time oh win % huge slanted in his favor. Sleeper problems. And a catch 22⌠Riot gets yelled at when they release things balanced. Riot gets yelled at when they release things buffed. So you can guess which way of releasing makes sense.
The people that were in charge of champ design all insanely smart people. People that had to do champion reworks and did them well⌠Even smarter. Balancing the game for low tier and high tier play while making sure that the champion feels fun is pretty damn difficult. And still have a lot of respect for those guys. Especially because itâs League where youâre not allowed to go off the handle and do crazy cool OP like in DotA so balance is so much more finicky. And you have to pay attention to the soft effects of champions as much as the more noticeable. I always used to describe it as the bed of nails⌠It works for DotA because everything is OP in dota⌠A lot more freedom⌠But a lot didnât work for LoL in the years when I was there.
And thatâs my off topic rant for the night.
Oh and one little secret⌠Most everyone at Riot hated how flash turned out and wanted to redo the summoner skill system. To this day I still think itâs the one big mistake. And yet we still see new MOBAs come out and copy the system. Shows you how too many people just copy things without even thinking about it. Without actually questioning if it adds or takes away from the freedom of the developer. Or makes learning harder for players because they donât die when they mess up they just use their escape then spend the next 20mins hiding on a tower slowly losing the game.
Ok /endrant for real.
Heroes of Newearth - Played it for a week⌠then Dota 2 came. so nope.
Warframe - Fun game. Kills Ridiculous amount of time. but never again sorry.
GunZ 2 - the community died also server issues.
Dragon Nest SEA - No point to go on it got boring and left at when it was 50 cap lvl.
APB: Reloaded
Grand Chase - It died HARD due to Elsword
RO2 - what a mediocore MMORPG
Eden Eternal - no. never again.
The most disappointment was Wildstar.
Alot of hype, really waited for this game. But it turned out to be the worst game i ever played.
I am still mad I wasted my money on that game.
It felt to me like a Saturday morning cartoon clone of WoW. And the WoW loathing is great in me. Like someone that was fed meat loaf every day for the past 5 years. I never want to see meat loaf again much less smell or taste it.
Destiny this â â â â â â â slot maschine game.
I heard this got its game play reworked and went F2P but havenât tried it since beta.
For me the most disappointment was Archeage ! too much hype for a game that could be one of the best MMORPGS but its P2W scheme killed it
I looked at that game once and it said âAuction house is a premium feature that must be paid forâ and i was like LAWL not even trying.
Path of Exile
-Overrated
-Diablo clone
-Low player-base
-Overpriced cash shop
-Naive devs
-Bot to win
Overall just an overrated Diablo-clone glorified by people who donât want to spend a single penny for their games AKA leechers, most donât/havenât play the game for long, just beg every upcoming game to follow its âfair cash shopâ.
S4 League;
-Since Panamaman left the game, lost its style, and believe me when i say it was unique
-Cash shop, prices way too high
-Community
-Turned into P2W
WoW;
-No, just no.
Mabinogi:
- changed combat from loading skills to instant use + cooldowns⌠game design wasnât meant for this style of play
- new content is more about bashing your face into a wall of HP instead of using any skill
- dying game
- number of people ACTUALLY PLAYING is very low
- game is horribly pay to win and ruins the purpose of some skills by having x-grade weapons available in cash shop
- Itâs just not fun anymore
I agree with the other stuff but
-Turned into P2W
lel what
@pseudo S4? it is indeed P2W, at least it was when I last played the game
Weaps and clothes +12, and the other stuff you could get with the special capsules, making your stats WAAAAY better.
@Michi I havenât tried the game with Aeria, I played it since the beta, going from Alaplaya to ProSiebenSat, then stopped playing, I saw with my own eyes how the game turned into what it is today.
Oh the beta days, those were the best, no speedfags, not only TD station-2 , different builds, anchor, not full DM with ââonly swordsâââŚ
Oh, actually S4 isnt iny my eyes a âGunâ game anymore its like a meele weapon game ^^
Elder Scroll Online and Arch$ag$
[vomiting intensifies]
Dungeons and Dragons Online (DDO):
The game started of very unique not for everyone but the actual gameplay has still not been repeated 7-9 years later but it was super buggy at release and users went downhill. Since it only used instanced individual quest with little repetition they had trouble releasing enough content from the start.
Anyhow fastforward 3years it went F2P one of the precursors of the trend for the big MMOs to go F2P, lot of big newspappers cited them and think their success definitely lead to more copying them sadly.
Anyhow at start they were âWe will never sell power in our storeâ, 1year later they had a event were they sold +3tomes, which at the time was only available from raids and toke literary months to get.
Present day they sell bypasses to entrance of raids instead of having timers they sell exp ability of instead of lvling up from lvl1 to 30 you can buy a item to let you bypass lvl1-20âŚ
The slippery slope started when they went F2P and has never stopped and it has gotten more and more âgrindyâ the longer its been out and after 8years its quite frankly a real frankensteins monster of a MMO.
Still the actual gameplay is incredible interesting and the quests are unique there is very little reuse of them its just they couldnt keep up making enough content and your now forced to replay the same quest over and over, its unplayable for its P2W and incredible grind-yness.
Maybe if they had not released it so buggy they might have gotten enough of a playerbase to afford producing enough content, really a case example of what happens when a MMO doesnt have a good launch and ends up with a small playerbase but yet refuses to die completely.
