Questions about Team/Character name

I'm a bit confused with this system. It's true that only our Team Name displays when we type something in chat? I also have heard that there is an option to disable the first name for everyone. Basically it's only the team name that will display for almost everyone else?

The Lodge name is like the family name, so you will be like LodgeName CharName when others pass the mouse over you or have the labels always on. Not sure if they reversed the positions on the new client tho, but on iCBT it was like that.
