Today at reddit a discussion about what have changed from CBT2 to kTOS started and hypped me af.
https://www.reddit.com/r/treeofsavior/comments/46gmor/for_someone_who_played_icbt_what_all_has_changed/
I find the changes very interesting and in my opinion IMC created cool soultions for some of TOS most critical problems.

If someone have more cool changes please share and hyppe everybody even more

  1. Classes have been rebalanced quite a lot, archers are no longer the worst class, and are actually extremely good. There is some more balancing needed imo, but they’re heading towards a very nice place. There are also now hidden classes that you get through hidden quests and/or class pre-requisites, such as Shinobi, Chaplain and Runecaster.
  2. Nearly all skills can be used while mounted now, and weapon swap will auto swap when you use a skill that requires a different weapon.
  3. Level cap is 280, 1-200 has lots of quests, and you get a pretty big exp boost from being in parties and dungeons (upto 600% exp boost in dungeons). However, you have a limit of 5 total runs per day for dungeons. Missions are also much more rewarding and have a separate limit. There are also dailies now that give you exp, monsters drop exp cards, and pvp gives exp cards (to a limit).
  4. 200-280 has pretty much no quests, and requires you to grind with parties, and do dungeons/dailies to level, there are a few more dungeons now too to close the gaps where leveling slows down.
  5. An entirely new starting zone, called Orsha that goes all the way to lvl ~115.
  6. The boss cubes can be rerolled with silver now so you get 2x the chance to get better loot.

Those are the most major changes to what you may know. Now here are several more:

  1. Guilds are a thing now, templars can make them, and being in a guild allows you to:
  • Do guild events, such as full guild raids, boss summoning, missions, etc.
  • Create a guild tower that’s an instance for your guild, and is a tower in the real game world that you place somewhere, you can do gardening there.
  • GvG, which is basically open world flagging pvp between guilds, with no gear equalization, it’s VERY enjoyable.
  1. Earth Tower, the current end-game content. It’s a tower that is 20 floors of challenges, and a boss every 5 floors. You have 4 minutes to complete each floor. I have yet to see anyone get to floor 3, but it did just come out today.
  2. Arena pvp alpha, they’re testing arena pvp and having pvp specific class changes when your in there. Gear is equalized in the arena, and everyone is set to lvl 200 with stat ratios equivalent to what your building.
  3. Ranked maps, maps now having rankings with 3 star maps being very insanely difficult without a party.

Cash shop introduction:

  1. There’s a cash shop now with hair styles, costumes, warp scrolls, general conveniences, exp books (enhance exp by 30% for 1 hr), TP token (basically subscription, gives exp boost, and a few more things), hat awaken scrolls (drop from dungeons, awakens hats with effects).
There’s a ton more things, but it’s hard to cover it all, but those are a few major important things.

  • Reroll cubes for silver

The only thing that seems to be missing and is on top of my head is that they reconstructed the world map.

The only thing I think ToS needs more is recreational minigames for social fun.

Eg: Racing in MS2 or the Hide & Seek minigame in RuneScape just to name a few.

Maybe even have costumes as rewards if you gather enough points.

Just curious but in the video at about 8 minutes and 30 seconds what are those wisp looking things that the girl was using? Thanks in advance~

Magic Missile (Wizard C3) skill.

Looks boring senseless killing in for what? Work on GvG please because so far everything else looks decent.

There are no rewards but it’s not boring at all. That was the most exciting and fun moments I’ve had in the game.

What did you get in terms of character /guild progression when you log off?

Might as well call it PK mode rather then GvG . Looks boring and I’m disappointed that you get nothing for killing players or destroying their tower.

Able to camp at spawn point where people get revived cmon that’s so year 2001 lol.

You didn’t do anything in that video like in any other pvp videos you posted.Well all you did was died over and over I guess that’s fun for you.

My point is that a solid GvG system has a goal/objective with reward (s) and not pointless killing with nothing to show.

How could this be nostalgia from a RO former? Was RO THAT boring?
Because the more I read about it, and the more videos I watch, the more horrified I’m getting about GvG being utterly pointless, and very deeply flawed, from its core and base ideas.

People will have 1 guild war to try it out, realize what a messy nightmare it is, and abandon that system forever. Right now, ToS has a huge hole in the PvP department, where a fun and rewarding GvG system is missing.

well, they are just started to develop guild system, so let’s look positive.

im not a guild player tho

Yes its a pointless fight, but i can imagine something bigger.
Is the first MMORPG in a while that i could imagine something similar to WoE 1.0 happening, with pre casts and multiple strategics and positioning in awesome maps.
In my opinion, maps with structures and different architetures + a game changer objective would be awesome and fully of intense sieges. But I’m only a hypped fan :slightly_smiling:

Well, that’s the thing. If instead of an open massacre-like PvP, we got maps with structures/areas to attack/defend and objectives (more than just attacking en masse a tower till we destroy it), that would already be a cool (and acceptable) first draft.
But the current system feels really half-assed. It’s nothing more than the arena without the arena area.

Well i’ve played RO in 2000-2005 i stopped like 1 year after tre 3rd classes. And at that time there was well balanced w/o IC and shitty like that and was maybe the best moment in games i had til now, the worst problem were monks and the Ro medic newbie users kkkk

Peltastas got a new skill called Langort, but they really should give a look in this class and the same applies to Rodelero. :sob:

Reducing Swash Buckling CD to 10s could be a good start.

the hp attribute on swash was so good.
i personally would replace throw shield or just remove it

Oh remember that, Shield Lob(ster) or something? I though I was going to be all like Captain America… Such disappointment. lol

The concept of Shield Lob is terrible to be honest. You can lose your precious shield and the long cooldown doesn’t help either. When I reached Peltasta C2 in iCBT2 I just ignored it.
