What exactly is a Hunter?

I’ve never played hunter before. I thought I would build a pied piper that includes a class (hunter) that I’ve yet to try. But seems like there is no synergy between pied piper and hunter.

Which area does hunter shine in? Is it a PvP class? The skills seem to be decent at disabling single targets?

Uhh, honestly don’t… Dont take my word for it though but I have not seen any hunter in my playing time (which isnt a toon)…

Q(?): But seems like there is no synergy between pied piper and hunter(?)
A: There is no real synergy with any other archer-tree class either, with probably exception of Archer’s Kneeling shot and Hunter’s Growling. But thats very situational and not very effective anyway.

Q: What exactly is a Hunter?
A: A big pile of disappointment.

A: None. Reason is that pet dies very fast and is hard to control properly in any environment be it PvE or PvP. In most cases you will find yourself in a situation:
Enemy - you - pet. The range of pet skill are not that great and can easily fail if pet is slightly away from you. While the enemy has a clear view and a free attack on you.

Big pile of disappointment eh…? Alright, guess I won’t be having a hunter anytime soon.

Fixed it for you! :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Actually they have a big sinergy, you take both Pied Piper and Hunter for the costume.

hunter in this game its like the part of the dog trainer in this picture

Being Hunter in this game is more like trying to train a gold fish or a cat to do things you want.

Telling the person who knows nothing about Hunter that his companion could be as reliable as a trained dog is sarcasm to the point it nearly becomes mockery xD

The worst thing is that ± all companions are re-skinned templates with ± the same stats and A.I.

The Armadillo, although it looks pretty sturdy, is in fact weaker defence-wise than the Penguins who come with 2 armor sockets instead of one; their base stats and stat growth are also exactly the same as far as I know.

By the way, the companions don’t even have any distinct skills. They are pretty much autonomous robots when it comes to attacking [i.e. tackling into the enemy], and Hunter is the only Class that has the privilege to actually give proper fighting maneuvers to the companions[that’s until it gets stuck somewhere and stops taking commands].

tecnically there aren’t dogs (yet)

Ok ok, guess I’m not missing much from never playing hunter.

i dont know how its going about damage but on r7 hunter was one of the top class on the archer class even was a top damage because the pet was strong but now its taked only due the cc
i saw a video of pied on pvp and maybe this build could be like the kino sage build for archer

Well… you also have Aiming + Growling, but that’s just Aiming being awesome 100% of the time.

its still working retriving with aiming ?? i remember some videos on ET where the hunter’s pet can grab all the mob :joy:

aiming+growling is pretty funny. 10 min duration and enemies in a pretty large area just stand there and do nothing - and anything that spawns in or comes close gets held indefinitely also. hunter3>falc3 really is the only semi-viable hunter build, as growling is the only reason to take hunter and aiming is required to make growling good. that said, however, there’s also snatching. snatching is incredible DPS against flying enemies with its attribute. especially when using a 2-hand bow for the +50% vs flying. flying stuff just melts. i’ve been playing hunter3>falc3>piper1 and, while not amazing, the CC it offers is hilarious.

I may have seen this once in miki 27f lol and yeah you are right

but how its going the debuff of the hunter on bosses ? its works ? especially curse and retrive have a deff debuff who looks nices for pvp or bosses

Ah Hunter… a memory of the distant past.

Used to be one of the most OP/cancerous utility class in PVP even with the mediocre companion mechanics but C̶l̶e̶r̶i̶c̶s̶ players screamed “balance”.

So IMC went overboard with nerfing the class to oblivion (so much that it nearly got useless even in PVE if not for Snatching against Flying and Growling as CC), then locked it behind closed doors… left to be forgotten.

Today, if only companion was improved - where it wouldn’t randomly get stuck or disappear, wouldn’t ignore commands, and other annoying bugs that pesters it - Hunter might still have some room in a few builds.

That sounds quite OP though…

Is it a good method of crowd control? I was thinking pied piper for rank9 on that build to be a fully crowd controller.

@gexmnlin13 yep. see the problem with growling is that the area is normally tiny, so it’s useless. but falcon c3 aiming fixes that. the level of crowd control it offers is just absurd. check it out: https://youtu.be/u3fpdFfCjmk

basically growling makes any enemy near your pet just stand there and do nothing (other than elites and bosses) and aiming makes enemies hitboxes big which essentially multiplies its grab area by around 5 times. it’s hilarious. growling also lasts 10 minutes and has a 30 second cooldown. you can either cancel growling by walking around 1-screen distance from your pet, by using a different hunter skill, or by typing /comeon. also remember to put 1 or 2 aias shields on your pet so they block physical attacks (aias has nice block rate and easy to get. having 2 of them makes them block all the time - i think it might be a bug with the way aias has +8% final block rate. if you have 2, they seem to multiply off each other infinitely). if they’re growling they’re not really gonna get hit, but it helps if an elite targets them or there’s some archers targeting it outside of growl range.

also the attack skill, snatching, is amazing damage vs flying enemies. it has an attribute to make flying enemies hit by snatching take +100% damage from strike attacks, and as snatching itself is a strike attack it doubles up the damage. using a 2 hand bow will also give the +50% vs flying, so the skill is essentially 900% factor vs flying and hits 10 times (300% factor x2 and then +50%) - meaning it’s basically a 9000% factor skill vs flying with 2 overheat and 15 second cooldown. with aiming it’s very easy to hit 3 or 4 flying enemies with it at a time.

Did 1 velco run with my qs1-hunter3-falcon3-mergen. Didn’t try growling during destroy statue but hunter pretty much useless the whole run.

1st boss gargoyle run around a lot and even after pavise pinned, his damage too high for my pet to survive. Snatching also less value now with lesser people using strike damage.
During drake, I just don’t bother feeding pet.

Imo just make pet invincible or something like omny’s fox. Then add auto rush then I’ll be happy with it already.
