We badly need an official statement regarding what the VAC Covers IMC

So we dont know about monster tracker yet, anyway VAC is extrernal to IMC, we could get banned then we should contact IMC to talk about, maybe its better dont use it yet

If a developer get to make a shaddy addon, you can be sure he would not put in on github to everyone to see. We firmly believe what we do is safe, and that’s why we’re releasing them to the public

As a programmer, I can share my code anf firmly believe that is safe, in fact its true, but IMC is a company which could banned us anyway haha

The thing is, IMC fears that appreciating/allowing all these addons would open “Pandoras Box”, opening a path leading to something IMC cant control anymore and with that, leading to more work for the staff.

IMC shows this kind of hesitation a while already in a lot of situations dealing with forces they are not used to. If thats a mob unsatisfied western customers, people giving honest constructive critism, or in this case, 3rd party developers without any ultirior destructive motives. Its a grey area they’re not familar with.

Thats why they’re giving the staff members here only enough room to just be vague enough to not tap any domino piece by saying, addons which are not harmful and bring no unfair opportunities against regular players, are no problem at all - not knowing of the whole dimension of addons currently existing in public or in secret.

Thats a dangerous topic IMC does not want to tackle yet, having so many issues waiting right before the door.

The sometimes unreasonable fear of being hit by a banhammer is by no means a bad thing for IMC at all, you know ;D

I sent an email, I got response from IMC :

Greetings Savior!

Thank you for contacting us!

We understand that you would like to use third party program or addons.

However, we highly advise you to stay away from using third party programs to prevent possible suspensions on your account.

Should you have any further concerns, please do contact us again

Regards,
Tree of Savior Support Team

So… I wont use them anymore.

Geez. Thats what any staff would say since he does not want to give you any wild cards.

You are aware you just requested a use-any-3rd-party-Program-to-your-liking Ticket, dont you? Dont expect more than the obvious from them until they got the permission from the higher ups.

dont forget, its the same support that says that mob-gems only drop in group dungeons. they only have a list of answers they can give you since they are not the devs

3rd party programs are dangerous
but they did not include the word addons on their response
Ok, that’s quite a relief to some part but we still ain’t 100% confident of this answer due to the fact that the responding people doesn’t seem to be the devs.

Currently the best answer would be this:

“Addons are acceptable as long as they are not over-intrusive such as the exp viever you mentioned”
“it has more to do with hacking, exploiting, and excessive data mining etc.”

(from Excrulon’s github page)

Already pointed that out on my reply to this thread which was already sunk by the multiple replies to this thread

What we are still waiting though is the confirmation on BetterQuest and Excrulon’s Lua addons pack because on that thread, he only asked for his EXP viewer.

Anyway I think the best thing we can do its looking forward an official answer.
Besides I dont use exp view and that is the only thing they have said it is ok

By the way, BetterQuest is so cool but that should be not permit…

why not? its not a hack, it doesnt give you any advantage since you can just use the database to find quests, it doesnt show you hidden stuff that you can find with google-fu, it only gives you another window where you can easily see which quests you have missed and where you can get it.

compared to the mapviewer which shows you hidden parts of the map (and where we have the confirmation that its ok to use), betterquest is harmless.

and i kinda remember that there were patchnotes for ktos where the quest-npcs were now marked

Betterquest erases the exploration phase. When you are in a new map, you already have the flags where the quests are. Anyway I loved that addon, but I dont feel safe using it. But of course I want to use it, and monster tracker too, I hate to be looking at journal window to see how many monster I need to kill…

same goes for mapviewer.
mapviewer removes exploration by showing you which part you havnt found, even if it is a hidden part of the map that you can only reach by teleporting.

showing all the not-hidden quests is not a big deal. if it would show all the hidden things like the shinobi questline or the hidden quests for certain special rewards…that would be too much

Rxactly, that is why I am not usong it. Exp view is fine because only shows data, its plain information, it does not really help you, just report you.

But the others addons are making your savior life easier

I get what you’re saying but, consider that there are a lot of players that may want to have a 100% map or all the quests done, but they don’t have the player profile required to do all that by themselves (I’m not putting myself into this group tho).

Maybe some would even stop playing just because got tired of wandering on some maps and never get 100% (I know, it’s foolish, but can happen).

My point is: If, someday, IMC says that this addon is safe to use, I think one should use if don’t feel like you, having an “easier savior life”.

Using it or not, I don’t think one will have advantage over another. They will get to the same goals, but through a harder or easier path.

o/

thats the thing, there is no advantage.

having an advantage would be for example autobuff, autoheal and those things.

but showing informations that everyone has access to, that dont need datamining or something fishy like that…thats not an advantage
