Vote for the next hack: Rollback or Manual Revert

It’s not for the current decision. We are talking about the next hack.

I didn’t get banned. If you know me in person in NA, you should be able to find me in hours around midnight.

Please read carefully the title and the bolded question before you vote and reply.

The poll here represents players who care enough to register for and be active on the forum, which I would argue is the core of the player base. I do understand there is another set of players active on reddit as well.

At the moment it is hard to estimate the effect of any potential mistakes in this manual revert process. It is error-prone. While rollback will not have these potential error.

It is a trade-off between potential risks and overall effect on server.

However, the current manual revert process also banned many people for investigation. I understand that is required for the revert process. But then it becomes asking which of the following you want:

  1. Rollback and lose a few days of progress in the past
  2. Getting banned for manual revert and lose a few days of progress afterwards

If we are getting compensations anyway, I prefer the error-free rollback instead of the error-prone manual revert.

i still think the current solution is better than a rollback.

better have a few angry affected players than angering the whole playerbase if you ask me ‘w’

as many as you think people are complaining now, i think a rollback would result to a far more complainants than we currently have.

as error prone as the current solution is, a rollback would be a 100% mistake if you ask me Owo correcting that would be more disastrous than the error we have now

if you think about how many flimsy minded people who would say they’d quit the game due to the error they experienced. imagine how many more out there would react the same if everyone gets a piece of the problem but are not supposed to get it?

though tbh, if you said that you are aware that not everyone goes to the forum. wouldn’t the poll reflect an inaccurate result? ‘w’

rollback club recruiting:sweat_smile:

Polling the whole population is in most cases impossible or impractical in any application. The point is to sample evenly on the target subset that you care about. The poll here samples active players on forum, whose result, to me, and hopefully to IMC, is interesting enough.

Otherwise all polls that have happened on this forum so far are all meaningless, because they aren’t representing the whole population. We know that is not the case, they do mean something.

As an individual I cannot predict how the whole player base will react to rollback. But we will soon know how the player base will react from the manual revert from the steam chart. There are other MMOs who do rollback after massive exploits, so it’s not unheard of to say the least.

yeah but, the subject of the poll isn’t really something as isolated to only people who are active in the forums

i guess the word is massive. and i think it is not as massive to have everyone as collateral damage from a rollback.

I welcome suggestions of better ways to gather stances from community.

Do note that compensation given to players during maintenance downtime isn’t for the time the players used, it is for the the potential loss of play hours in which the players have not spent yet. It is easy to provide compensation for such hours since no RNG is involved yet.

I’m interested to know what kind of compensation you think is fair and appropriate for rolling back the server.

How would you compensate a player who luckily got a Pora/Pore from a map gimmick cube during the rollback time? What about guilds/groups that painstakingly align their online time together for world boss fights and come back with good reward drops? What about players who could only spare little time to play and took the weekend to rush level their characters using x8 tomes? What about those who roll letitica cubes during that time and got what they want?

How would you compensate RNG luck streaks and effort used?

Fair compensation by reviewing manually case by case to sort out what each player gained and grant them that item/drop/exp again? How is that different from what IMC is doing now?

It is already bad that hacks happen and silver is injected into the economy. Please don’t make it worse by suggesting things like server rollback that disregard players’ efforts. It is a major taboo and will cause more discontent in the player community.

Now you are taking a strong stance.

I do not want to start a long argument here. We will let the poll sort it out.

If you posit that the poll is destructive to the health of the player community, please feel free to report this to IMC.

well, it really depends on how you’d analyze the result.
like how majority of the voters are silute players, who also happen to have the largest number of players getting banned over server population ratio

Hmm the problem is… in order to offer something as an alternative solution to resolve a problem, such things have to be thought through.

It is like in the real world where we keep harping on change for the better, some services need to be better, so on and forth. But none of us step up to really think things through to see if the solution really works and not cause more harm than good.

Maybe, maybe not. Who knows.

I will not reply to any comment from now on. It’s getting tiring. The poll will speak for itself if I haven’t spoken enough.

Again, it’s for the future hacks, not the current one…

awww …no more drama

wait wait wait

wut??? where???

i came to thread after being told neko being abusive (or at least claimed as such) i cant find anything.

On topic: no need for rollback. Staff can work overtime to avoid that scenario(even if they couldnt solve it 100%). rollback will frigging affect all players who werent even involved. losing tons of silver xp, drops and what not. anyone care to tell what good rollback will do? i can only see negatives.

guide for those got extra thousand billion silver, on topic i vote for rollback. :satisfaction:

Well, I don’t want to redo any farming that I did. It’s sucks if I must redo all the RNGs

Well on all the negatives of rollback … people could maybe trust that there are not only abusers and cheater running around and that ur own effort ist still worth sth.And yeah i m aware that there are a lot of people who got silver who did nothing wrong .But this makes the game not fairer in the slightest
But yeah this rollback thing has to be done really fast …

Didn’t realize that the poll said the next time something like this happens. I’m against a rollback for the current situation because too much time has passed, but a future rollback of a few hours, if a hack is caught early enough, would be ideal.

Of course, then that situation can be exploited too.

… and what’s the point of this poll? to try to convince someone on what to do on something they don’t have an authority to?

yeah yeah community should be first, but on handling sensitive database rows/cells/cols on this kind of fiasco? i dont think so.
