Velcoffer DPS ranking doubts

So we’re currently doing some DPS checks and class combinations to check potential DPS of several classes on higher end content, but something seems wrong.

Now, long ago we discovered DPS meter being reset when:

  1. Not hitting the boss for more than 10 seconds
  2. Cleric Using Fade.
  3. Sitting
  4. Dying?

Could it be that this applies to Velc? Does it still behave this way?
I’m thinking #1 (Not hitting the boss for more than 10 seconds) to be the case.

Since velcoffer flies over for more than 10 seconds while killing baby drakes, However:

Check the scenario below:
I didn’t use Fade. No one died during velcoffer fight (only gargoyle), I didn’t actually do a lot of DPS, I focused on healing.

I started to find this odd and take screens to check how this works, ever since our thauma got 1 and my trans 0 goon getting 1 in over 30 mins left (considered fast for a public party). Which means I didn’t actually do any major DPS for the run.

It’s a bit hard to see actual DPS effectiveness like this, If anyone else knows what else causes DPS to reset/glitch, do tell.

Its so weird and bugged for sure.

We had Link3Chrono3RC being #1 (dps gear, but still, just no).
No death, no Fade, no sitting…

Exactly, i got the same case but on our thauma RC.

I started questioning everything about the DPS meter after that

“Dying” is probably counted out of the possibility. I tested a run and tried to die before velcoffer dies but could still get 1.

Just to add some info on my latest run. Party with BM2, another Enchanter, Kabba3 and Linker3-RC.

I got rank 1 vs Gargoyle on both run with my Enchanter dps. I was holding most of the aggro. No death.

I got rank 4 vs Velco on both run even when I’m holding most of the aggro until the end. However party member died few times on both run. Rank 1 was held by Linker3-RC which got no 4 during Gargoyle.

I’m thinking if they switched this to overall performance instead of just DPS.

Like amount healed, buffs provided and was it useful, debuffs placed, etc etc.

But since it’s complicated I doubt IMC would do it.

You can still be 1 even after you died and went back to town for pardoner buffs before coming back again.

That’s too complicated even for other games idk. But holding aggro should still be reliable at least for top dps…if without Swordie and Warlock.

Gargoyle rank still consistent imo except 2h Bow user got advantage against it.

I’ve thought about this also, I actually think the DPS meter completely resets during the air phases. However, during these air/add phases, once Velco lands, any new damage to him does not appear to register to the player (and I wonder if this might also be why sometimes, if it bugs out both times, maybe a person does not get a cube, which has happened to me 2-3 times).

This might explain why some people do not rank at all. As much as I’d like to believe they added some kind of feature for non-DPS, seems too hard to implement.

I’m not very sure about these but IMO the aditional damage lines increase more damage to your dps than raw damage skills, maybe because their skip some deff of the boss and velcoff have a tons of def/mdef. so multi hits skills and AA could do more damage than some P. dps class without a sup with P.deff reduct

I said that because I’m allways reach 1 place with my tauma2/linker3/enchant2 and i only use AA. and spirit shock.
with like 50k per AA and 100k per Spirit shock dot.

But then looking back at Exo’s Rubric, 783% no attribute with 24 true multihit with 150% advantage. Also Druid’s grass, and -mdef modifier from Linker-RC, it could be your rank is legit. How much is your Rubric per hit do?

Enchanter is DPS. Top tier DPS.

I’m not even using Rubric fully, I mentioned earlier I was prioritizing heal, I cancel rubric when I need to sz/strea/mass heal

also our 2nd run showed correct DPS ranking.
Top FF/Mata, then me, SR, then thau last.

Mhm. You could also try running again without taunter and Warlock. See who hold the most aggro in party will get rank 1. With no dying, fade, sitting, whatever.

but im talking about aditional damage and extra lines of damage, like sadhu aditional damge of transmit prana, its skip some amout of deff. and thats allow some class to get more damage, specially multi hits and AA class. enchant 2 its only and example

Yes we recognize that. (I in fact recognize AA builds as top dps because you don’t need to invest too much in attributes)

Our AA dealer there is SR. He is rank 4 on my screenshot.

I knew something was wrong after our 2nd run which showed “correct” assumed DPS ranking.

Yeap, for my dragoon party we did the test. Sometimes I get 1 (ranking bug again), normally I get 3 (what it should be).

What I used for the test was dragoon tank. Held aggro for the most part. I either get 1 or 3 so it isn’t actually consistent

because when we’re talking about prana+other multi hits.

We know Ele3>WL3 alone has a lot of it. Triggers multiple blessing, DOT, aggro.

yet a chrono rc/thauma rc can take rank 1.

i dont know m3n. 8k of Mdamage its a lot for a full con supp, also maybe spirit shock can increase the extra lines damage, have a nice dps (100k/s) its better than have 1 cd who deals 5m of damage each min. just mats

The thing is it’s not consistent.
One run the main DPS can get top rank, the next run with same group a random support or cleric gets number 1.

Noway. They have similar gear/stats to me. And they do many more hits (i have a elelock too, so i know) while all i do is weak AA (not many aa buffs) and Spiritshock.

and as others said, that char is sometimes #3 or #4 and suddenly #1 (we use same party each week)

Yeah this is what I’m trying to point out, or at least trying to let everyone know.

There could be something that glitches the rankings
