US mentality behind regional servers

yep i kind of like getting data based on icbt 2 participation since it was kind of like an open beta where there are so many players playing. if we based it on sales SEA is surely low on the charts because they dont have a reason yet to be desperate in playing the game (will do anything to play and spend money on it type of desperation)

i also want to see a chart on icbt2 how many players from what country played during the icbt (1st week of data would be viable)

26% not enough for Latin America.
I cry everytime. :frowning:

I have to agree with this. This is why I opened the threads that I did so the conversations would be in select topics and free of riot talk. It doesn’t help what we want.

Well, there are a lot of reports saying it isn’t doing that well in Korea. And that’s through Nexon Korea. They don’t get pure profit from that. It may end up that the international version is where more revenue comes in as a whole depending on how the next two quarters go.

Tho im all for it. If this is your first experience with this type of issue then dig in. It will be fun to watch the forums after the first two months.

iToS is being published via Valve right? So any ā– ā– ā– ā– ups will be on imc right?

Is EU ping really that bad? The server is in US East coast so I’m thinking 150-200ms ping which isn’t really all that terrible for a game like this.

I’m curious about this too. So far I’ve seen a lot of europeans with pings around 110-150, which is less than SA players get.

I guess that will be the regular ping for countries like Sweden, Germany and so on so forth, Russia is different thing, tho, I think they would round the 200’s, the UK is between the 100’s iirc. South America goes from 150-220 depending your internet connection.

It’s published by IMC, on Steam.

Remember that Valve have regional pricing, so each pack sold doesn’t necessarily equate to the same amount of money coming in.

And before you ask ā€œwhyā€, it’s because with such pricing more people will actually be able to afford it.

150 to 200 is really bad ping. Really bad.

People are just saying it isn’t because they are just frankly stupid.

Anyway, any VPN or does WTFast work for Europeans for the East Coast? Hoping to reduce ping to 40 ms.

Sounds decent to me. 250+ and it starts getting a little annoying. I’m pretty sure the Server is in East Coast instead of West coast because they thought about the EU players.

Steam/Valve Greenlight is not the same as working with a traditional publisher. That’s why you see games that already have a publisher, say TERA or RO, still releasing their games through steam as well. It’s another platform for sales/distribution.

From the way I understand it, it’s more like a way of bypassing having a formal publisher. It seems to give a lot more freedom to game developers.

Is actually not ā€œthatā€ bad, it’s way different from 40 ping, but still playable. VPNs won’t get you to 40 whatsoever. Maybe if you have 220 ping you can get to the low 100’s, but never to almost local ping.

At 250+ ms you might as well be offline. Everything you do will have a very noticable lag behind it.

It’s like hitting a button and it never does anything without a delay.

It ā€œisā€ decent. As someone who has played MMO’s for 10 years with 180+ ping I can guarantee you it’s playable, it’s not optimal, tho, there’s several classes that will just underperform with higher pings. Albeit I can safely bet the game is more than playable with that ping. 250 is just too much for any mmo, tho, at least in my opinion.

I used to have really bad ping even though I’m not more than a couple hours from where the servers are supposedly. I switched to a different ISP and went from 100+mbps to 24-33 mbps. I don’t know how much that would affect a connection from further away, but it made a big difference for me.

I used to league at 350 ms ping (skill shot champs). It’s still possible to compensate at that stage. Annoying no doubt.

The point being, kToS could be blamed on Nexon. But that there will be nobody else to blame for the iToS release. We’ll find out soon enough.

I can’t get used to high pings. I own a 100 mb net and usually I get good pings, but then again I avoid American servers in every game as the 200 pings are freaking annoying.

Any shooter, Dota 2 etc. is unplayable. I can’t stand it. I don’t want to learn to compensate because it’s never going to make the game enjoyable. ToS is already a cluster ā– ā– ā– ā–  of spells, skills and classes rely on low ping.

Don’t know if I wlll get a VPN just for ToS since it’s already 20 dollars a month to play it.
