International = worldwide
this guy wants to open a server with merely thousands people, ok!
give me thousands dollars and I will pirate a server for you, with lack of data and contents, of course. Or you can give that money to IMC and tell them to make a branch in EU.
Did I mention that money is for server alone? Please pay for their infrastructure and man’s salary as well.
yep… its an unnecessary risk to take. it’s only logical they did what they did.
This post was flagged by the community and is temporarily hidden.
It is important to know the big questions will pop up, “Is EU server worth that 26% revenue it offers?(Will it be worth the money they offer?)(Are Eu servers going to put us in the black or red)”, If your saying that EU population will be small, if thats true, they might actually end up ignoring that community. Instead of rioting you should be gathering your community as much as possible.
except in Indo server most people will talk in indonesian language and rarely you will see english chats on those country.
if it is english and the publisher there encourage english speaking and not their national language then people in SEA might as well play there instead of on steam.
if there would be an english server in SEA i am sure that more and more people in my country (PH) will play it since it is easy to advertise it to your friends and in social media.
Dragon Nest SEA was an english server and if you check most of what you see playing are speaking in Filipino language (kinda feels like it is overrun by PH players that the normality in speaking is Filipino than english).
IMC just need to risk on implementing a server on EU or SEA if they really want to be successful. they cant just go safe when doing this business since they already took a huge risk disabling 1:1 trade for free players and late announcement from their decisions.
i kind of get what k.kubiak94 is saying.
would people in EU waste their money on a game that is not having a good latency? high ping = limited class to choose from.
there are more sales in america than in other countries because it is close to them plus lower ping which makes every class available to them.
EDIT: i see some discussion on some groups on facebook that they are hesitant in buying a founders pack because of high ping. since i think most of them are competitive type of people who wants to pvp with the class they want but cant because of high ping.
even i cant choose every class since my ping in ToS is 300ms-450ms so my only choice are DoT type class (pyromancer and linker specifically) since they can just place it on the ground and run around and hoping that you dont get an invisible hit from lagging too much. i cant waste money if playing the game isn’t fun because of having a high ping so only choice is to go being a free user to test how long can the game last (not literally going free user since i am just gonna buy the $10 pack to see how long can i play on 300ms-450ms)
I sure hope there’ll be a way to turn off chat in the game, because I’ve got a feeling that forum drama is going to spill over into the chat on the founder’s servers.
Eh… it’s not really ‘drama’ when a whole continent is being left out in terms of reasonably low latency server access to a game they are interested in playing…
Please close this thread @Staff_Julie we need mature conversation, not between some kids whining about something the game cannot give them yet.
I had a feeling this thread wasn’t going to be anything good the moment I saw the title…
Just wait it out, guys.
They did say that the decision may change within due time which means their decision now isn’t and most likely won’t be the final decision for quite some time.
Hopefully the ping won’t be too bad for the EU players (SEA too or just EU?) while we wait for the next announcement regarding the extra regional servers.
Maybe not, but right now all I can imagine is having a question about something that I feel would be safe to ask, but the chat would be going a mile per minute with stuff like, “You don’t like it leave” vs. “I demand a refund”.
And at that point one would think, “You don’t like it, turn chat off”. That’s all, really.
I believe it’s worse for SEA than EU.
I didn’t mean that, I was not sure if it is just the EU fan base seeking regional servers or both EU and SEA.
SEA should get their own server before EU. It would be madness not to open one there.
for SEA the range of ping is between 200ms - 450ms sometimes can go as far as 500~600ms
Just to add in my 2 cents… Servers are expensive as hell. Those cheapo $20 servers you see around are for the use of a dozen people at best. The type of servers used for mmos cost around $1000-$1500 monthly for servers that host around 2000 players. You might have noticed that ToS has a LOT more people than that interested in playing. However, expecting a company to slap down several thousand dollars to support servers that they probably won’t need after the hype dies is ridiculous. They’re a company and they have a budget, until this game kicks off and starts making some revenue they probably broke as ■■■■.
If that’s true then I do believe SEA should get a regional server first.
I just hope that they base their data on how many people from different regions participated in the betas and the past voting polls rather than just the Steam purchases.
Why are we pretending the kToS version hasn’t happened? Also aren’t the 49.99 founders pre-orders doing quite well on Steam?
