UPDATED: I now support crazy and unreasonable measures against bots, except not really. Important new info has arisen!

Problem with no trades is that people can just sell the accounts for money. Look at League of Legends, there are many “bots” that level up accounts to 30 and sell them to other players that want to use it for ranked games.

tl;dr Trade restriction is not the solution to bots. We got a bigger problem here.

Server A - why? It whould be no fun to play on Server B. So in a way these 2 servers are exactly the same. But in reality There won´t be 0 Players on Server A

Oh the communities dont disapear dont get me wrong. They just devolve into the midset that the restrictions create. It’s hard to give examples of day to day interactions within that community, but look at Devillian for example. Terrible f2p system that looks more like a free demo mode. When the game release people complained about it alot, especially the “no trades no whisper” rule. And you know what happened? Bots got around that restriction, while legit players were still restricted and no one cared to hear their complaints. This led to a point where those players eventually left the game and all that was left was a community of entitled people that screamed “why can you pay 5$, its not even that expensive, what are you a freeloader?”. Don’t expect to have a good time playing that game as a free player.

Actually I quite agree with OP lol (against the majority \o/)

Honestly, my friends usually don’t beg me for silvers and I don’t ask them either.
Sometimes I happen to lend or ask but rarely and I don’t think trading limitation will be that much of a bother.

Plus trading items also is a bad idea since you will lose item potential (the game is designed like this)

Gold sellers spam in chat is horrible honestly…
And in RO I remember some ppl botting to 99 when you had to spend days hardcore grinding… (unfair games make me feel like it seems pointless to do your best to level when you see botters reaching the same result without a drop of sweat…)

In reality there wont be bot = players on option B they were both exaggerations. But interesting you would chose less players for less bots.

Or build equipment with 1 Potential left then sell the gear (this has happened on other games) They are not stopping anything they are just annoying the Gold sellers and their player base.

Wow wild misinformation here.

Square-Enix does a lot to combat bots and gold sellers. They even give stats every 2 weeks. Most companies give no indication they are banning anyone. This is just in one week. Yet you say they do nothing?

Yes, you will still see spammers and bots simply because of the size of their player base. Square-Enix does not make money off those accounts. Most are stolen or they use stolen credit cards to pay. They don’t have free reign.

The GM team has the authority to ban anyone. They do probably lack the manpower but they also do not just ban immediately. They look into the accounts, the gold trail, and try to find the source and ban that one. They have even talked about this. Do your research and you’ll see they do more than any other company.

Black Desert has the restrictions that you want and has that stopped the spam? Nope. You just hinder the community and players.

Sorry but I do not support limiting the community and players just to “attempt” to stop botters and gold sellers. It’s not going to stop them and they have proven that in every mmo.

I can see why you wouldn’t want that. Having not played Devillian of course I couldn’t judge whether the controls on markets did more harm than good in that case.

I am one of those people who pays for games, though, so I would have probably fallen in with the rude $5 crowd. But FFXIV has taught me that pay walls aren’t enough to stop gold selling, so that’s an incomplete solution anyway.

Yes it would be my preference. I respect your opinion if you want to have the second option anyone is different of course. I would just rather have quality over quantity.

I’ve played 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0, Corti. I’ve done my research. I’ve seen every transformation that game has gone through and at the end of the day, like you yourself suggested it is obviously a manpower issue. HQ won’t give them what they need to put a stop to it and it’s a damned shame.

They definitely do NOT do more than any other company. Blizzard does more than any other company, and they’re mostly successful. You don’t get completely blown away by gold spam tells in WoW. You do in FFXIV, you really do.

Jokes aside, I hate bots too, but I do take a sick pleasure in hunting them down and messing with them.

The only way to get rid of gold selling for good is to make a single player game or a multiplayer game that is not online.

That’s not really true. Back to PSO2, again, there’s almost no gold selling going on there. The controls that turned you off of the game worked.

But what im trying to say is that there isnt a good way to restrict game features to stop bots. Because they stop legit players aswell, and from that point of view, who would subject themselves to that while they can just go play something else? F2P games exist to capitalize on bigger communities and what comes with them (cash whales, exibitionists, collectors, etc). When you strangle that community’s interaction with each other, they just end up leaving. And all that’s left is a game that had incredible potential, but no one cares about it 6 months after release.

While I really dislike the Token trade limitation, I am willing to accept it as a means to fight bot. To me it is probably the only realistic way IMC will be able to deal with overwhelming bot rot.

Market token…that’s a new nice idea isn’t it? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

you can buy accounts

Can you prove that the trade restrictions are what cause cash whales and social media butterflies to find greener pastures, though? Or even provide examples where it probably happened for the sake of argument, when the gameplay was actually really good otherwise? You didn’t do this the last time I requested it, so how can you make this claim?

I mean, if I’m a cash whale, I can just slam down $500 for tokens, sell them off and ignore all of the problems because of my extreme richness. And your butterflies are more about screenshots and hats than anything else.

Oh boy. I hope you won’t get disappointed that RMT does exist in PSO2 JP servers.

I said “almost no”. Perfection will never happen anywhere, but you can still make a pretty damn clean game, with tight controls on the market, and many people will love it. PSO2 is an example of that, whether you like it or not.
